I put off playing this for years because I thought it was a horror game. It's not, for which I am so grateful. Beautiful environmental storytelling.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

in my opinion, this game is a masterclass in walking sim design. The story is very touching and there were multiple moments that really dug deep for me. The music is also great and definitely complements the voice acting, really making you empathize with the story's characters and what they're going through as you slowly uncover the big picture. Unrelated to the story, one of the biggest positives of this game for me is the clear attention to detail put in by the developers to make the world feel real and lived in. I feel like most walking sims I play are very static in that there's usually not much for a player to do other than walk and look. Obviously, you do plenty of that in this game as well but what really stood out to me was how many little details the developers implemented that I wouldn't even think about if they weren't there, but really appreciated when I experienced them. An example of this would be (very light spoiler)
all the cassette tapes you can find around the house and listen to.
Another one would be a personal experience I had early in the game where I threw a book on top of an office chair and saw that the chair actually spun from the momentum of the book landing on it. Outside of these small interactions, I also really liked how almost every single object in the game has some significance to the story. (slightly less light spoiler)
Figuring out that the skull I was looking at in the very beginning of the game was actually a gift from Lonnie was really neat and definitely helped me better connect with the characters.
All these details together create a world that geniunely feels larger than the sum of its parts. TLDR: the game is really good and can easily be beaten in one sitting. you really have no excuse to not give it a shot.
I played Gone Home originally a little over a decade ago, and it remains one of my favorite mystery games of all time. People like to call this a walking simulator, and it is, but the actual thing about it is that the information in the game is structured well enough that the actual gameplay is the experience of interpreting the deeply ambiguous information in a potential crime scene. The whole story is not in the voiceover segments, but in the differentiation between the story in the voiceover, your character's stated interpretations, the text of all of the documents, and the physical clues in the game's environment. That is a meaningful puzzle worth unraveling.
The description of walking simulator is inaccurate, There was a great deal of reading and listening simulation too.. It took me a long time to finally get around to playing this game but I'm glad I did. The voice acting was great and the design of the house was very well done. I found myself drawn into the story, my only gripe was that the story could have had a better ending, something with a bit more punch. For the majority of people I would recommend getting this game on sale, But if you are geared towards this type of game then I do think it justifies its full price.
Wasn't entirely sure what was happening at first, but Gone Home ended up as a very interesting and well written narrative adventure. Please play this without looking too much into the story.

What a lovely little game. I enjoyed the story, I particularly liked digging around in the father's things. It really was a touching walk through the house. I felt things. I don't want to say what I felt because I don't want to spoil it, but I certainly felt. After completing it blind, the run to collect the achievements was also charming.
