About
What's that sound coming from the basement....?
is the new fever dream of a game by Sad Mask Party, the twisted brains behind Mango and The Lotus Holidays. It is a surreal, elusive, highly immersive and just slightly distorted tale of mystery, friendship, romance, solitude, trying and failing, overcoming obstacles, and all around, love.
It is presented as a first person adventure, featuring atmospheric exploration, puzzles, some fun action sequences and fights, interactive dialogue, deconstructed psychology, dreamy psychedelia, a big variety of off-beat characters, terminally weird vibes and an equal mixture of horror(ish) and humorous elements. The graphics are PS1-inspired, but with a healthy dose of surrealism and liminality.
The story starts through a dream where you meet Glitch Daddy, a strange creature informing you about the world's end coming really, really soon. You go on to wake up, and embark on a wild journey where the truth will be revealed, through a series of weird, unexpected twists and turns.
Drenched in a thick vibe of nostalgia, Glitch Daddy seamlessly jumps from the memories of an idealized childhood, to a complicated adulthood, and the cosmic, deconstructed dreamscapes of a timeless oblivion.
Also, you get to kill monsters and pet doggos. ;)

Having played similar games, I came to play this one with certain expectations... and they were certainly fulfilled . It's a game that took me back to basics, in a way of old school games with great fundamentals that satisfy the deep core of video games, which is having actual fun. I really loved the beautiful and great aesthetics, the intriguing soundtrack and the well-worked scenario. The puzzles keep the plot going greatly in a very well balanced way. The only problem is that for me, it could go further for more gameplay hours.
Ha ha funny game becomes serious about grief and drug addiction and makes you cry in a good way
I loved it, really trippy. It's good to see that games like this exist.
Playing "Glitch Daddy" feels like diving headfirst into a Lynchian fever dream and I mean that in the best possible way. From the moment the game begins, it wraps you in surrealistic imagery that feels equal parts haunting and mesmerizing. The gameplay is mostly linear, although some of the levels offer a chance for a little exploration and the puzzles are pretty intuitive. What surprised me the most though weren’t the visuals as I would imagine, which are trippy and unique but the atmospheric and amazing soundtrack which not only complemented but even elevated the experience. The dreamy narrative dances between absurdity and poignancy, exploring themes of forgiveness and guilt, fear of failure and the never-ending compulsion to correct our mistakes, leaving us- the player balancing on the edge of understanding, just as the characters within the game seem to be. It’s strange, unsettling, surprising funny, and, at times, deeply moving, a rare example of a game that trusts its audience to lean into the ambiguity and find meaning in the chaos. I can’t wait to see what this developer has in store next, because if "Glitch Daddy" is any indication, their imagination knows no bounds.
Greatest game ever made, I love this sm. So trippy and unique. The story is equally as hard to grasp but has roots in valuable places. Not to mention my love for the soundtrack. Sad Mask Party coming through with another banger!!!
games like this is why i bought my first gaming pc recently! i love these weirdcore titles and experiences, will be playing all this developers games, now playing MANGO as we speak

super glitchy and a very weird story, some jumpscares as well. All in all way better than i expected!
