For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. Guardians of Hyelore is a fantasy action-strategy game developed and published by Megaglope Studios that blends real-time combat with army management and gradual progression. Rather than positioning itself as a traditional real-time strategy game with granular micromanagement, it focuses on the satisfaction of building an army, sending it into battle, and watching strategic preparation pay off over the course of extended encounters. The game leans heavily into accessibility, aiming to offer a strategic experience that is easy to grasp while still providing enough systems and progression to keep players invested over time. At the core of the experience is the recruitment and deployment of units. Players assemble an army from a roster of fantasy archetypes, including melee fighters, ranged attackers, healers, and magical units, each serving a distinct battlefield role. Success depends less on twitch reflexes and more on understanding how these units complement one another. Frontline troops are needed to absorb damage and hold positions, while damage dealers and support units operate behind them to tip engagements in your favor. Deciding which units to summon, when to reinforce your forces, and how to respond to shifting enemy pressure forms the backbone of the game’s tactical layer. Combat unfolds in real time, often resembling a tug-of-war where your forces and the enemy push against one another across the battlefield. Rather than static defense, players are encouraged to advance, overwhelm enemy units, and destroy opposing structures such as towers and bases. Resource generation is tied directly to combat performance, meaning that momentum plays a significant role: effective army composition and timing can snowball into overwhelming force, while poor decisions can stall progress and lead to defeat. This structure gives battles a sense of flow, where each engagement feeds into the next. Progression systems extend beyond individual missions. Between battles, players unlock new units, passive bonuses, and upgrades that influence future encounters. These upgrades allow for light customization, enabling players to lean into certain playstyles such as brute-force offense, sustained attrition, or support-heavy compositions. While progression provides a sense of growth and long-term investment, its impact can feel subtle at times, especially during difficulty spikes where newly unlocked upgrades may not immediately offset tougher enemy waves. The game’s visual presentation adopts a colorful, readable 2D art style that prioritizes clarity over spectacle. Units and enemies are easily distinguishable during large skirmishes, which is essential given the number of characters that can be active at once. Animations are functional rather than elaborate, reinforcing the idea that the game is more about strategic outcomes than cinematic flair. The fantasy setting is familiar but cohesive, offering enough variety in environments and enemy types to support extended play without overwhelming the player with visual complexity. Audio design plays a supporting role, providing ambient fantasy music and combat effects that help establish atmosphere without drawing excessive attention to themselves. While the soundtrack and sound effects are serviceable, they rarely become standout elements of the experience. Instead, they exist to reinforce pacing and feedback during battles, ensuring players can easily track what is happening on the field even during chaotic moments. One of the defining aspects of Guardians of Hyelore is its pacing. Battles can be lengthy, and the overall loop emphasizes endurance and steady progression rather than rapid, high-impact encounters. For some players, this slow burn can be rewarding, as it allows strategies to unfold and adjustments to be made over time. For others, the repetition of similar engagements and enemy waves may start to feel monotonous, particularly if they are seeking frequent mechanical surprises or dramatic shifts in gameplay. Replayability is supported through additional modes beyond the main campaign, including challenge-style or endless encounters that test how long your army can survive against escalating opposition. These modes encourage experimentation with different unit compositions and upgrade paths, offering players reasons to revisit systems even after completing the core content. However, because the underlying mechanics remain consistent, replay value is largely driven by self-imposed goals rather than radically new gameplay scenarios. Taken as a whole, Guardians of Hyelore is a solid example of an accessible action-strategy hybrid that emphasizes army composition, progression, and battlefield momentum over detailed micromanagement. Its strengths lie in its approachable systems, clear visual design, and the satisfaction of watching a carefully built force succeed. Its weaknesses stem from repetitive pacing and limited tactical complexity for experienced strategy players. For those looking for a relaxed but engaging fantasy strategy experience that focuses on preparation and growth rather than high-pressure control, it offers a steady and rewarding journey, even if it doesn’t push the genre in bold new directions. I came in hoping this was like Endless War, per another review. I made it 3 matches in and was already bored due to the slow speed and uninteresting units I could use. Refunded, which is rare for me.
TL;DR: I can't recommend this game at its current price. I'm going to be honest, I wanted to like this game. I'm a fan of the genre, and there was a lot of potential to be had here. However, Guardians of Hyelore doesn't deliver in the ways I wanted it to. For starters, the balancing between players and enemies is off - even on Medium I was having trouble getting significantly far into the game due to the difficulty curve. While upgrading my own units happens slowly (and on top of that I'm forced to pick and choose which to upgrade, leading to having only 1 or 2 that are capable in battle), enemies increase their strength at a rate certainly surpasses the rate at which I can get stronger. The first few levels are laughably easy, and there's a sweet spot after that, but beyond this it becomes incredibly difficult. On top of that, you can't play previous levels to gain XP/upgrade your units, so you're stuck depending on the consumable items to progress. On the topic of consumable items, this aspect of the game feels unbalanced as well and seems like it was designed for a micro-transaction model (which fortunately wasn't the case, or at least it never made it into the release). Items that deal fixed damage against enemies with linearly increasing health means that many of the items are not applicable past the first few areas. I'm sure there are some consumables that are worth using, but the whole notion of these being the only way to progress once you've built yourself into a corner (see above) is troublesome. Probably my biggest complaint is the feature bloat. While it's normal to have at least a few things going on to juggle (since I'm not controlling the units themselves), it feels like features were added without considering how they fit into the vision of the game and this leads to a significant amount of bloat: with so many things going on (especially when they clearly are not balanced against each other), the game feels like there wasn't much thought to the overall feel. The game would like play more or less the same with half of the features cut out; in fact it probably would be better if the game had fewer things going on and the features were more fleshed out. I think with some adjustments to balance and perhaps a reevaluation of the games focus, this could be good. As it stands now though, I can't recommend it, especially for its current price.

Harder than I thought and the game doesn't explain how to beat secdon wave... Not sure about repayment seems good but cant get fun for now.
Играть прикольно... но опять же только начало... Потом ты понимаешь что тебе надо проходить только новые уровни, фармить старые бесполезно. А как проходить новый - хз. Арена сильно не помогает... Игра средненькая, на любителя.
The Devs claim they balanced the game play, but there are so many obvious flaws that I don't believe it. Traits cost too much to reroll, certain traits absolutely cripple certain classes. For example, the Guard trait for Warriors force them to stop attacking, preventing them from fighting entirely if the enemy spams units. That is one of many problems. It's mostly playable until level 12. Hard pass
Ta weno, dificil en algun punto.
Gra sama w sobie jest spoko Lecz nie można expić na wcześniejszych mapach które już przeszliśmy na przegranej mapie również nie dostajemy expa
