About
When civilization is decimated by rampant plague, a lucky few emerge from the ashes. Help them settle in a dangerous wilderness reclaimed by nature. Build them a home, shape their lives, and defend them from bandits and beasts in a lawless, realistic post-calamity world. The Dark Age is yours to rebuild.

From three lost travellers to a thriving walled city, build greatness from desolation. Use 3D terrain tools to create the perfect stronghold, from sprawling multi-storey forts to winding underground caverns. Construct, furnish and decorate your chambers, workshops, chapels, libraries and more, using stone, clay, and other gathered materials.

Each settler is a unique character. Consider Grimbold, for example. As a Swineherd, his Animal Handling is second to none. But his personality is Savage, so he’d make a strong Brawler. He likes nice clothes, his religion is dear to him — and he’s hungry. Satisfy Grimbold’s needs, use his talents, and he’ll be a happy settler — key to a happy settlement.

Build impenetrable defenses and set traps against unrelenting waves of raiders. Research and craft medieval tech, arm your settlers and command them in battle. Tailor your strategy to your villager’s skills, and upgrade them through hunting and combat.

Explore your randomly-generated multi-level map and manipulate it to your will. Terraform the earth and water for construction, design, or military strategy. Build up or dig down, go humble or baronial, and use the modding tools to unearth a whole new level of creative freedom.

It seems devs won't support the game on Linux distros. Old versions of EA worked just fine on Linux. Since end of EA and changes in game's engine, many graphical issues and drops of FPS are reported on Linux distros. No response from devs to bug reports on Discord, on Steam forums or others. On older versions, game is really fine. But now it is unplayble on my computers. Thumbs up when this issues are fixed.
Although i find it to be fun playing the game, there're still some point i'd like to give before you buy this game: 1. How come this game graphic need so high spec? Although maybe because of my PC, but you can be the judge as i'll attach my PC specs to this review. I felt it have to run smoother than i expected, but in the end, i achieve 40fps or so with my PC spec. I rather have more gameplay but that's what you can get from today's era of gaming. 2. Don't play it casual, it become boring fast. Play it on "Raider" mode, or at least make custom on more raid mode. Played it casual for +35hours, no raider no excitement, i should have played on higher difficulty mode. I'll play again with a new game in the future as i've learned all the ropes. 3. This game is more of a sandbox base building rather than average colony sim where you're given more freedom in building your base rather than managing a colony. There're some element of colony sim, but all that is rather simple such as schedule (eat, entertainment and sleep), skills, jobs, and role. At least there's pets and barn animals. But that's it... No major internal conflicts (although there's some minor), no outsider politics, no devastating event and no population productivity AKA have children. That's what i got from playing casual, or maybe the higher difficulty gives many suprises. Why don't y'all buy the game and find out? 4. So many things i want from this game, but thank God for the mod community. My advice, after you played for 20 hours or so, go check the mods. There're many things that made this game more fun to play. So that's it, that's all i got although i expected more from this game. But still a fun game to play in these modern era of gaming. It's all my opinion but overall, i give this game 8/10 Thank you for your attention...
Please read the reviews written by ZO_hueman and goobydrewbie. I want to love this game but unfortunately (and specifically) both of these reviews perfectly capture the reasoning behind mine being Negative. 2 months later game has had updates, still not a medieval colony sim, still a "cozy house building sim" with few extra features. Wish i could refund
I love this game. With 1000+ Hours it is just the right game to spent some time in building a fortress for your villagers. Over and over again. You just have to love it. Try it.
I really want to love this game. I stopped playing a while ago and picked it back up a few weeks ago. I got really far with my settlement but not I have a very high chance of not being able to load my settlement saves. I get stuck on "loading complete". The Devs just blame mods. A discussion with another player/mod informed me that this issues happens with and without mods. Steer clear unless you like all of your hours put into a settlement to be worth nothing after a few in gam years.
Been following this game since its initial early access release, very steady and transparent development cycle with and experimental version that is updated nearly twice a week or more. game has come an absurdly long way and continues to improve endlessly. I couldnt recommend another sim game better than this one.
I've been playing the game for a while and the longer I play it the more I like it. Game keep you attached to it like a good movie and it is very hard to break out. Just an amazing work on details and something that is not usually visible on the first sight.
9/10 for me much better than rimworld. masterpiece Even more content would be nice. Expand to other maps with my people, for example. Thx awesome game so far.
