Whether you're a seasoned Gothic veteran or this is your first time being thrown into the colony, you're in for a true RPG experience with unrestricted exploration like no other.
The Kingdom of Myrtana has been invaded by a relentless horde of orcs. Desperate for powerful weapons to repel them, King Rhobar II orders the mining of vast quantities of magical ore, setting every available prisoner to work in the Khorinis mines. To ensure no one escapes, the King commands his most skilled mages to erect a magical barrier. But something goes terribly wrong, and the magic spirals out of control, trapping everyone inside. The prisoners rebel, transforming the mine into a lawless territory ruled by the Colony’s most brutal inmates.
Now, the King must negotiate with these new rulers, as tensions rise among the mine's factions. Amidst the chaos, the arrival of an unknown prisoner will change everything …

La pechá' de cosas que tienes que hacer para unirte a los fumetas de la jungla. 10/10.
Game is a chore to play about 25% of the time. The world is beautiful and the lore is well written, but its also full of janky physics and bugs. The other 75% is one of the best fantasy RPGs I've played in years. It is very challenging, but there's no enemy scaling, so once you power up it's very satisfying to defeat enemies that once destroyed you. Usually in games like this I get bored in the later acts once the gameplay loop gets stale, but the story was good enough that I stuck around until the end, even after my character was over-powered. Highly Recommended for all the fantasy nerds out there.
The story is original (masterpiece),graphics look good (need a little optimization),long range combat (awesome),magic looks good(awesome special effects).now the bad stuff: -close combat has downgraded (in gothic 1 original the commands where quicker and more responsive. when the close combat skills where max you can fight multiple enemies without taking a single hit...now with max fighting stat you barely fight two opponents without taking damage). Now the thing about lockpicking is a disaster!!! in the new game lockpicking is time consuming and its not fun at all! instead of take time explore and do sidequest or dungeons (awesome RPG things) you as a player stay for 10 to 20 min to solve a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minigame for lockpicking!!!(lockpicking is a downgrade for the game and you lose the track of the lore, fighting, surviving and being the Nameless Hero!) dont recommend to pay 50 eur for this game! it was hard in the past, now they make it harder with nonsense puzzle lockpicking ♥♥♥♥! the old lockpick system was a masterpiece. 5/10 for the game.
Alkimia understood what gothic is and delivered a remake worth its legacy.
Für Gothic 1 Fans eine 11/10

finally! can't wait for second one to be remastered as well.
You should watch the playable teaser from 2019 (https://youtu.be/TTb8ILmrZFA?si=Y6DY5s8DAob6mzTJ) to understand how terrible this remake could have been. Diego was a jester, the combat system horrible, the character´s voice annoying AF, no punch in the face as welcome, a mix of the Witcher and AC, developed for controller only with the worst motion sickness ever. Luckily, they abandoned that project and started anew, and the result is a remake true to the original. It is a fun, difficult, and frustrating game at first, but it gets way better from your second playthrough. Choices matters (try to run with Whistler´s money or to lie to Gomez) and joining different factions gives you slightly different outcomes for a bit more longevity. There are no quest markers, no maps until you buy one, no fast travel, and everyone will always try to steal your ore. Unfortunately, they badly reworked some of the skills which are now completely useless and I can only hope they will be reworked: • Lockpicking: so annoying I stopped lockpicking • Pickpocketing: gives no exp gain • Smithing: hardly making money or special equipment • Hunting skills: selling prices are ridiculous. Only good for mages? • Orc weapons: never used • Alchemy: more expensive than buying a potion. • Diving: only for some chest but then lockpicking again • Fist fighting: never found a real use for it • Crossbow: bow is way superior Also, they introduced a nonsense dynamic price, and a questionable armor upgrade system. Nevertheless, still feels like the old Ghotic and I totally recommend this game. Waiting for Gothic 2 remake, the best of the entire series IMO.
