The best game I have come across for locking in! You get to idle with your friends in a cozy environment and earn cute rewards while you're at it. With the added bonus of getting to meet people all over the world, but with no pressure to yap if you don't feel up to it. This has all the tools you'll ever need to help you stay on task!
As you can see, I have played a bit of this game, at this very moment, I do not reccomend it. TL;DR - I love this game, but for a Low graphic, self claiming "background, focus mode, efficient desktop companion" game, it runs like absolute dogwater. Memory leaks up to 32 GIGABYTES, frame drops, and crashes. If you dont have a near nasa PC, it will run like hot garbage by itself. While this is a 4 person dev team, and I give grace to them, the priority list of things is absurd and redundant. Moderation wasnt included until NOW, 6 months later, this was a complete after thought and a fumble because Moderation should have been implemented from the very start. The devs expressed wanting to work along side modders for the betterment of the game, but there is a massive lack in that department with each patch/update; the updates have demolished the best QoL mods with no consideration of the free labor and effort put into them. On the topic of the moderation-after-thought; They made a Cosmetic DLC before thinking of moderation tools... This is mind boggling to me... Have we learned nothing from other social grouping games???? Trolls and idiots are everywhere, this is the internet. On to the memory leaks... This game is so Low graphic/Low-Poly, and VERY minimum in interactivity, this game should not be spiking a users Memory to 32 GIGABYTES. It shouldn't be causing the massive crashes and frame loss like it does. This should be address NOW. For a game promoting itself to be a background, focus mode, tiny window game, it surely performs at rock-bottom, causing it to be the definition of Irony. Make your testing of your updates longer than 3 days. Communicate with your testers to find better times and days so that you aren't green-lighting a dookie update that essentially breaks the game and mods. I love this game, I support the devs and the community, but the priority list and error filled communication will be this games downfall.
I really want to give it a great review but can't recommend it to other people right now. I would love to edit this hopefully in a near future as I do really enjoy the game, the memory leakage is my issue. it is supposed to be a game that is running in the background while you work. I can live with it being on the higher side since its multiplayer, graphics and etc. but it keeps climbing and it has crashed my computer not a small number of times. It is adorable, I love being able to see my character working knowing that someone is also working at the same time, especially in a screen corner. I try to make them do something similar to what I am working on. The outfit and pets are also so cute and I want to constantly unlock all of them. I am going to continue keeping an eye on it, I know there's a small dev team trying to do a lot but the numbers shown by the mac monitor you have to have some insane spec computer to play the game if the memory leaking isn't fixed.
As one can probably tell by my hours logged, I love this game. That being said, it runs like pure unfiltered ass. I'm pretty sure every update has introduced some form of performance issues or memory leaks. I've seen peoples task managers reporting this game eating like thirty GIGABYTES of ram. That's unacceptable for what this game is fundamentally designed to do. This game is intended to sit idly on the side of your screen doing literally nothing while you work, hogging your pc's resources is the LAST thing it should be doing. Often times people who work from home, which this game is almost entirely populated by, don't have some $2k modern pc to run this and I have seen so many reports of people unable to run this game with so much as a drawing application at the same time, it's shameful; do better.
tl;dr if you're a Linux user, do not buy this. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to like On-Together, but unfortunately, it's not really working out for me and I don't see the devs making any changes to address it. It's been a well known issue on Linux that the different desktop modes do not work as intended. The compatibility layer tool commonly used to run Windows programs do not handle window transparency well, either the background of the window being solid black or when transparency is rendered properly, inputs aren't properly passed to windows below it. Many others and I have suggested since the demo to add an alternative desktop mode that just shrinks the window instead of having a fullscreen application similar to gogh. The devs acknowledged it, but it doesn't seem like they care enough about Linux to do anything about it. I have moved on to gogh and highly recommend it, regardless if you're a Linux user or not.
Excellent for friend groups and meeting new peeps. Auto camera rotation seems to be glitchy at certain moments so I just turned that feature off (also because I'm motion sensitive.) Love the character customization options, especially the clothing and floaties. If you like Spirit City: Lofi Sessions, you'll likely also enjoy this. Bonus points for adding a fishing minigame
it's so cute and also more importantly gives my friends no excuse not to finish their homework when i'm sitting right there breathing down their necks about it
Great game!! Helped me focus a lot with my work :)
this game is adorable and helps with my productivity tremendously. i find myself motivated to get more things done while my little buddy is working in the corner with me. i love the ambient sounds and how you can adjust the volume of each one. customizing my little characters is so much fun too, although i would love to have more than just three. the pets that sit on your are probably my favorite thing. the summer dlc is fantastic; i love all of the surfboards. i'm looking forward to what the devs have planned.
Ever since a friend shared On-Together with me I've really loved it! I've loved mutual focus/study groups for many years now and this one has stuck with me. It's so silly and fun and everyone is really respectful. It's caused me to look forward to studying just so I can hop on On-Together. Highly recommend, super worth it!! I have a low specs PC with parts from 2012 also yet I have no issues at all using this.
