Gravity Whipped is an incredible game! It scratches that gravity platformer itch (more like a gaping hole) that's been lingering since 2010 when Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out. (That's over 16 years ago!) It might not be a fully 3D platformer like Galaxy, but it has a nice 2.5D vibe - and that's made even more impressive by the fact it was made by just one guy! The game's main mechanic is the Gravity Whip - a mythical whip than can alter the direction of gravity itself - which leads to all sorts of mind bending puzzles - especially when you consider how nicely it fits with all the other unique mixes of mechanics each level offers. There is a nice balance between slow-paced, mind-vexing gravity puzzles and fast-paced split-second action platforming. Between linear 2D levels and open-ended 3D worlds. Between bright cloudy skyscapes and dark dingy caves There are so many secrets to find in this game - and probably even more that have yet to be found... You will spend hours looking for every nook and cranny. You'll experience the joys of maxing your powerups - the excitement of finding hidden doors... The panic of barely holding on with only one life left while fighting the final boss, or racing to beat a time challenge before you explode! This game has a lot to offer, especially when it's on sale. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves platformers like Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Fez, VVVVVV, Metro Gravity, and maybe even Cavern of Dreams, Pseudoregalia and Corn Kidz 64. It truly is an indie gem.
Quite a fun little platformer with a unique rotation mechanic. There's a surprising amount here. Just when I think it's over another world is revealed with more new mechanics and cool vibes.
Gravity Whipped was a fun and unique platformer. The level designs were thoughtfully designed and challenges strike the perfect balance between tricky and rewarding. The mechanics add a refreshing take on genre. The art style and music are fun and quirky and add to the game's charm. Highly recommend!
The game is a fun casual puzzle platformer. The gravity whip mechanic is a bit disorienting at the beginning, but becomes second nature as you play and the game teaches mechanics and tricks to make it through its puzzles. The game is a bit short, but the three difficulty levels do add some replayability to the game. As a person who completes their games as much as possible, I did enjoy the collectables. Every level has a collection of coins and gems to find. The coins are not difficult normally, but a few are in odd positions that require tricky jumps or knowledge of the game's mechanics to get. The gems are often well-hidden though not all difficult to get. The blue ones are even more hidden. Completionists might struggle with a few collectables, but it wasn't frustrating. There are speedrun challenges that do require knowledge of the game to complete. I did a few and they were fun, but I'm not much of a speedrunner and they eventually ramped up in complexity and technique so I could not complete them all. The times are tight and do require knowledge of the game mechanics to complete them. They are good and I am sure people who enjoy speedrunning would enjoy them. Overall this game is a good freshman effort from a new developer. I look forward to seeing what they develop next!
