BottomLine at the Top: A remake of a MAGS (Monthly Adventure Game Studio) 2016 submission, this is a short but sweet retro style P&C game with a sci-fi story and a few difficult puzzles. Pros ------------------------------------- -Has kind of an SCP feel to it. -Started right up. No setup headaches. -Good quality voice acting. -Atmospheric music. -Free! Meh. ------------------------------------- -Using the music calming button to listen to music while the main game music is playing in the background is weird. -More "lighthearted" vs hilariously funny. -Going back and forth between rooms and dealing with reprogramming control chips gets tedious. -Short, about 90min of gameplay. Cons ------------------------------------- -Only one save/load slot. -Elevator puzzle is annoying and it made me feel like the GNRBLEX was sucking on my brain. -Can't cancel out of leaving a room by clicking elsewhere if you've already clicked on a door to leave. -No autosaves. -Got stuck trying to figure out how to deal with GRUE. Double click to examine item is an unintuitive control. -Some scripting events are clunky (having to recheck a box that was clicked on previously and was told there was nothing useful in it, then having to check that box again after you need an item but not knowing that item was in there because it said there was nothing useful in it in the first place). Despite some tediousness and one or two migraine inducing puzzles I'd recommend it to P&C fans looking to kill an hour or two. I want to thank WHAM, a member of my Steam P&C fan group the Coalition of Point and Clickers (check us out!) for providing a pre-release copy. I hope he releases more high-quality P&C games like this one in the future! Very nice. Nice pixels and puzzles.
GNRBLEX is a game where you play a scientist who must get two creatures to mate so you can prevent them from going extinct. This game is very reminiscent of the old point and click games that I played way too many of as a kid but was a lot of fun to play. Some of the puzzle solutions are a bit convoluted but none of them felt unfair. It really requires players to keep their eyes open for anything and read everything very carefully. This game was a lot of fun to play and I highly recommend to people who grew up on point and click browser games like I did.
İnsan beyni enerjisiyle beslenen asalak bir yaratık olan Gnrblexian Mind Maggot'un neslinin tükenmesini önleyebilir misiniz? Sen istiyor musun? ...ama neden?
For some reason I don't like this game but it's hard to explain why - the graphics are pretty good, the story is original(ish), the controls are mostly fine and the puzzles are OK, if a bit on the tedious side. It's also a free game so it feels very unfair to downvote it. I think the dialog is just awfully bad and the voice acting - while clear - is just beyond annoying. I hope I don't ever have to listen to this again.
Free to everyone at time of review. A humorous sci-fi point and click adventure with retro graphics, fully voiced and with music, and it's free! The voice acting is actually pretty good, too, which is more than I can say for many early "talkie" games (I'm looking at you, King's Quest V). I lost my first game, because I quit for the night and had forgotten how to calm the GNRBLEX when I resumed play in the morning. Pay attention, or you, too, shall be wormed.
Is a MUST-play at this price tag for P&C adventure lovers. Has some nice puzzles (one requires some math thinking but it was up my alley so no problem). A couple of "carry this from A to B" style objectives but not too much of a hassle. Could have used a "double-click to change scene" option. Your actions can have consequences including death so you should save accordingly. Felt about the right length for this kind of adventure, should take about 1.5-2 hours to get all achievements.
