This game is about protecting a small crystal with your little village fighting off hoards of enemies! I think they got the concept bang on in my eyes... I mean I did end up dropping 80 hours into this game so idk what to say. For 5$ Helllll Yeahhh
The developer comes along, drops a banger, leaves.
hidden gem
Just......no. Controls are awful, UI is a mess. Gathering your idle workers is a huge chore. Your followers won't fight an enemy right in front of them. No tooltips. Do I need to continue?
A really cool, cheap, indie game that many people will really get into, at least for a while. The game is pretty unique where you must defend a crystal by building up a small town, defenses and an army while gathering resources from creatures and areas around the map. You play as a hero, of which you will eventually have 3 choices (Sage, Forgemaster and Scion), who level up by spending resources (one of two anyway). Leveling makes you stronger and unlocks new spells / abilities of which there are 5 for each hero. Beyond that though, each hero plays completely differently having different units, builds and upgrades. Each night you will be attacked by hordes of creatures that will get progressively harder with new types of creatures coming in later stages. You can also get attacked during the day though when certain buildings become active, which you can stop by destroying the building. There is no true campaign, just a random map which you can try and beat. This almost feels like a small campaign though, even though a win will probably only take you a couple of hours to potentially win. Normally this would be a big negative but a really didn't miss a full blown campaign with this as beating the maps is rewarding. Winning it not easy though, the game is pretty tough and may get frustrating (on normal). Once you learn how the hero works and how to aggressively strip the map of resources though you will find it not really as hard as it initially seemed and will probably win more than you lose. The biggest weakness of the game is that things are not explained very well. For example it is never explained that the sage's houses can improve most other building when built adjacent to them, or that the Scion's houses shoot at enemies. Maybe some of that info is hidden away but this is a real time game where reading will get you killed. Other than that, the game won't win awards for it's looks. Really recommend this game to those who like action strategy games that demand all of your attention and are okay with the required trial and error play style of this game.
This is that good ♥♥♥♥
If you're on the fence about getting this game, you should just buy it. It's def worth more than the cost, hours of fun. :)
For 5$ this game is great. Low price aside it's stands it's own as a genuinely fun game. You play as the champion of your people, you have different attacks and abilities, but you can't kill everything yourself. You'll need to set up a village, collect resources and build an army to fight with you. There's a lot going on in this game that I wouldn't expect for 5$. Multiple characters to choose from, but not only that they all seem to have their own building/army techs that really differentiate their play styles. City management is pretty intuitive and fairly easy, there is no downside to quickly moving people around to various jobs. Swap them from a builder to a gatherer to a soldier and back again. There are quite a few enemies to fight and they all have their own attack patterns and sometimes abilities. Something I really like here is that when you kill larger enemies you can send your villagers out to drag it's body back to town and hack it down for resources. The game is fairly difficult but not overly so once you get a hang of things. Summary: A burger combo is 10$, gives you 10 minutes of entertainment A movie is 12$, gives you 2 hours of entertainment This game is 5 bucks, gives you 10+ hours of entertainment
Lovely little RTS. If it looks interesting, then I think you'll like it for 5 bucks. Only downsides I can think of are some awkward default hotkeys and some poor teaching of the mechanics (or maybe I'm just dumb and missed things early). Otherwise it is a fun and challenging time. The different characters are cool and have unique play styles, and the third character is pretty fun to unlock. When to buy?: Full Price
