Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.86/day in the week to Aug 26 → 5.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
When civilization is decimated by rampant plague, a lucky few emerge from the ashes. Help them settle in a dangerous wilderness reclaimed by nature. Build them a home, shape their lives, and defend them from bandits and beasts in a lawless, realistic post-calamity world. The Dark Age is yours to rebuild.

From three lost travellers to a thriving walled city, build greatness from desolation. Use 3D terrain tools to create the perfect stronghold, from sprawling multi-storey forts to winding underground caverns. Construct, furnish and decorate your chambers, workshops, chapels, libraries and more, using stone, clay, and other gathered materials.

Each settler is a unique character. Consider Grimbold, for example. As a Swineherd, his Animal Handling is second to none. But his personality is Savage, so he’d make a strong Brawler. He likes nice clothes, his religion is dear to him — and he’s hungry. Satisfy Grimbold’s needs, use his talents, and he’ll be a happy settler — key to a happy settlement.

Build impenetrable defenses and set traps against unrelenting waves of raiders. Research and craft medieval tech, arm your settlers and command them in battle. Tailor your strategy to your villager’s skills, and upgrade them through hunting and combat.

Explore your randomly-generated multi-level map and manipulate it to your will. Terraform the earth and water for construction, design, or military strategy. Build up or dig down, go humble or baronial, and use the modding tools to unearth a whole new level of creative freedom.
We think you'll love Going Medieval if you enjoy...

Surprisingly Great! Amazing depth, better than Stronghold. Scaling down instead of up is interesting choice by the developers. After some time playing. I must say it really works.
Not recommended — Too overwhelming and poorly explained For me, it’s a no. The game looks interesting overall and I can definitely see the potential, but I found the experience way too overwhelming. There are so many options, menus, icons, and things displayed on the screen that it quickly becomes difficult to understand what you’re supposed to do. I constantly found myself getting lost in the interface. My biggest issue is that the game does a poor job of explaining its mechanics. The tutorial starts off well and guides you through the basics, but it lasts less than five minutes. As soon as you start your first proper game, you quickly realize that there are tons of mechanics and systems that were never explained to you. I don’t mind games having depth or complexity, but Going Medieval desperately needs a better tutorial and a more beginner-friendly introduction to its systems. Right now, it feels like the game throws everything at you at once and expects you to figure it out yourself. There’s probably a great game underneath all of this, but for me, the learning curve and cluttered interface made it more frustrating than enjoyable.

So this game is alright. i like the rimworld style of play but when a friend of 80% sends an extortionist and i refuse to pay it and it drops to -21% i have to stop playing and ask myself wtf is going on. ZO_hueman's review said it best.
I kind of feel like I'm being reductive here but I really cant find a good reason to play this over Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress. I know you are supposed to review a game on its own merit and all but it's competition is way too prolific to pretend It just doesn't exist.
This game has borrowed so much from rimworld I cannot play it
Building Mechanics are fun, but... Characters have no Personality, and no life, they seem superficial, just mindless workers. The mechanics they decided they wouldn't allow in the game are what makes games like this special, there's not even much individuality in the clothing/weapons you can craft for them. After playing for awhile I realized i was just in an endless building and farming loop with absolutely no concern for my Settlers at all. Combat seemed rather Easy. Workshop is going to be the saving grace for this game, it seems to be active enough with several new mods coming out per week. If I get to the 200 hour mark on this game I suspect it will be because of the workshop.
