Wow, what an amazing game. The game has a thick and gritty atmosphere that fits really well with what's going on. The soundtrack of the game really complements the atmosphere. I did not expect the game's story to be this good, it is best to experience the story without knowing anything. I loved the detailed documents and files that you find throughout the game, they really flesh out what is going on and also what happened before. There is a gameplay mechanic featuring the Grandpa that I especially liked since it contributed to the backstory really well. While talking about the gameplay, the core of it is pretty much the same throughout the game, it can feel a bit repetitive for some but the whole package is so good that I didn't mind it one bit. The game has 2 endings that change depending on what you do as you play, and both of them were satisfying. Piecing the story together was also incredibly satisfying. I've deliberately avoided going into too much detail in this review because I believe the game is best experienced firsthand. Overall this is an incredible surreal/creepy game that everyone should experience once, especially if you're a fan of surreal/creepy games. I highly recommend it and I can safely say that I've become a big fan of Yames.

Growing My Grandpa is fascinating in its own way. If I had to compare it to other horror media, I'd say it feels like an interactive SCP story, but with much deeper themes. The retro horror style suits the game perfectly, and its story is both unique and memorable, even if it's a bit cryptic and convoluted. The biggest takeaway I had from the game is that people aren't what you project onto them, even if you convince yourself that they are.
Great horror game for people who like horror but not being scared (me lol), it's short, cheap, interesting, and the only complaint I have is that there's too much trash to clear and I hate using the mouse that much (old man wrists).
I streamed this game yesterday without knowing what to expect from Growing My Grandpa. What an eye-opening experience. If you want to play this game, I would highly recommend going in blind. This game is haunting. The lore is woven into the pieces of documents you pick up throughout. Yames' brain needs to be studied.
I really enjoyed my short time with this game. It is the type of horror that is oddly comforting. If you are the type of person who enjoys disturbing comfort, I think you'll like this game.
Enthusiastically support whatever the ♥♥♥♥ this dev does. This was fantastic. If you're looking for a horror game that tries to spook you with loud noises and sudden flashes of imagery, I don't know, there's hundreds of games out there for you to play peek-a-boo with for the adrenaline burst. You could also run up and down your basement stairs a couple times between saves in this game, if it matters that much to you that you are startled physically. There is also a "lot of reading" so if you need your game exposition fed to you through quirky streamer voiceovers or 3-sentence blurbs in 20-pt Comic Sans, I guess you'll just have to skip this and pick up something more palatable, like Pajama Sam. This is a great story before anything else, the elements you engage with don't exist to challenge you but to advance the story, and the atmosphere is done masterfully well. I am practically crying pleading begging on the floor that more developers exercise this level of creativity and storytelling, because I'm wilting under the weight of thoughtless streamerslop that doesn't aspire to do much more than look pretty and generate memes.
Wow, grandpa is the nicest man around!
It kinda kills me to say this because the atmosphere, graphics, and sound design are excellent, but this is a monotonous, repetitive and tedious experience that ends really soon. The horror elements are limited to pseudo-scientific documents that try to build an atmosphere, but ultimately its efforts get drowned because the gameplay itself is so boring. There's soul in this game, for sure, but you might get the same enjoyment by watching a gameplay with no commentary.
I don't even have something stupid to say for this review. I loved it so much, couldn't recommend it more. Awesome concept, awesome story, awesome sound design, I could go on. Very unique and surprisingly wholesome at times. 11/10, one of my new favourite games.
Fun little indie horror game. Worth checking out for 5 dollars.
