About
GORE is a found footage horror experience that immerses players in a mountain range designed to resemble the scenery of the Rocky Mountains. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Lovecraft, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and John Carpenter’s The Thing, this game pulls you deep into a decaying wilderness where something incomprehensible is rapidly spreading through the surrounding environment. You must discover where this fleshy entity came from, armed with only a flashlight and handheld camera.
This game is an environmental and psychological horror that will have the player on the edge of their seats. You can expect lots of twists and turns and maybe a couple of jump scares! You will also find a lore-rich and linear story with reliance on high tension and fear of the unknown. The game's story is told through the players' inner dialogue and through notes scattered around each level. Triggering dialogue events and notes via exploration will unlock new areas, allowing the player to progress through the game.
> Handheld/ VHS-like post-processing and realistic movements, creating a nostalgic, yet uncanny experience
> Two fully fleshed out (pun intended) levels which includes mountains, caves, labs, and...?
> An original soundtrack composed by myself
> A LOT of fleshy entities, huge eyeballs, and mutated remains
> Completely custom mountain Ranges and landscapes
> Toggleable flashlight for dark areas
> One insane twist that you don't want to miss out on!

Definitely worth it for $2 if you like indie horror walking sims. It doesn't really have an ending and it's really short but overall it's a creepy game with good visuals and an interesting premise.
an dumbass game a 20 minute walking simulator with the ending is you walking into the backrooms and there's a random red fungus that does nothing but make noises and have eyes that stare at you 2.1/10 an dumpster fire of a game

Put off playing this for a while after reading reviews, and really glad I ignored them to give it a try. Yes the game is short (roughly 30ish minutes?), yes the plot is fairly rudimentary and ends abruptly (honestly I wasn't expecting the twist from the get-go... maybe it was obvious to others), but the game is literally just a few dollars... I think that makes up for any of the shortcomings - though I can't speak to performance since my build is fairly overkill. Personal highlight: there was a great attention to detail in the modelling of the "GORE". It wasn't a simple copy-paste throughout the experience, and I enjoyed observing it the entire time. Looking forward to trying more games from this dev!
This was my first dive into this style of game, and I really enjoyed it! Way better to play with headphones in a dark room.
Question...How does the disappearance of Harold Holt in 1967 play into this? Curious addition to the lore. Cool short foray into the outcome of the mishandling of a cosmic object. Nothing good happens in secret underground labs contained within a cave system located inside a National Park. Just sayin'.
