The Kingdom of Myrtana has been invaded by a relentless horde of orcs. Alkimia Interactive hat sich einen der größten nostalgischen Erzbrocken für ein Remake ausgesucht, bei dem man eigentlich nur scheitern kann. Und was haben sie daraus gemacht? Ein absolutes Meisterwerk. Ich könnte schwören, dass das 1:1 das Gothic ist, was ich vor 25 Jahren geliebt und bis zum Erbrechen gespielt habe. Erschreckend ist, dass ich damals davon ausging, dass Videospiele spielerisch und von der Immersion her immer besser werden und Gothic erst der Anfang ist. Heute denke ich, dass damals scheinbar schon der Zenit erreicht war und durch das Remake merke ich, dass dieses Spiel seiner Zeit gnadenlos weit voraus war. Das Ding ist für mich immer noch besser als 99% der Spiele, die heutzutage rauskommen. Als ich zum ersten mal Gothic gespielt hatte, dachte ich "Boa, wie geil wäre das, dieses Spiel mit richtig geiler Grafik zu spielen" und jetzt ist es endlich soweit. Es kam direkt in der ersten Stunde wieder das alte Gothic Gefühl auf. Man trifft auf das erste – vermeintlich harmlose – Monster, wird beim ersten Treffer fast getötet und während man sich noch wundert, warum das Zuschlagen selbst so schwer fällt, ist man bereits das erste mal gestorben. Dann trifft man wenig später auf den ersten Scavenger, den man schon ganz anders beäugt und der einen komisch anbrüllt, quasi als Warnung. Schnell erkennt man, dass die altbewährte Taktik "ICH WILL ZU MEINER MAMI!!!" zu rufen und die Beine in die Hand zu nehmen die richtige sein könnte. Man trifft mit gezogener Waffe auf – vermeintlich – hilfsbereite NPCs, die ihrerseits aber selber die Waffe ziehen und einen höflich auffordern die Waffe wegzulegen. Tut man dies nicht, nun ja. Dann endlich am Alten Lager angekommen spricht man mit der Torwache und lässt erstmal einen lockeren Spruch ab, weil man ja denkt, man ist als Neuer sofort der Größte. Schade, dass die Wache keine Humorvollen Leute mag und einen erstmal erschießt. Willkommen in der Welt von Gothic. In dieser Welt wird einem nichts geschenkt, man muss sich alles wirklich verdienen. Es sind nicht nur Stats, die man nicht greifen kann, die einen stärker machen. Es ist auch eine Steuerung, die gefühlt besser wird, wenn man die passenden Skills lernt. Quests sind mehr wert, als nur Erfahrungspunkte, man sammelt auch immer neue Erkenntnisse über die Welt. Alleine das man nicht mit Questmarkern zubombadiert wird und keine Minimap mit Autopilot hat bringt so viel Immersion. Da heißt es dann "Geh am umgestürzten Turm vorbei, einfach dem Weg folgen, dann am Teich links halten und durch die Felsschlucht. Und weich besser nicht vom Weg ab". Wenn man sich dann nicht wirklich an der Umgebung orientiert und zu spät feststellt "Hm, eine Karte mitzunehmen wäre gar nicht so doof gewesen", kann man schon mal verloren gehen. Das tolle: Die Gegner führen einen schon wieder auf den richtigen Weg, da sie einem die natürlichen Grenzen der Welt aufzeigen. Das ist auch das Tolle: Man kann im Grunde von Anfang an überall hin, die Frage ist halt, ob das so klug ist, wenn man noch nichts drauf hat. Ich glaube das Remake würde beim kleinsten Detail, was nicht passt, auseinanderbrechen (zumindest bei den Nostalgikern). Aber die Entwickler haben das Spiel in so einer Perfektion nachgebaut und wirklich Wert darauf gelegt es so originalgetreu, wie möglich zu belassen. Die Sprache und Intonation ist dieselbe und selbst die Unvollkommenheit der Steuerung ist gefühlt dieselbe. Vermutlich wurden selbst Bugs übernommen. Jeder, der ein Remake erschafft, bitte hier abgucken. Mir werden zudem schon die Knie weich, wenn ich nur darüber nachdenke, dass die Chance für ein Gothic 2 Remake besteht. Meine übliche Beschwerde habe ich aber noch: Auf sehr hohen Details habe ich mit meiner RTX 3080 bereits fast die 1.21 Gigawatt erreicht, noch bevor der namenlose Held in die Kolonie geworfen wurde. Es passierte praktisch nichts auf dem Bildschirm und es wurden satte 300+ Watt gezogen. Ich dachte wirklich der Fluxkompensator zündet gleich und lässt mich das original Gothic zocken. Eigentlich müsste jedes Unreal Engine Spiel heutzutage einen Hinweis tragen, der vor Folgekosten warnt.
