GOKEN, developed and published by GIANTY Inc., is an action RPG that deliberately channels the spirit of older hack-and-slash adventures, favoring straightforward mechanics and nostalgic design over modern complexity. It presents itself as a return to a simpler era of the genre, where exploration, real-time combat, and steady character growth form the backbone of the experience. Rather than trying to compete with large-scale contemporary RPGs, it focuses on delivering a compact, accessible journey that emphasizes familiarity and charm. The story follows a once-legendary swordsman who awakens after a long absence with his memories fragmented, setting him on a path to recover five sacred swords tied to his past. This premise leans heavily on classic fantasy themes—lost identity, redemption, and ancient power—and while it doesn’t introduce particularly original ideas, it maintains a consistent tone that fits the game’s overall design. Dialogue and interactions are presented in a light, occasionally humorous way, giving the narrative a sense of personality even when it remains relatively simple in structure. Combat is built around real-time action with a focus on responsiveness and adaptability. Players can equip multiple weapons and switch between them on the fly, each offering a different range, speed, and style of attack. This system encourages experimentation, as certain enemies or situations are better handled with specific weapons. The mechanics themselves are easy to grasp, relying on basic attacks, dodges, and stamina management rather than complex combos. While this simplicity makes the game approachable, it can also limit the depth of combat over time, especially for players looking for more intricate systems. Still, the ability to adjust tactics through weapon choice helps maintain a sense of variety throughout the experience. Character progression introduces a layer of customization through a system that allows players to enhance abilities and attributes using collectible resources. This adds a strategic element to development, as players can tailor their character to suit different playstyles. However, progression is not always smooth, as acquiring the materials needed for upgrades can require repeated encounters or extended exploration. This can slow the pacing, particularly in the mid-game, where advancement begins to rely more on grinding than on natural progression. Exploration plays a central role in shaping the overall experience. The game features interconnected environments filled with hidden paths, dungeons, and optional challenges that reward curiosity. Movement through these areas is methodical, and while the pace can feel slow at times, it reinforces the game’s emphasis on discovery rather than speed. Unlocking new abilities or weapons often opens previously inaccessible areas, giving the world a sense of cohesion and encouraging players to revisit earlier locations. This design choice reflects its old-school inspiration, where progression is closely tied to exploration and gradual mastery of the environment. Visually, GOKEN adopts a colorful, stylized aesthetic that blends anime-inspired character designs with vibrant, painterly environments. The contrast between the light, almost whimsical visuals and the more serious narrative themes gives the game a unique identity. While the graphics are not technically advanced, they are consistent and appealing, creating a world that feels inviting despite its simplicity. Performance is generally stable, though the presentation occasionally shows signs of its modest production scale. Despite its strengths, the game does have its shortcomings. The simplicity of its combat system can lead to repetition, particularly in longer play sessions, and the reliance on grinding for upgrades can disrupt the overall flow. Additionally, players accustomed to modern RPGs may find the mechanics lacking in depth or variety. These limitations are not necessarily flaws in design but rather the result of the game’s commitment to a more traditional approach, which may not appeal to everyone. In the end, GOKEN succeeds as a focused and nostalgic action RPG that captures the essence of classic hack-and-slash gameplay. It offers a satisfying blend of exploration, combat, and progression, even if it does not push the genre forward in significant ways. For players who appreciate straightforward mechanics and a slower, more deliberate pace, it provides an enjoyable experience that stays true to its inspirations. For those seeking innovation or complexity, it may feel somewhat limited, but its charm and consistency help it stand out within its niche. Rating: 7/10

Ah Yes!! Love the old classsic, i prefer this kind of kinda simple action rpg which have less time to play as we are getting older & alot of thing need to do in life, this game is really a savior. Its help me stay calm & enjoy the lockdown of convic-19 apart from working from home. Took me 3 days to finish it with all achievement & without using any sort of walktrough, the only 1 thing that i look for hint is the beggar u need to donate certain amount..... THis game is like YS, alundra, zelda, brave fencer musashi accept it doesn't have jump capability but this GAME IS GREAT. Humor wise its not that impressive compare to like brave fencer but the game play is just awesome. Thank You developer for this GAME. U should start something like brave fencer musashi since for som time there has not any game that preceed it in terms of game play & humor... the fundemental is already there i think. Pros: 1. Dont take ages to play, a little bit of grinding fo equip, lvl & money but still achievable without wasting month & life. 2. Great graphic the texture remind me kinda like wildarms (not the battle part) but with more actual movement 3. Great soundtrack ( any soundtrack that loops in ur head is great) 4. Full controller support PS4 controller babe, me loving it!! Cons: 1. Not able to fully use ink on all slot........there a limitation. 2. Less info or hint on certain hidden quest. 3. Only 2 dragon crystal available? so can only max out 2 weapon....... 4. Collected elemental soul stone but seem like there are no use for it accept for achievement?.......seriously..... 5. No jumping?.......the fkin dragon keep flying & I cannot hit it & need to run around in circle.......!@#$%^&*( That all for now nonetheless it is still a GREAT GAME!!
Gran juego, buenos gráficos y buena banda sonora. La única pega que le vi fue la pobre traducción de los diálogos al inglés y la imposibilidad para mejorar las espadas, al menos en la versión para Linux.
I hope you can add Chinese and other Chinese patches. If you don't use them, the code will be disordered. Now the game will collapse and retreat. You can't play it
