The idea of the project is just great,I advise fans of this genre to take a look at this game. Raise an Orc , from the first day of the Orc's life , through childhood, adulthood, old age, to the day when you move on to the afterlife.Become a cruel beast that is feared all over the world. Take him through a life of plunder and gluttony. I recommend the game strictly for an adult audience.
By swiping left or right to choose between two decisions, Green: An Orc's Life is a text-heavy, gamebook-like adventure game where you'll play as a newborn orc who grows up and eventually sets out to make a name for himself. However, unlike gamebooks, which I adore, you can't customize your own orc - even a simple name change would be great - and the game seems to leave its players guessing at what certain icons mean.
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgWMe5SxJxo - Watch me rose to power as the first orc emperor and ruled to the ripe old age of 84! It's my first playthrough too ;)
Pros
+ Lots of mini-adventures to set off on. + Your choices do matter in this game and may even decide, for instance, which alliances you'll get to keep later down the road. Quell your orcish impulse to just wreck everything and you might find the game a lot easier to play :) + Storytelling is pretty okay, and will likely end well for you if you choose the "cunning" route more than the "brawl-y" route. Violence isn't always the answer, even for an orc :) I quite like the rise to power part of the story - after all, it's good to be emperor of all orcs :) + Besides the simple swipe left or right mechanics, which was popularized by a mobile game that I can't recall the name of, it has a gamebook-style gameplay where your stats will be used to determine whether you are successful at passing a "skill check" or not. The same applies to wars and battles where a check will be done between your orc army and your opponent's. Seems like no dice roll is required though! + Seems to offer some form of gameplay continuation, as in you can play a random newborn orc that "has potential" after your former orc avatar dies. However, there doesn't seem to be anything connecting your previous avatar with this new one. It's not like this newborn orc is your son or something. + Love the ending (after your orc died) where the game will chronicle the biggest achievements (and failures) of your, hopefully, fruitful life. + Not too hard to play if you use common sense. Managed to live to the ripe old age of 84 in my first playthrough.
Cons/Feedback
- Typos - for a text-heavy game, it's important to fix these. - Tool tips please! I had no idea what the 4 icons under the name and age of my orc means. I have some guesses however. It'd be also nice to have concrete numbers or percentages of various stats in the tool tips. Some explanation about what certain items/consumables do would be nice too. - Or simply put, maybe add in a tutorial to explain some stuff? - No orc customization. Would be nice if we could at least change the name to something we'd like. Maybe let us choose from a selection of preset names, so we could mix and match first and last names to create something unique. - Cannot have a family in this game despite being an all-powerful orc king. - Not sure how many different encounters/adventures/events available in this game or that whether or not I'll start seeing repeats in my second playthrough. The asking price might be a bit high if the variety of scenarios is somewhat limited. - I'm not sure about you but I'm not a huge fan of the art. It's not utterly terrible but I'm just... not a fan.
Overall
I completely agree with another reviewer that Green: An Orc's Life is an "acquired taste" kind of game and may not appeal to everyone. Graphics aside, the game has a gamebook-like vibe which I love; a story about a young orc's (you!) gradual rise to power where your decisions and choices matter; and a cool historical summary at the end, chronologically listing out your greatest accomplishments (and sometimes failures) within your lifespan. Definitely a game worth looking into if you enjoy text-heavy stories but you might want to grab it at a discount! Funny game, some tamagochka about orca, where it needs to be raised from the very childhood and bring it to power through robbery and robbery
Мусор с кривым управлением и накрученными отзывами...
I am very surprised. I played through several times and, although there was some card repetition, I discovered new things every time. I even became a werwolf-orc! Excellent journey into a fantasy world, where you have to think like an orc to find the best solutions.
A very addictive game, playing as an orc, you will learn a lot about their style of brutal life, theft and lots of fun.
+1 Orc
Awesome orc simulator, you can even become an orc king and rule your kingdom.
Green: An Orc's Life is mobile app that's been dumped on Steam. It's a ripoff of the mobile ported interactive novel/clicker, Reign, but with an orc theme. Gameplay is about the same, you have 4 health bars and you are presented with endless binary choices, the outcome from which will increase or decrease your health bars. If any one of them runs out, it's over. There's no real gameplay here, just "swipe" left or right (the developers seem to have confused PC gamers with mobile peasants). There's no graphics or anything, it's like a Choose Your Own Adventure book that never ends and doesn't have any plot whatsoever. Who thought that was a good idea? $6 for PC gamers, $4.39 for mobile peasants on the android app store. The developer clearly despises PC gamers. Such disrespect to PC gamers, and pushing bundleware which is barely a game is not going to get a thumbs up from me.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
I really enjoyed this game. It takes about an hour at most , if you survive long enough to die of old age. Granted, I was checking my phone and doing other things while playing, and honestly I love a game that allows that. If you're familiar with the " 60 Seconds!" games, you should enjoy this. I survived to 100 on my first playthrough, and apparently you can be reincarnated, I'm guessing that means a stat buff at the beginning. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2763354679
