The problems that are written about in other reviews have mostly been solved in updates. If the bad reviews were making you hesitent about buying like I was, then get this game. The inventory system was fixed to be less cluttered, and there is a hotspot/item indicator button which eliminates the problem of pixelhunting.
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
A first-person puzzle game with a heavy emphasis on exploration and finding hidden collectables. The first game involved beating lots of small, self-contained escape rooms. This game is completely different, to the point that I think they should've given it a different name. You don't need to play the first one to play this one. While you start out solving small escape rooms, the game quickly opens up into a massive estate and grounds that you have free reign to explore and solve puzzles in whatever order you want. About half of the puzzles can be solved as soon as you see them, but the other half require a bunch of items that are scattered around the island, and it's not always clear which is which. I spent some time attempting to solve puzzles I wasn't capable of solving yet; and I spent even more time convinced that some puzzles weren't solvable yet when they actually were. There's probably around 200 items to find in this game. Some of them are really well-hidden - I don't think I would have found them even if I was given 200 hours. Fortunately, the developers (recently?) added a feature to ping nearby hidden items. I would've preferred if they'd drawn attention to hidden items using lighting and highlighting instead of a button you have to actively press, but this is still definitely way better than nothing - I would not have recommended this game without this feature. About 90% of the puzzles were good, which is very high for a puzzle game. There's a good mixture of deductive (you know the goal and have to figure out how to get there) and lateral-thinking (you have to figure out the goal) puzzles. There were a handful of terrible puzzles, but there is a hint system which can help you through most of them. One of the puzzles is so bad that the developers updated the game so you can just take the prize without solving the puzzle (they admitted this is intentional in the forums - I don't know why they didn't just remove the puzzle). For almost all of the puzzles I had troubles with, it turned out that I didn't see some tiny, hard-to-find detail somewhere nearby. Overall, I really enjoyed this game. Though, I enjoy "collectathon" games - if spending hours exploring and finding collectables in a puzzle game doesn't sound like a good time to you, definitely avoid this game. If however that sounds like exactly what you're looking for, you won't find many better than this.
great series of games, complex n well thought out puzzles, highly recommended
You should buy this game
A quite wonderful game if you like puzzles. 40 hours of fun and some really good problems to solve. Takes place in a vast house and grounds but isn't just moving slowly from room to room. The puzzles and clues are spread all around and you're free to roam. By far my favourite of the genre.
This game is definitely a memorable experience with some emotional rollercoasters. The price may seem a bit steep, but trust me, it is worth every single penny. The basic plot is that after inheriting a mansion from your (emotionally not so) intelligent uncle, instead of having the opportunity to finally lie back, you end up on a secret society's island where your intelligence is further tested. You need to find out all that is about the island and its residents through diaries, clues, and by invading their private space. Only your presence indicates you actually have a right to be there. The puzzles... oh lord. Without any spoilers, let's just say I hope you realize you need a bunch of paper and pen to take notes on literally EVERYTHING, as later on that will save you some time when you realize the whole picture. And not exaggerating, your desk will look like one found in a maniac's lair: numbers, codes, lists written down EVERYWHERE. But completely worth it. Some puzzles are very easy to take you off the edge, while to figure out others you need a full 1 hour or so sitting with your papers, muttering combinations. At times I think my husband was genuinely afraid of me. The graphics are a beauty. The sizzling of leaves on the trees, the atmosphere, the little details in the rooms are astonishing, I loved every single pixel. This game is humorous, graphically on spot, and is visible the developers gave it a lot of thought, love, and COLLECTIBLES. And at this point I'm sure the developers need a huge hug, because putting in 150+ COLLECTIBLES through a CHAIN OF PUZZLES is either a sign of lack of childhood (HUN: volt nektek gyerekszobátok? :D ), or on the contrary, the best and most imaginative childhood one can ever have. Some say genius is just a spit away from madness, and this game proves it. Devs, I raise my hat. Great game, superb music, lots of humor, immense puzzles and damn you for being able to convince me to search one last sketch card for half a day... For this latter I'm still unsure whether Stockholm syndrome makes me write a good review :D I hope there will be a third installment, but if not, eagerly awaiting your next game, I'm definitely following your work <3
