If you’re looking for a game that captures the "no-nonsense" spirit of old-school shooters like Quake or Painkiller, Hard Reset Redux delivers a satisfying, neon-drenched punch to the face. It’s a visually striking cyberpunk romp that prioritizes big guns and even bigger explosions. However, while the chrome shines bright, a few dents in the armor keep it from being a total masterpiece. The Good: The standout feature is undoubtedly the combat flow. The weapon system is unique; rather than carrying twenty individual guns, you have two modular bases (the CLN Firearm and the NRG Weapon) that transform into various death-dealing gadgets. Swapping between a mortar launcher and a railgun on the fly feels incredibly fluid. Atmosphere: The rain-slicked, futuristic streets are dripping with style. Performance: The Redux version runs like a dream, handling massive waves of robots without breaking a sweat. Cyber-Upgrades: The progression system is rewarding, making you feel like a walking tank by the final act. The Bad: While the game encourages you to blow everything up, it inadvertently creates one of its most frustrating nuisances. Collectibles and gear pickups are physically simulated. In a game where every room is packed with explosive barrels and volatile machinery, one stray shot often sends your precious NANO upgrade canisters flying into unreachable corners or hiding behind piles of physics-based debris. Spending five minutes playing "find the needle in the haystack" after a high-intensity firefight really kills the momentum. The Ugly: The game’s biggest hurdle is its repetitive nature. Enemy Variety: You’ll be fighting the same swarms of "gorilla-bots" and small "saw-drones" for the majority of the campaign. Level Design: While the aesthetic is gorgeous, the actual pathfinding boils down to: enter arena, kill everything, find a battery to open a door, repeat. Final Verdict Hard Reset Redux is a solid 6.5/10. It is a fantastic choice if you want to turn your brain off and enjoy some high-fidelity destruction. It’s crunchy, fast, and unapologetically difficult. Just be prepared for the gameplay loop to wear a bit thin before the credits roll, and try not to blast your upgrades into orbit.
길찾기 힘들고 똑같은 무기, 똑같은 잡몹만 내내 잡음
No Substance Got it on sale and had low expectations, but the game is just not worth it. The story is non-existent, with ordinary characters (including the protagonist), repetitive enemies. The only good thing is some boss fights and partially satisfying combat. Will rate it 5/10!!!
Yeah it's alright. It's an off brand Terminator style comic book game.
6/10
The game is medicore and its definition of difficulty is jacking up the enemies hp. I played the game on insane and it was a miserable experience spending 5-10 seconds on every enemy to kill them. If it is a tanky enemy i crap you not its like 30s. If you want to try out the game, which is nothing special/unique, play it on easy/normal to save yourself some time.
In a category of their own Among the best <- Very good Good Fun Average Didn't like
Works like a dream on Linux. I don't use iold fashioned operating systems like win11 now. All my PCs are Linux. Try PikaOS. British and works well with most Steam games.
Hard Reset Redux is a "remaster" of Hard Reset Extended Edition. While it improves on certain things, changes are either minimal, nonsensical and implementation of new features is questionable at best. Let me expain: New features: dash move, new enemies and a new weapon. Dash move is great, makes traversing the map and dodging attacks much easier. It also completely breaks the game. It's supposed to use stamina, but it's either bugged or broken and it actually doesn't, no matter how many times you use it, making higher difficulties a cakewalk compared to OG. New enemies are cyber zombies that replace some encounters on some maps. They run to you on a straight line and have really slow attacks and low HP, making them useless, even on higher difficulties. I don't see the point of their addition, but that's just me. New weapon is a katana: cool looking but it's completely useless on ANY difficulty except easy. Used it once and completely forgot about it. Compared to OG: Graphics are pretty same looking, minimal improvements if any. Difficulty is easier because of dash, but at the same time, they gave some of the enemies EVEN MORE HP on higher difficulties (WHY?! biggest problem with difficulty on OG was enemies that took forever to kill). Some encounters are now a bit more forgiving because some enemies were replaced with new cyber zombies or drones from dlc maps, worst one's stayed pretty much the same though. You can see your feet! Incredible, I know. They also added this animation when you fall from greater height to make it more cinematic(?). There's art book that you can unlock by completing levels which is cool if you're interested in stuff like that. The rest: Game wasn't exactly improved compared to OG. Most of the bugs from OG stayed (rockets not exploding on impact if you hit an enemy up close for example and certain ranged enemies hitting you through the walls) and new were added. Had this hilarious bug on the last level maxing out the bass ingame, turning sountrack in encounters into earrape. CLN weapon animations are broken, shotgun and grenade launcher, I'm looking at you. Jumping is messed up, making getting some of the secrets REALLY hard to get. Also that animation when you fall from certain heights can get you killed, if you are not careful. They also added insta death fall damage to certain levels, so you know, be careful. Also dashing down the stairs can sometimes kill you. No joke. Difficulty in Extended Edition was pretty unfair on higher difficulties but endless dash makes this game pretty easy especially if you are coming from OG. The rebanced gameplay changes are minimal and barely noticeable. Some of the hardest enemies to kill got a HP buff. Weapons did not get any changes so only useful options are still RPG, Railgun and Energy Mortar. New enemies are helpless. New weapon is useless. They also dumbed down the AI ALOT. Enemies move and attack slower and dodge less. Honestly, pretty dissappointed in this. OG wasn't exactly a masterpiece and neither is this. Was hoping for some quality of life changes and/or rebalance of weapons, enemies, maybe some map changes. What I got was bare minimum of new additions and changes that are pretty meaningless and/or actually break the game. Save your money, skip or only buy on sale.
