Honestly quite a good game, but with some serious flaws. The whole grappling thing feels fine, but the other parts of platforming can feel quite sticky (floor/walls) or floaty (trying to nail a tight jump). There's also a memory leak in there somewhere I presume as the longer I play the worse the lag gets. Some of the bosses are also really really hard to hit due to either their hitbox size or whatever else is happening on screen, and for one the platforming requires near perfection. All that being said this game has the best swimming I think I've ever seen in a game before. 7.5/10. If you want a 2D platformer, might as well try it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is so cute. You play as a dog and have animal friends and there's lots of silly dialogue. That's, unfortunately, about the extent of the things I like about it, though. Like others, I'm not a fan of how the controls work—specifically the grappling which is like, the main mechanic of the game. I do enjoy how, like many platformers inspired by Super Mario, each level introduce a new stage mechanic that you learn how to use and evolve with along the course of the level—however, the fact that you are quite often locked out of backtracking (meaning you have to redo parts of levels to get collectibles that you've missed) and can't look up or down (which, imo, is a staple of platformers that have collectibles), sometimes makes levels feel like a chore, rather than something fun. I also agree with user Little Headsman's review in that there feels like there is no progression. Sure, there's a lot of things to pick up, but it really feels like they don't add anything to the game other than maybe getting an achievement for doing so. The game is also way too easy for me and while I've read that it does get harder (with a bit of a ridiculous difficulty spike, apparently), the gameplay itself isn't fun enough for me to keep playing. I was really looking forward to enjoying Grapple Dog (along with it's sequel) and honestly, if I was about 9 or 10, I probably *would* have enjoyed it. But it just doesn't have enough nuance for me.
I enjoy. Grapple Dog is a very charming game with fun character designs, with an enjoyable soundtrack. Gameplay wise is also good, the movement feels nice and everything flows really well, the levels designs/layouts are diverse and there be plenty of shiny things to collect!
This game is amazing, the controls are super tight, characters are full of life and humor. Well worth picking up!
The first game released by Joseph Gribbin's studio Medallion Games, Grapple Dog follows the trials of a hapless dog named Pablo and his quest to stop a threat to the world after inadvertently enacting his universe's equivalent of Revelation 20:7...long story. Aiding him in his quest is his crew of fellow research assistants, their boat, and a grappling hook that codifies how the game uses momentum and physics as a platformer. Pablo's grappling ability lets him swing from blue blocks and launch himself great distances with the right timing, naturally, but it also works as a mobility tool and weapon in other respects. See, the main way to proceed through the game is to acquire purple gems to help you progress, and the skillset you'll have to learn to get said gems really depends on a mastery of what the game has in front of you. Certain jumps seem hopeless until you realize Pablo's grapple shot holds you in midair for a split second regardless of whether you hit a grapple-able object, for example. Helping bolster this colorful adventure is a delightful soundtrack by Jazz Mickle. Good stuff!
C'est super jusqu'au niveau avant le 3eme boss, ou les sauts exigés sont insensés.
I'm going to mark positive, BUT, this game can be pretty rough. To start, this game is two things at once, but they are somewhat separate experiences. It is both a collect-a-thon and a precision platformer with a slight emphasis on momentum. You can play pretty casually, however you prefer, but you'll have to see both sides occasionally to progress. If you want to do everything, like I did, you need to fully complete the collect-a-thon and get a good time on all the levels. Thankfully you can do these on separate plays of a level, so going for 100% means playing the level twice (you can't get a good time and find all the shiny things on one go, the collectibles are too far out of the way.) As a cozy collectible hunting game, it's good but not amazing. Some of the collectibles are hidden in places you would never go, like off-screen over a lava pit all the way to the right. As a platformer, it's good but not amazing. The grappling hook is fun to use. The momentum system can be a mood-killer at times. Running and jumping and bouncing and swinging are really fun and feel awesome, and the levels are made to make you feel cool doing it. Momentum is a little bar above Pablo that increases as you move forward. He starts by walking, picks up speed, then once full, Pablo breaks into a full run. If you stop or change direction, you lose momentum. I'm oversimplifying and there are a lot of ways to keep it, but you get the idea. This is novel and fun to manage for a while, but can be frustrating on the harder time trials since losing it at any point can effectively end the gold medal run. There's nothing to spend your collected items on besides cosmetics and unlocking levels, and no progression in the game past receiving the grappling hook. This never bothered me, but I know it's a problem some have with the game. The story and writing is just light-hearted and silly with no substance. Some chuckles to be had, with plenty of jokes that fall flat. The music is good but there is only 1 track/song per area. With 5-ish levels per area (and needing to play them 2 or 3 times to get all the shiny things), the music gets VERY OLD VERY QUICKLY. This bothered me a lot and it became grating towards the middle/end of each area and I had to turn it off. The story and writing are not a large focus, and there were some mistakes or weird decisions made in it's creation. It's a solid novel experience for a casual playthrough. When you want to get all the collectibles and medals, the cracks become obvious and you might have a frustrating time. The platforming and collectible finding is fun, there are just some unfortunate decisions/mistakes made in the supporting parts of the game. Overall the game is good fun and I recommend for the gameplay.
this game is fun i guess
