Tolles Spiel. Nichts macht Sinn.
Story feels incomplete that I couldn't get immersed in it. I have no idea who these people are, and yet I'm expected to feel something if they die somehow.? And who the heck is Edward Maxwell and what the heck did he even do.? I got the idea that he was a bad guy, but that's all I got-- an idea. Puzzles are ok. There was one that didn't make sense to me, some are too easy, but most pose at least a little bit of challenge. Still, there are better HOGs out there.
I absolutely love any and all of the Grim Tale Games...I just wish they all had the bonus items and game
Grim Tales: The Time Traveler, developed by Elephant AR and published by BFG Entertainment, continues the long-running hidden object adventure series with a story that leans heavily into its signature blend of family drama and supernatural mystery. Once again following Anna Gray, the game builds its narrative around a crisis that quickly escalates beyond ordinary explanation, this time involving a dangerous figure capable of manipulating time itself. The premise is immediately intriguing, offering the potential for layered storytelling, and while it doesn’t fully break away from the series’ familiar structure, it delivers a consistently engaging experience for fans of the genre. The story unfolds through a sequence of investigations that take Anna across different moments and locations as she attempts to prevent further tragedy within her family. The time travel element provides a framework for shifting perspectives, allowing players to revisit events and uncover hidden connections that would otherwise remain obscured. This mechanic adds a sense of momentum to the narrative, even if the overall plot follows a fairly predictable arc. Emotional stakes remain central, as the game continues the series’ focus on personal relationships, though the storytelling occasionally feels secondary to the gameplay loop. Gameplay remains firmly rooted in traditional hidden object adventure design. Players explore a series of detailed environments, searching for items, solving puzzles, and using collected objects to progress. The structure is linear but interconnected, with frequent backtracking as new tools open previously inaccessible paths. Hidden object scenes are varied enough to maintain interest, often incorporating interactive elements that go beyond simple item lists. These segments are complemented by a range of mini-games, which provide moments of variety through logic puzzles and pattern-based challenges. While most of these are accessible and straightforward, a few suffer from unclear instructions or lack the depth needed to stand out. One of the more noticeable improvements is the inclusion of modern conveniences that streamline the experience. A map system with fast travel significantly reduces the tedium of moving between locations, helping to maintain a smoother pace. Additional features such as collectibles, morphing objects, and optional achievements add an extra layer of engagement, particularly for players who enjoy fully exploring each scene. These elements don’t fundamentally change the gameplay, but they enhance its overall accessibility and replay value. Visually, the game maintains the polished aesthetic associated with Elephant AR’s work. Environments are richly detailed and atmospheric, effectively supporting the game’s supernatural tone. The use of lighting and color helps distinguish different settings and time periods, adding subtle variation throughout the adventure. Character models and animations, while functional, are less refined and can feel somewhat static. Voice acting is present but inconsistent, occasionally detracting from immersion rather than enhancing it, especially for players familiar with earlier entries in the series. Despite its strengths, the game’s reliance on a well-established formula is both a benefit and a limitation. The structure rarely deviates from the expected pattern of searching, solving, and unlocking, which can make the experience feel repetitive over time. While the time travel concept adds a narrative twist, it does not significantly alter how the game is played. Additionally, the overall length may feel relatively short, with the main story progressing quickly once players become familiar with its mechanics. Pacing can also be uneven, as the narrative is frequently interrupted by gameplay segments that follow a predictable rhythm. While this is typical of the genre, it can reduce the impact of key story moments. Some puzzles feel more like obstacles than meaningful challenges, and their placement can occasionally disrupt the flow of the experience. However, for players who enjoy the steady, methodical progression of hidden object adventures, this structure remains satisfying rather than frustrating. In the end, Grim Tales: The Time Traveler is a solid and dependable entry in a long-running series. It offers a polished presentation, an engaging if familiar story, and a gameplay loop that remains accessible and consistent throughout. While it doesn’t push the genre forward or introduce significant innovation, it delivers enough quality and atmosphere to satisfy fans of hidden object adventures. It’s a game that succeeds by refining what already works, even if it doesn’t take many risks along the way. Rating: 6/10
This game is a good game on sale. It is not that long, but it still enjoyable.
Wished it had been a bit longer but a decent puzzle and object find game
