About
Governance is a groundbreaking new political and social simulator that aims to fuse a real-time approach not seen in political sim with real world data, providing the most realistic simulation of modern politics. Focusing on UK politics, you can play as a Member of Parliament, the leader of a political party or the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Featuring over 1000 dynamic events, 50 unique policies, a dynamic economic system and tightly-knit integration of real-world data, Governance marries realism with fun political wargaming.
The key to Governance is making friends in the hope that they further the policy goals that you have. You have to get on to get far… or build up enough dirt on the way to bully your way into the halls of power! Network with peers, join think tanks, go to lunch with lobbyists, and ultimately gain enough momentum to make the change you want to see in the world.
Rather than the traditional left-right axis, Governance employs our multivariate Entity Beliefs System. Combining internal ranking on up to 12 different co-existent axes, linguistic analysis and historical background, Entity Beliefs are truer in nature to the complex nature of ideological and non-ideological beliefs. Original belief systems and schools of thought surrounding a policy platform can develop and evolve as your game continues.
Machivelli said "whoever wishes foresee the future must consult the past" - if only he was around today to remind our politicians of this simple truth...
The actions you take today will completely change events in 10 years. A scandal you think you have buried could come back if you aren't wise to where it's coming from. The 'natural party of government' can collapse under its own weight.
You can use the in-game Wiki system and Address Book to find the movers and shakers, what information is both widely known about them... and what information you have learned that others haven't!
Unhappy with modern British politics? Start your own party and see how it copes with our electoral system. Unhappy with the choices made by the party elites? Throw those policies away and move in your own direction! (If the party bigwigs will let you...)
Governance also includes deep tooling to help you mod the game further, allowing you to create new events, belief systems and parties for your own custom scenarios with ease*.

This is a really interesting game with obviously a long way to go, but for an early access look I was pretty happy with it. The complexity of the Constituency map, real world data, it's really interesting and a really clever idea for a game. I'm really curious where this goes, some more variety on events and some UI/UX changes, (especially sound and maybe even music, as the finer details as to why a game clicks are all in that final polish).
The game had a very rocky start which explains the negative reviews but after devs listened to the players’ concerns and fixed main issues in a day the game is finally playable. It clearly has potential and at this stage of early access is enjoyable. I recommend this game to everyone who enjoys UK politics and look forward to what it will bring after the game fully launches.
The game clearly has potential, but at present it is nowhere near ready to be publicly playable. Repeated events, that aren’t exactly clear on what your decisions actually are, many glitches, and generally just not fun. I cannot recommend in its current state, although perhaps I will explore it again in a few months time.
Good game but the map is a bit laggy
Undeniably early access, but shows amazing potential. An investment for sure, but one that I can already see is aiming to be the ultimate uk politics simulator.
Brimming with potential but the choices you make don't seem to have clear outcomes on the next turn. I will definitely check back later, and a workshop option for mods to add various details would be great. I would hold off for now.
Wow, what an amazing basis! Incredibly fun to just sim and spend some time exploring the simulated world. Worth a buy! It is early, but maybe the best foundation for a political game I've ever seen. Things like an actual in game wikipedia, great historical tracking, events, etc. Amazing for those who love politics and data, and seeing the world change!
I've never left a review before. I desperately want to enjoy this game but it just doesn't work yet. If I am an MP I get events triggering like I am the PM. Polling for local constituencies doesn't work. A tutorial would be awesome because it is hard to understand what is going on. There is tons of potential here, but it is not even close to enjoyable at the moment.
honestly even though its really buggy for me, I love where this is headed! EA does not mean ''bugfree'' so I wont complain too much yet, keep it up guys!
The game has enormous potential. If the concept is fully developed, it could become one of the best political simulation games out there. Unsurprisingly, since it's still in Early Access, the game has some bugs and rough edges that can occasionally slow things down, but nothing too serious in my experience. I also want to emphasize the developer’s incredible responsiveness. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about the project and takes the time to reply to players and address many of the issues and suggestions brought up by the community. I can only feel optimistic about the future of the game. 🇫🇷 | From a French player | 🇫🇷
