This DLC takes everything great about grim dawn and flips it on it's head. It adds too much fluff without enough substance. Most of the areas are huge for the sake of being huge.. They're devoid of exploration, wonder and monster packs. A sprint function, a mount, or any other way to speed through these areas is desperately needed to make this expansion enjoyable, especially with the npcs and objectives you need to backtrack to being so far away from the riftgates. On a positive note, I personally like the shift towards more meaningful combat and actually having to tackle fights in different ways. The new class and items are nice too,
Turns out game fundamentally changed in 2023 with the v1.2 shift to movement / dodge / acrobatic playstyle. Which didn't happen during a DLC drop, as the previous DLC was 2019. This means nothing in the store page for the new Fangs of Asterkarn DLC warns you that the game you are revisiting has completely changed! It's even worse. if one considers that the old Grim Dawn is no longer available on Steam. The dev reached into my game library and replaced a single player game with an entirely different one. For whom? The hardcore squeaky wheels? They forgot just how much of their returning player base are "filthy casuals" for each DLC release. Update: Good to know. I may switch to the v1.1.x artefact - which is incompatible with DLC now being sold - to enjoy the game I paid for; once I've recovered from the toxicity of the forums which are clearly not being managed.

Fangs of Asterkarn DLS. Boring and not the GD in the overall mood anymore.
Grim Dawn itself is fantastic. This DLC is very underwhelming and not really worth it.
No idea how we ended in this debacle, but the DLC has not been properly been tested and suffers from really poor balance (even after multiple patches). I won't repeat what others have already said about the rest... just stay away from this.
Grim Dawn is the best game of its kind. No competition. Or at least it used to be. Not too long ago, I'd give it all the thumbs up there are. Now however, it pains me a great deal to give it thumbs down. After three years of waiting on a new DLC, it turned out to be a bugged mess that crashes constantly. It never crashed before, not even once in hundreds of hours of playtime. Currently, the new content is unplayable. What the hell, Crate Entertainment?
Like the game Forgotten gods and Ashes , absolutely despise Fangs of Asterkarn. No point in elaborating since the developers are also man-children that can't take people not fellating their product as the best thing ever, specifically Zantai that appears to refuse to accept what they made can be anything but perfect. Bold stance for someone who worked on a product where you have ui elements showing "Tag not found” and core mechanics needing to the fixed after being delayed for 2 years.
As much as I enjoy the QoL improvements, FoA is bringing to the game, there are so many (new) flaws that I have to give it a No. :-/ Especially the new campaign and it's areas are just plain boring. Huge, empty, boring. The new main hub city is a nightmare to navigate through. Some old items - my build relied on - have been nerfed hard. In the new areas there are enemies (normal mobs) that can heal themself faster than I deal damage with 60k+ dps. Some enemies deal no damage at all to me - in the first place - and suddenly one hit kill me out of nothing. In the end I hope, some patches later this will turn out to be better. For now I just cannot recommend it. Overall - of course - I am and will be playing the living hell out of this. Still I don't enjoy it as much as FG or the main game itself.
Without spoiling too much: The main-quest "The Cleansing Ritual” should not be present in this addon - at least not as a mandatory main-quest that blocks all other progress. Up to this point it was a decent addon, but this quest alone deserves a thumb to go down.
Lack luster DLC compared to the others and not a good direction with the new mechanics. Honestly really surprised this is what came out after years of anticipation.
