About
Grim Tides blends tabletop RPG adventure, dungeon crawling and roguelike mechanics, and a classic turn-based combat system into something that feels equally like a solo tabletop campaign or a choose-your-own-adventure book. Detailed worldbuilding, abundance of lore and hand-drawn artwork make every run feel like a story in its own right.

"What is the price of knowledge? What is the price of power that comes with it?"
Welcome to Farhaven, a lone port in an exotic tropical archipelago of the Southern Isles. Far removed from the orderly confines of civilization, the town is a den of crime, decadence and debauchery, standing on the precipice of the unknown. Enter a condemned prisoner who's been offered a chance at redemption in this strange new frontier...
As major factions and powers that be converge around you, you have a tough choice to make: will you be a simple puppet involved in a sinister plot beyond your understanding? Or will you take your fate into your own hands? Whatever your decision, it could have consequences far beyond your wildest imagination, because the hidden depths of the Isles' ancient jungles hide a secret so terrible, it could spell doom of the world itself.
"How far are you willing to go to earn your freedom? What are you willing to sacrifice?"

isa good
I just finished the main quest and liked it, but I don't know if others will feel the same way. Try the demo if it looks interesting, or play it free on your phone before buying. Pros: -weapon/armor variety (+you can add enchantments to them) -the lore -the spell variety -the enemy variety -3 new areas that get unlocked after finishing the main quest (and a 4th one that gets unlocked after finishing a quest) Cons: -sometimes repetitive (you have to go through an area a certain number of times before a boss encounter) -bosses were a little too easy (maybe the first con had something to do with that) Now excuse me, I'm going to play through the new areas.
Enjoyable little game.
grim omens next
I found this game on the Play Store, and we all know that games on the phone are geared towards gaming as a service, so when I found this on Steam I grabbed it to play it in a more comfortable way. It is a classic game that can be repetitive if you are not used to playing games like this. If you have never played, choose the option to gain more experience quickly, it will help you get into the loop of the game. If I can say something wrong about the game, it is that the "pretty" theme does not show the letters well and I always use the "dark theme" to be able to read better. And on the mobile there is an option to put decorative tiles in the dungeons, that would look nice here too.
simple hack and slash style.
Awesome game, super fun, would definitely recommend
I wrote it for Grim Quest, but I'll gladly give my opinion to this game as well. Not sure, which version I prefer, both are 10 stars in a common 5-star-rating! Personally, I believe Grim Tides (which is the second issue but comes as a prequel to Grim Quest) to be a text-based hybrid of Baldur's Gate set in a AC: Black Flag setting (is there anything better for hardcore and old-school role-players?). Yes, it is text based, but the wordly content is par excellence. Years ago when I started Grim Quest on my Android smartphone I was astonished at the (for me) perfect grammar and use of uncommon vocabulary - says the non-native English speaker. But having read several English novel series I'd say I'm qualified to say this. There is a LOT of love going into this game, and the prices (even if not bought in sale and/or as a bundle) are more than user-friendly. It's a one-man project and I'd give the dev every support possible (you can buy him a coffee online) or get the free mobile apps - though I did spend the money for ad-free versions, as the wages do have a positive effect and the 30 second ads distracted me too much from this RPG-adventure! So just in case anyone else sees the need to click wages seperately every time (which probably could be altered), but sometimes it's also useful to first level up by handing in a completed quest and the get increased wages. ;) If there are any questions for this review or game in detail, I'd be happy to give answers to your comments. Sum-up: GET THIS!
Great Background Art
This is a charming game, that has a nice feel and has good art, story, and a good combat style, the only downside is that the combat can get repetitive. It is well worth the cost.
