It plays INCREDIBLY good, seriously. The shooting feels pretty well with all weapons, each with their own way to handle and gimmicks. The movement is sharp and responsive, with good hitboxes for the attacks and few but nice options to dodge (which can be upgraded too). The other thing that this game excels at is the originality and variety of mechanics of the characters and weapons, having to adapt yourself to each occasion, simple things like being able to see the spread of shotguns or a different way to reload faster make the gameplay feel unique and interesting. The designs of the maps and the cowboys does seem... bland and uninteresting, but the enemies and especially bosses make up for that, with frenetic fights and attacks. I do wish there was more spacial sounds for when the enemies appear each zone though (there's only visual indication), and obviously more distinct maps, as they only change visually the more one progress. I'm surprised how good it plays, it's very fun and addictive, with a lot of bosses and guns to try. I really recommend it.
The more I play, the more I'm impressed by the balance this game strikes. On the one hand, it's comfortably familiar to us Action Roguelike fans, with addicting gameplay cycles and different play styles for each character. On the other hand, it's also very unique, and introduces a lot of new elements and ideas to the genre. Everything from the upgrade system down to the combat itself have their own distinct flavors. I think the developer is putting a lot of effort into making this more than just another roguelike. If you're familiar with the Action Roguelike genre, I absolutely think this is worth a try (the demo gives a good idea of what to expect from the full game). I suspect I still have a few dozen hours left to 100% everything, and I look forward to it.
Played once in '24 (EA) and once in '25 (1.0). In '24 I was left with the feeling of "this is fun, just needs fleshing out". After playing it again in '25 I'm left with the feeling of "why did I waste my cash on this random crap?" Played through it once both times (approx 20 mins). Like others say, it feels like a PS2 game through and through. As soon as you've played the first "rotation" you've played them all.
I'm bullish on Space Cowbow
The combat in this is sick. The only thing I'm left wanting is more.
its good game but there is no content not worth the price. its returnal at home
I have paid so much more money for games that weren't even half as fun as this. Simple, but a wonderful experience. Wish the game was a little more stable when enemies and multiplayer numbers climbed, experienced a few frame rate issues, but may be my hardware. All in all, 10/10 experience
Wow what a fun game. I love challenging games. This game is on the difficult side so I recommend it to anyone that likes challenging games and is willing to deal with a learning curve.
Where's the updates? Game was fun but severely lacking content for replayability. No updates since August is odd.
