a really pleasant little game, some parts got more love than other the city is small but well done, stealth is decent, combat is really lacking wish wasn't there but isn't an option for the bosses, colorfull cast could have aim a little higher narratively less texts everywhere and more cutscenes (there is litterally non explanation for the minions monsters), if there is a sequel i don't want to see the cop out of the curfew, the switch from daily life and horror is a big part of goosebumps but it was for budget probably. the two endings are really what elevate this game the chef kisses for any fans while still being very original and creative
This game is really fun to play and kept me hooked from start to finish. The story is amazing, with two different endings that make it worth replaying. What makes it unique is that it doesn’t rely on the classic Goosebumps monsters like Slappy it introduces a completely new lore and fresh storyline. As a longtime Goosebumps fan, I really enjoyed seeing something original while still capturing that spooky Goosebumps vibe. Definitely recommended! here is pros and cons list PROS ✅ + voice actors are amazing ✅ + gameplay & puzzles are fun ✅ + cartoony graphic ✅ + not heavy game even works on potato pc ✅ + copy of predator in the game ✅ + two ending & shocking ending ✅ + New story and lore ✅ cons ❌ - there is no slappy and others goosebumps iconic monsters in the story ❌ - short game 4 hours long to beat it ❌
Note: Mild Spoilers. I'm a pretty big Goosebumps nerd. I'm not a big collector type person like GoosebumpsAussieFan, but over the course of my life I've experienced a lot of Goosebumps material, both for my amusement and for my hobby of powerscaling, so I know my stuff (Especially when it comes to Slappy the Dummy). With that said, one thing I can absolutely appreciate is the fact that this video game is more geared towards the original novels (Particularly the original 62) instead of the movies. Pretty much all new Goosebumps content that isn't the mediocre Disney+ show relies on the movies, and I'm kind of tired of that. Not to say those movies are bad or any material that takes from them is bad, but it is very tiring. So I love seeing all the little references they managed to pack into this game, both big and small. I appreciate all the little odds to Amaz-O, Camp Jellyjam, Horrorland, Slappy, and the fact that the story revolves around The Girl Who Cried Monster (Which is also one of my favorite stories in the original 62). They even reference relatively obscure books like My Hairest Adventure, Go Eat Worms, and How I Learned to Fly, which really tells me that the people behind this game had an admiration of the franchise. They easily could've just referenced all the same stories that the movies didn't, but no, they did their homework which makes it feel more caring and human than something like Goosebumps Dead of Night. As for the game, its alright. It is simple and I didn't encounter any glitches in my playthrough. It is a bit too easy, if I had to say anything negative about it, like healing items weren't hard to come by, a good chunk of the puzzles were easy to solve, and the AI can be pretty stupid. Almost kind of to the point that I didn't end up using either the smoke pellets or noisemaker pellets that much. Also rather short, like I was exploring a lot looking for references and lore, and it still only took me seven hours. You could argue that is probably a better thing given how simple it is, and the current hellscape of gaming where everyone is trying to make a forever game with thousands of hours of content, which I think is fair. As for the characters, the voice actors did a suitable job, especially the lead Sloane, but honestly I feel like the side characters (Whose names I honestly forgot) were barely present in the game. Outside of the three or so missions where they're directly involved, they were practically nonexistent. Also the dialogue in general can feel rather stilted, feel fake and has caused my immersion to be broken a few times. My single biggest complaint is the price. 40 dollars is too much for this game, both in length and what is actually present. I appreciate that they decided to have an introductory sale that dropped the price down to 36 dollars, but still that is a bit much for what you're getting with this, especially if you decide to get the Frightmare Edition whose main selling point are in-game cosmetics in this singleplayer game. Despite its flaws, I like this game. I think it does a good job at being a kids horror game and does a good job at actually feeling like a Goosebumps project unlike The Vanishing. It gives me a little bit of faith for the future of the franchise, bringing the spirit of the series back from the dead. Give it some more lore that perhaps mentions icons like Slappy (DLC?) and shave down the price to something like 20 dollars, and I can be comfortable in saying that it is worth a buy.
unfinished clunky trash.
This game's pretty fun! Some of the puzzles can get kinda tough (especially for kids), but nothing you can't figure out if you pay attention. Honestly though, it's kinda sad there's no New Game+ or extra save slots. I really wanted to check out the other ending but no way I'm replaying the whole thing.
sexy game
My heart was racing every stealth quest. The way some of the monsters pop up from behind added to the excitement. Altogether a good introduction for young gamer's to start playing horror theme games.
