Short but sweet rpgmaker game. It's basically a walking simulator with cute story between 2 people who come from vastly different backgrounds. It's also a great game if you wanna get quick 100% completion as you don't have to do much exploring since all the cheeovs unlock gradually by completing the story.
RPG Maker strikes again! Kabukicho Story is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Notably the developer here couldn't work out how to use RPG Maker to make an RPG... and that's the only thing RPG Maker can do properly... except it's not even very good for making RPGs. Instead, we have a basic 2D top down retro pixel adventure game in the style of a crap JRPG, but even worse, with garbage, mangled translation from Russian and a nonsensically bad story. Mustella Games/КиКо have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work. One example of Mustella Games/КиКо doing this is 6.0, which is really the "Pixel Adventure 1" asset, written by the actual developers, Pixel Frog. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Kabukicho Story is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
I really wanted to like Kabukicho Story... even though I knew it was a short game, I had high hopes of getting a nice little story. that's not what you're going to get here. it just felt like I was reading a poorly written fanfiction I'd have come up with when I was 10 years old and just getting into writing. everything just feels so rushed and there's no development at all. the translation is also not that great. it's understandable, but it's not good. all in all, I can't recommend it to anyone.
Kabukicho Story is an incredibly short narrative about the tribulations and issues of societal status in a relationship. Players follow the story of Minoru, the son of a lord and Hanako the daughter of a poor village couple. The two happen to meet by chance when Hanako has to fetch berries and mushrooms from the local forest, and also happens to find Minoru who was lost. Helping Minoru back to the village results in an altercation with bullies and learning of Minoru's status in the process. In the next moment the two declare their love for one another and promise to meet again. The story plot progresses much like a middle schoolers fanfic. The plot development of our main characters love is non-existent and jumps from one point to the next with little exposition or explanation. There are also two instances in the game where you are sent on fetch quests. Other than this however, the game plays like a visual novel. The art of the game is the one thing I did vastly enjoy with this title, even if the story progression didn't impress me. The art is cohesive and helps bring the world to life and is this games one saving grace. I've always been a fan of pixel art, and here the colorful bright hues of the world mix with the bright colors of the character assets without clashing, and includes texture. If you are still wanting the game for whatever reason all the achievements are story based, and will unlock naturally as you progress the story plot. Altogether it should take at most half an hour or so at most for the average reader. While I can't personally recommend Kabukicho Story for its uninspired plot mixed with translation errors, or the few fetch quests. I can commend the title for it's vibrant use of color for characters and the surrounding world. If the story had added a little more personality to it I would likely have enjoyed it more, but currently it lacks not only there but also in originality. Currently this simply reads too much like any other noble male lead x poor consort/maid/servant female lead.
Bugün Ekmek olmuş 5 lira eti puff olmuş 2 lira bu oyun 60 kuruş rpg oyunu sevenler için güzel bir deneyim ucuz ve kısa ingilizceside ağır değil kesinlikle öneririm
I had this game in library for years and now I decided that It's good time to play this game before December 18th 2025 when there will be Winter Sales and New Steam Replay. Over the fact There are some English errors with mix of Russian, It's pretty short and also made in RPG Maker, this is first RPG Maker game that made me really sad and cry and when a game makes me cry that means It's good. Also What really surprised me was the stealth mechanic. I didn't know this was possible in RPG Maker.
Провести вечерок за интересной историей с кружечкой горячего чая. Жаль вот что короткая..)
ゲームは短く、悲しいもので、ハッピーエンドはありません。
