Grim Legends 3 is a slightly above average Hidden Object Mystery and the first in its series to not be directly based on a fairy tale. There's a nice urban fantasy noir feel to this tale of monster hunters. The plot is okay and there are some interesting sights in the distorted city.
这部剧情很屎,没有什么特比的新鲜感。
Grim Legends 3: The Dark City, developed and published by Artifex Mundi, delivers a refined and atmospheric hidden object adventure that leans heavily into gothic storytelling and puzzle-driven progression. As the third entry in a long-running series of narrative-focused games, it doesn’t aim to radically change the formula but instead sharpens it, offering a more cohesive story, greater puzzle variety, and a darker tone that helps distinguish it from many similar titles in the genre. The narrative follows Sylvia, a monster hunter tied to a secret order tasked with containing supernatural threats. When a dangerous artifact is stolen—one capable of unleashing a destructive entity known as the Koshmaar—she is drawn into a mystery that unfolds within a sprawling, shadowy city. The story places greater emphasis on intrigue and personal stakes than many hidden object games, weaving together themes of loyalty, betrayal, and hidden power. While the plot follows familiar genre beats, it is presented with enough care and pacing to remain engaging, gradually revealing its secrets rather than overwhelming the player with exposition. Gameplay remains rooted in the hidden object puzzle adventure structure, but it benefits from a noticeable effort to diversify its mechanics. Traditional hidden object scenes are present, but they are complemented by a wide range of puzzles that require logic, pattern recognition, and creative use of collected items. Progression often involves combining objects, deciphering clues, and interacting with the environment in meaningful ways, which keeps the experience from feeling repetitive. The puzzles vary in complexity, generally remaining accessible while still offering moments that require thoughtful problem-solving. One of the more distinctive features is the inclusion of Rune Battles, which introduce a light combat element into the otherwise puzzle-focused gameplay. These encounters require players to match symbols strategically to counter enemy actions, adding a layer of interaction that breaks up the rhythm of exploration and item collection. While not particularly deep, this mechanic provides variety and reinforces the game’s supernatural themes. Additional sequences, such as memory-based challenges, further contribute to the sense that the game is trying to expand beyond the standard hidden object formula. The setting plays a crucial role in shaping the overall experience. The city of Lichtenheim is brought to life through detailed, hand-painted environments that emphasize atmosphere over realism. Narrow streets, dimly lit interiors, and ornate architecture create a sense of place that feels both immersive and slightly foreboding. The shift toward a darker, more grounded aesthetic compared to earlier entries gives the game a more mature tone, aligning well with its narrative themes. Each location feels carefully constructed, encouraging players to explore and absorb the environment rather than simply move from puzzle to puzzle. Pacing is handled effectively, with the game maintaining a steady balance between story progression, exploration, and puzzle-solving. The main campaign offers several hours of content, with a bonus chapter extending the experience further for those who want additional closure. The structure ensures that players are rarely stuck in one type of activity for too long, keeping the experience engaging from start to finish. However, the difficulty remains relatively consistent throughout, which may leave more experienced players wanting a greater sense of challenge as the game progresses. Audio design supports the atmosphere, with a soundtrack that complements the game’s darker tone and helps reinforce key moments. Voice acting, while serviceable, can be uneven at times, with some performances feeling more convincing than others. This inconsistency does not significantly detract from the experience, but it does occasionally break immersion during more dramatic scenes. Despite its minor shortcomings, Grim Legends 3: The Dark City succeeds in delivering a polished and satisfying hidden object adventure. It builds upon the strengths of its predecessors while introducing enough variation to keep the formula engaging. The combination of a compelling narrative, diverse puzzles, and a strong visual identity results in an experience that feels complete and well-crafted. In the end, it stands as a confident and well-executed entry in its genre, offering a balance of relaxation and mental engagement that will appeal to fans of narrative-driven puzzle games. It may not redefine what a hidden object game can be, but it demonstrates how effective the formula can be when executed with care and attention to detail. Rating: 8/10
Just ok
Und wieder mal das Böse besiegt und die Welt gerettet...gibt es was Schöneres zu Feierabend?
I loved this game, in fact I like all the Grim Legend games. It's colourful and has a lovely story attached to it which is nice to go through. The puzzles were good and hidden objects screens I loved. Well done to those who made it! I hope there's more to find.
Fantastiko. Jedna z najlepszych gier z ukrytymi obiektami. Bardzo polecam.
