like the game and the fact that there is a tons of stories to ear,
Gameplay & Combat The transition from a fixed-camera hack-and-slash to an over-the-shoulder, tactical action game is executed brilliantly. The Leviathan Axe feels incredibly heavy, satisfying, and responsive—especially when recalling it. The combat is tight, brutal, and highly engaging. My Rating: 8/10 Visuals & Art Direction A visual masterpiece. The artistic direction perfectly captures the cold, mythical, and grand scale of the Norse realms. From the towering remnants of giants to the breathtaking design of the Lake of Nine, the game is a stunning technical showcase. Story Writing & Cutscenes The narrative is a masterclass in storytelling, focusing on a deeply personal, intimate journey of a grieving father and his son. The writing is emotionally mature, and the use of the single-shot camera technique (no cuts) creates an immersive, seamless cinematic experience that keeps you glued to the screen. Audio & Soundtracks The sound design is stellar. The booming, deep voice of Christopher Judge as Kratos, combined with Bear McCreary's legendary, heavy-Nordic orchestral soundtrack, elevates every single battle and emotional beat to epic proportions. Technical Performance Flawless and incredibly polished. On both PC and console, the game runs wonderfully with virtually non-existent technical issues. My Rating: 9.5/10 Innovation Reimagining one of gaming’s most iconic, angry protagonists into a quiet, protective father while successfully changing the entire gameplay genre is one of the most innovative and riskiest moves in modern gaming history, and it paid off beautifully. My Rating: 8/10 Level Design The game features an excellent "Metroidvania-lite" level design. The Lake of Nine serves as a dynamic hub that opens up new areas and secrets as the water level drops, making exploration feel rewarding and naturally integrated. Themes At its heart, the game explores themes of fatherhood, grief, breaking the cycle of violence, and the burden of past mistakes. It’s a touching, human story disguised as an epic myth. Sense of Progression The progression loop is highly satisfying. Upgrading the Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos, finding new Runic attacks, and crafting armor for both Kratos and Atreus makes you feel visibly and mechanically stronger as the journey unfolds. Value The game offers exceptional value. Every single cent spent on this masterpiece is completely justified by the sheer quality, length, and polish of the experience. ⚠️ The Major Flaw: Boss Variety & Repetition While almost everything in God of War (2018) is nearly perfect, it suffers from one major, highly frustrating flaw: extreme boss repetition. The game has a severe lack of unique major boss fights. Instead, you constantly fight the exact same Troll and Ancient bosses over and over again, with the game merely changing their colors and elemental attributes. This repetitive boss design feels incredibly lazy and monotonous for a game of this caliber. 🏆 Overall Score for God of War (2018): 8.5 / 10
