Hacker Evolution - 2019 HD remaster

ENG: Nope, don't buy this product, this is a scam. Game say or title then this is "HD" -version but, it's not. Only HD think in this game "title" -name. In game, there is none HD textures at all & game editor not support HD textures at all. Game & editor use 240 x 180 & 690 x 320 resolution images so, it's this HD resolution for you? Game & editor should at least support 2048 x 2048 or more resolution to support HD so, i don't recomented this game. If you want to buy hacker theme of the game buy older: Hacker Evolution or Hacker Evolution: Untold -more likely then this. FIN: Ei, tämä tuote on silkkaa huijausta, joten älä osta tätä. Here is the evaluation of the original game. Because I do think that it will be useful for people that don't own it. ------------ Simply surprising, great music... I may not become an hacker but I can play as one without special stuff. You're a renowned IT specialist that retired as an ermit on an isolated island following your family's death. However, you're asked to investigate on 4 different problems, that seemed tied. What will you discover? Hacker Evolution is perhaps a writing simulator, as you need to type the command but you need your brains to avoid to be traced and to have a game over. Sometimes, you'll need to begin a new campaign because you can't do anything but try a different manner to avoid spending too much money you've "stolen" or to add to your trace level. That's perhaps the most frustrating thing in HE. You're going to read files, find passwords, find exploit files that will make your life easier, crack, decrypt, use your brains to know how many hosts you need, upgrade your hardware (should I add a faster modem or a better firewall or more CPU Ram?). Now, the product is stable, there was a time where exosyphen messed up with keyboards (mainly AZERTY) but they're really listening to their customers. For the graphics, they're simple: a map, a console, your config and messages. The original one is all orange but there is a second skin, much darker, that I largerly prefer and that I used. The best point for this game is the soundtrack, very electro/dance but very fitting. I loved it. I really loved it. Hacker Evolution came with Reinsertion Pack, since then replaced by a nice mod called Operation Electrosphere. While many will whine about how it's not realistic as hacking game, I'll say: I don't care about realism. I just want to enjoy myself. And Hacker Evolution had perfectly succeeded to do that. So, yeah, go for it. ------- So first point: Reinsertion was never replaced by Operation Electrosphere, it was hidden because of a bug: the selection level displays only five mods and as it's alphabetical, Reinsertion was pushed in sixth place. In the HD Remaster, it's there because exosyphen removed the Sample Editor Level. No more workaround to play Reinsertion. Another advantage to buy the remastered version if you don't own the original game is the inclusion of both Hardocre Packages DLC. But if you own the game, is it worth it? Well, apart having a new skin and as mentionned above, the disappearing of the sample editor, I do think that you're wasting your money to buy this one. It's the same game, without any real change. If you're new to Hacker Evolution, I suggest you this version for the same reasons I'm discouraging owners of the original ones, in addition of owning the Hardcore Package directly. Maybe the only thing you will miss is the soundtrack from the Hardcore package. The level editor is also present if you're wondering if it's still there.

Hacker Evolution - 2019 HD remaster is yet another hacking simulator (which means it's a bland mix of pretend-command line and droll minigames). It's not "fun" hacking like in Deus Ex or Bioshock or any of those games. It's simulationist hacking, and that's where the problem lies. The key word here is "simulationist", not "simulation". It looks like it's supposed to simulate the real thing, but doesn't come anywhere near. As a pretend simulation, it's got nothing to do with the way real world cybersecurity works, it's just a meme. But it's not "fun" either because it's trying to be a "hard core" simulator. So who is this for? People who want a simulationist experience? Nope, it's unrealistic. People who want a fun Deus Ex style cyberpunk/Neo from the Matrix experience? Nope, there's zero action. Who does that leave? Oh yes, people who got this game in a bundle. Existential problems aside, despite being a so-called "HD remaster", the game has fixed resolution and mediocre graphics at best, and no proper font scaling either. Because there's no font or UI scaling, the text in the game is impossibly small and illegible on any UHD monitor... if you own a proper gaming PC made in 2019 (the year this came out), it's unplayable because the developers didn't bother testing the game on a PC made in 2019. Amazing, epic failure, isn't it? I can't imagine any possible scenario where I would recommend this to anyone.
