for fans of - They are billions, Diplomacy is not an option, Gooworld and age of darkness, with a little bit of settlers thrown in Giantfall is still early in it's lifecycle, and on first glance it looks a little bare bones, theres a lot of polish that could be applied to the UI, but as soon as you click new game, you start to see the depth of it - you pick size, you pick climate, even storyteller, as if you're playing rimworld. after you pick your difficulty, and you see the list of boons, you start to see how customizable this experience really is. Giantfall is a game that rewards dedication, and punishes complacence. Each playthrough is brutal, feeling easy until it feels impossible, but each failed attempt is a lesson that carries into future playthroughs, an optimization, maybe 'next time' you might make it through a little easier. Giantfall feels like a cursed cross between stellaris, rimworld, and self-flagellation, but it definitely hits the 'one turn more' itch that every colony-survival playerr seeks. From what i've seen in my (admittedly limited) play time on this game, i can say that the potential for growth is huge. Disclaimer: Played Alpha, and early access
Great game that mixes tower defense and colony sim without cards or random upgrades. I hope more people look into this game! The demo is fun too, it just locks some of the advanced buildings but lets you get a taste of basics fairly well.
love the game, played a few hours now and it can be quite challenging strategically , i keep going back to the easier level to try and figure out best plan, well worth a download and should keep me busy.
Highly Recommended. This is a really fun game, and I love how I can control the difficulty. It is easy to play slow and enjoy building my base and then fighting the monsters when I am ready. Because you can be attacked from anywhere at any time, defending your people can be hard. Especially if you choose the harder difficulties, as they have twists that will make surviving much more challenging. Each time you play, you can find boons that will make your next playthrough easier, making surviving on those harder difficulties easier. I think that it is a really fun, adaptable experience and well worth the time and money.
Build up your village and protect it from the rampaging beasts. Accidentally turn your army into a bunch of rampaging giants and somehow still manage to survive (just)! Pick the story teller to tune the intensity of the experience, which is nice if you want to dial things up or down a lot. Definitely worth a look if you like some city building and defence.
Great game, a cross between a city builder and a strategy game. Great for casual games or action packed depending on which of the Story Tellers you pick. Think as a more casual Age of Empires meets The Settlers. I was lucky enough to get to test the game initially and so got an early key. Since then as you can see I have played a lot of hours! Worth a buy.
I stumbled across Giantfall completely by accident while using ChatGPT to search for obscure settlement games with survival/pressure mechanics. Frankly, I expected to find hidden gems—and somehow still wasn't prepared for how good this game is. In many ways, Giantfall already feels better than several far more well-known games in the genre. The strongest aspect of the game, in my opinion, is the settlement itself. Watching villagers work, solving logistics, expanding production, and seeing a town gradually evolve is incredibly satisfying. The extensive difficulty and pressure settings also deserve praise; after discovering them, many of my initial concerns about pacing disappeared. Edit: Any QoL I suggested has already been fixed by the dev who is very proactive! More than anything, I hope future development leans even further into making villages feel alive. Organic paths forming from foot traffic, daily schedules, a day/night cycle, and deeper production chains could elevate an already excellent foundation into something truly special. The bones of greatness are here. If the developers continue refining and expanding the settlement simulation aspects, Giantfall could become one of the standout games in this genre. Recommended.
Great game with great options and variety to play to suit your level, really easy to lose time and play for ages! Perfect if you fancy a challenge game
Great game only just started playing but it’s easy to figure out and progressively gets more challenging. I love the simple art style. Definitely recommend it to fans of strategy and survival games.
I like how the game is simple at the start and it gets progressively deeper as you go through the days, having to manage the resource supply, the defense of your base and other aspects of your game as well, such as the skill tree. I also like the minimalist style of the game world, and the music as well... it fits that medieval theme really well and honestly it kinda slaps. Some minor details could be more polished/detailed, mainly the GUI, but considering the game literally just came out, and also how small the dev team is, this is honestly an impressive already, and with lots of update potential. Well done Birchwood Games!
