positive charming surprise, when I had more fun than with some more expensive games certainly Short points: Pluses: + gore, decapitating heads - neck gushing blood, amputating limbs, splashing blood, deep cuts, visible internals + addictive fight, fast attacks, blocking, tomatoes, traps + many various weapons to choose up from after steps + enemies fight well, in more challenging waves, surviving days in colosseum , quite good physics, AI blocks, evades, rolls on other side often kills each other + enemies friendly fire own units, often stabbing dodge rolling to own units weapons might be seen as undesired and bit funny too, but you can use it a bit as a tactics getting enemies close together to hit each other + enemies can get killed merely by running at your sword, is entertaining might look a bit negative but its partially realistic + you seem to take some damage sometimes even when blocking to heavy attacks its also a bit - though + a few naked people in colosseum audience minuses: - not clear interactive actions (also interactive area detection) inside jail freeze progression or puzzle lock you out playing - clicking on bench to sleep to continue no hint, similarly choosing a weapon - not clever controls, hot swapping to B block, F key kick, G evade, instead of blocking , parrying eg with a right mouse click, not any tutorial regards fighting might mean a player leaves the game cause he didnt know how to fight - sometimes blocking with weapons seems to be temporal especially with sword, as opposed to shield might look like it not working - if you see blood you are not sure if you was hit or you hit the enemy - enemies accidentally hit and kill own unit too often - new waves do not always look harder and I dont know if there is end to them - the story seems to be infinite, perhaps also a bug with no enemy coming happened once - always rewarding with woman is bit repetitive and annoying, but you can go sleep prior her coming - you can exploit enemies just by running close to them to stab at your weapon - cutscenes not skippable though not long - dodging looks to be much less effective than just stepping running backwards - stamina not slowing your walking speed, not sound alert breathing, no ability to press hit key longer for a heavier attack - no rpg levelling up system Lenthier descriptions: Looks promising and few nice areas, but.. But cutscenes are not skippable, loading screens look sort of big lengthier also annoying, sometimes sort of freezes progression, since first when I won 1st fight, i was thrown to jail, interaction detection is poor, you can hardly take any weapon there was a key in jail on table I could not take , nobody came to let me out of prison. It continued after I exited and reloaded the game, it continued with a woman and area but it didn help when I lost area, if its some puzzle I could not get out of jail no keyboard keys helped - jail guy didnt return. It says in jail you have already equipped some weapon in jail, but you have no weapon equipped in hands, and still weapons available in jail while you are still locked and can not get out. So i am locked, frozen in progression. Ok I found one has to click on a bench to continue, If I did not I would give it a bad review. Sometimes even reading key bindings the game continues if you press the esc key. Collision detection is not best, often enemy does not seem to try attack when you block at all, if you kick your block is disabled, there is not even short tutorial regards fighting in the beginning. There is no health bar could be mistaken for stamina. Dodge is interesting but not intuitive like double tap, but you have to fast swap to letter G, maybe it works only with connection with side step arrow key asdf, the gore cut effect is very nice, nice traps, enemies mistakenly friendly fire kill own units, and tomatoes throwing. Otherwise enemies fight and evade nicely and fight is addicting. Not much hitting sound, when you see blood, you are not certain if you hit enemy or if he hit you, seems like you can be sometimes hurt even when blocking, or enemy moaning or hearing being hit aside of weapon slash which is present also when you miss. All in all nice game many people would not realize and overlook due to those issues. Guarding B is interesting, but maybe would be more with mouse right click and I am not sure if it works also with weapons as parry or only with a shield. You must hold key to keep crouching not press. if I did not give it more chances I felt like calling it one of the most unfinished pre-alpha ea games which is simply not true,

Pros - Really good concept. Cons - Pretty much everything else. So I'm a history nerd and an avid video gamer. I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of straight action games set in the ancient era of humanity. It's like game developers think that all people did during that time is wage war and farm. That's most of what they did but not all of it. Some times they wanted to be entertained. Anyway. I was thrilled when I found this game. I thought it was a good idea. It made sense to me. It's an out and out action game where you do one thing over and over. Kill people for amusement. There's countless strategy games and some adventure games set in this setting but there are very few straight out action games set in ancient times. It's even more difficult to find an action game in this setting which does not involve mythology and instead attempts to have some historical accuracy. I was sorely disappointed with this game at the 20 minute mark. There is a lack of historical accuracy and the game cannot follow though with even them most basic mechanic of the game which has the strongest appeal, the arena combat. This is a game that has potential. It's got a great concept behind the game but the execution beyond flawed. For starters, it's buggy. I'm not sure if it's because I'm playing it on a computer and not though VR goggles or what but the game has many issues. AI opponents will rush the spawn point, they'll hit you without swinging a weapon, traps in the arena don't seem to harm them. They dodge everything you throw at them. This is really the biggest flaw with the game because all of this effects the main portion of the game, the arena battles. As I've stated I'm a history nerd and this is the second issue I have with the game. The anachronistic weapons and the lack of a clear theme. The game offers you a war hammer as a weapon which is anachronistic.Historically war hammers have very limited use in combat and were mostly relegated to cavalry and heavy infantry in the late middle ages. Not the arenas of Rome. In fact there was decorum to the weapons loadouts in the Roman arena because each gladiator type was representative of an enemy Rome had defeated and conquered. The (I'm probably butchering this) Mirmirillio type gladiator his the most notorious type of gladiator and was armed specifically with a net and a trident and was meant to represent the rough seas and wilderness of the Mediterranean. This lack of accuracy also hinders the game because the subject matter could, if done properly add to the whole experience of the story which really relies on sex as the main motivator. The gladiator never leaves his cell. This is another mis-interpretation of the gladiators. Many of them started as slaves but ended up as celebrities but, in times of crisis they were also pressed into service in a "Cohors Tumultura" which was a makeshift militia. They would also train levied troops in the ways of combat. This could have easily been added to the story to flush out the action and provide a change of scenery from the arena. Also beyond the ability to have sex with a slave woman you don't really get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. It's like someone took the most simple aspects of the "Spartacus" TV show on dumbed them down even further for knuckle dragging idiots. There is also a lack of a multiplayer feature which I think would really up the replay value of the game. This game could have benefited immensely from would have been a multiplayer option. Nothing would be more entertaining than competing against your friends in arena blood sport and then joking and talking trash on each other for the next week. It would, in a sense, become the "Street Fighter of ancient era actions games" If they would have simply included a multiplayer option. Instead this purchase is a waste of money and, in it's current state, I cannot recommend it. My goal in writing this review is to appeal to the creators to look into these issues in particular and address them which I hope they do.

Genuinely the worst game I have ever played. Basic unity asset flip with some weird ass gooner parts. Gameplay is some of the most repetativeI have seen and buggy as hell. 100% it in 27 minutes. Even as a gift that I got for free, I will never get those 27 minutes back.
