Half-Life: Opposing Force — один из лучших пройденных мной Half-Life.

Absolute banger regardless of whether it's canon or not. I'd say probably the only misstep is that it is a few hours shorter than Half-Life 1, yet has 17 weapons when HL1 had 14, meaning you don't get a lot of time to actually get to get used to using them before it's over. There's no real reason why this game would be definitively non-canon to the overall Half-Life universe, its premise is pretty self contained. Race X (alien group never mentioned before or after OP4) decides to invade Earth alongside the Nihilanth's army during the Black Mesa Incident, this doesn't sit well with G-man's carefully orchestrated series of events, so he sends you (Adrian Shephard) to stop Race X from invading so that the main timeline plays out as it's supposed to. Obviously since Race X never made it out of Black Mesa and no one in Half-Life 2 would have seen them as none of them show up in Opposing Force, there would be no reason for anything that happens in this game to be brought up later, aside from one plot point (not spoiling here but it happens during the ending Gman speech) which originally was going to be mentioned in Half-Life 2 but was cut, which I believe is what led to the discourse surrounding Opposing Force's canonicity in the first place. I still think it's an important game to play if you want to experience all Half-Life has to offer, and is just a good game in general.
need i say more? just started playing its peak
This is definitely the best out of the three Half-Life expansions. Interacting with the other HECU marines is super fun and the new weapons are incredibly satisfying to use, especially the LMG and the desert eagle. Most of the new enemies are fun and challenging to fight. The level design and overall pacing I think is stronger than the original game. My only complaints with this expansion is that the inclusion of the pistol is pretty redundant when we are given the desert eagle which outshines it in every way. I also think that the shock troopers are a little bullet spongy, And I don't really like the inclusion of the barnacle gun because you only really need to use it like twice in the game and it doesn't work very well in combat. Aside from those grievances, I think this expansion improves on many things from the first game and is a perfect length and fun expansion to hold me over until half life 3 releases :)
After finishing the base game and Blue Shift, I finally played Opposing Force... And honestly? This is probably my favorite expansion of the bunch. Getting to experience the Black Mesa Incident through the eyes of Adrian Shephard, was such a refreshing perspective. Instead of playing another scientist, you're a trained Marine trying to survive a complete disaster that quickly spirals out of control. The campaign is longer than Blue Shift, introduces a ton of new weapons, I loved how the game constantly throws you into massive battles between Marines, Black Ops, Xen creatures, and Race X. Half the time it felt like absolute chaos, and I loved every second of it. And then... That ending. Seriously, Valve... Why do you keep doing this? After surviving Black Mesa, defeating the Gene Worm, and making it through everything the facility throws at you, the G-Man simply freezes Adrian in time instead of letting him go. Just like that. No real answers. No closure. Just another legendary Half-Life cliffhanger. My only complaint is the same one I have with almost every Half-Life game: It ends just when you're completely invested. Overall: Fantastic campaign. Great new weapons. Memorable enemies. Excellent level design. Another unforgettable cliffhanger. Opposing Force isn't just a good expansion. It's one of the best expansion packs ever made, and Adrian Shephard absolutely deserves to return someday. Valve... It's been over 25 years. Free my man Adrian.
This is pretty much half life but instead of playing as Gordan you play as a badass H.E.C.U Corporal named Adrian Shepard. This game adds many more weapons like a combat knife, a LMG, a Deagle with a laser sight, a damn barnacle that you can hold and use it as a grappling hook, and a portal gun that can send enemies to Xen and teleport you there where there will be ammo and stuff like that. Your main enemies will be the og Xen aliens as well as new aliens call Race X that are tough to fight against and pose a new threat. You also have to fight the black ops guys from the first game because they don't like the marines for some reason. You can enlist the help of your Marine buddies to help you, there is a medic that can heal you, an engineer who can open up some locked doors, and grunts that will shoot at enemies for you. Instead of the tutorial being a hazard course it is instead a boot camp which is pretty cool. Overall, playing opposing force was a very enjoyable experience and I recommend you play this game, though I do recommend you play the og Half life first, since things will make a whole lot more sense.
One of the cool gearbox extensions for Half Life series. Being one of the classics it is a really nice addition alongside blue shift and decay! Without a question if you enjoyed Half Life then this game is something I can recommend
