About
Governance is a groundbreaking new political and social simulator that aims to fuse a real-time approach not seen in political sim with real world data, providing the most realistic simulation of modern politics. Focusing on UK politics, you can play as a Member of Parliament, the leader of a political party or the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Featuring over 1000 dynamic events, 50 unique policies, a dynamic economic system and tightly-knit integration of real-world data, Governance marries realism with fun political wargaming.
The key to Governance is making friends in the hope that they further the policy goals that you have. You have to get on to get far… or build up enough dirt on the way to bully your way into the halls of power! Network with peers, join think tanks, go to lunch with lobbyists, and ultimately gain enough momentum to make the change you want to see in the world.
Rather than the traditional left-right axis, Governance employs our multivariate Entity Beliefs System. Combining internal ranking on up to 12 different co-existent axes, linguistic analysis and historical background, Entity Beliefs are truer in nature to the complex nature of ideological and non-ideological beliefs. Original belief systems and schools of thought surrounding a policy platform can develop and evolve as your game continues.
Machivelli said "whoever wishes foresee the future must consult the past" - if only he was around today to remind our politicians of this simple truth...
The actions you take today will completely change events in 10 years. A scandal you think you have buried could come back if you aren't wise to where it's coming from. The 'natural party of government' can collapse under its own weight.
You can use the in-game Wiki system and Address Book to find the movers and shakers, what information is both widely known about them... and what information you have learned that others haven't!
Unhappy with modern British politics? Start your own party and see how it copes with our electoral system. Unhappy with the choices made by the party elites? Throw those policies away and move in your own direction! (If the party bigwigs will let you...)
Governance also includes deep tooling to help you mod the game further, allowing you to create new events, belief systems and parties for your own custom scenarios with ease*.
This is a work of fiction and (in the case of the Game Edition) political satire. Names, political parties, characters, places and incidents either are products of procedural gameplay or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

Not fully completed yet but amazing game and amazing concept.
Can see a lot of potential. I have recommended it purely on potential and dev proactivity. Have encountered quite a few bugs, but dev is incredibly active fixing those issues. If you want a fully functional political sim with no bugs I can't recommend it but if you want to be part of the process of getting this game to that state, I say give it a punt.
Really great game with a lot of potential.
Fun game that you can play for hours, some aspects are a bit broken but it's early access. Would recommend getting it now or waiting a little bit.
good
Forget all other reviews and read this one. Governance is the next big game of this genre. It’ll be Political Process and Governance that share a crown of this genre. Any problems you encounter (I have yet to deal with one) is understandable considering this is an early product. The level of quality this game is in at such an early stage tells me it’ll only get better. If the price is your biggest problem then I must say you are a big baby. I strongly, strongly recommend this game if you enjoy political simulators.
It's quite a good game, yeah sure, a few bugs here and there but over all, it is fun, could be nice to have more fixes though.
Very regrettable decision releasing so early, these reviews will haunt you forever. Its just not enjoyable. It has a good premise and maybe ill come back to it at some point, but the camera is so broken, and it pauses itself so often (every time an event occurs, the entire game pauses itself into a bugged state), i cant play it properly. It doesn't work properly and shouldn't have been released so early.
good game would like to see more countries
As it stands, this should not have been released in EA. It's very buggy, and it's not clear what features are not yet available. Political Capital is massively unbalanced and doesn't seem to be generated differently depending on your role (surely a prime minister can generate political capital faster than a back bench MP?). Even something as simple as "how many seats does this party have" is broken on the main screen, only getting updated at a general election, not after each of the many, many by-elections. The seat projections are way off - you wouldn't want them to be 100% accurate as that's not realistic, but my Green party was forecast to win 12 seats and ended up winning 650. It could be good, but at the moment it's a buggy mess, and should be taken out of EA to allow it to be developed more fully. It feels like pre-Alpha testing stage right now.
