Gibbon: Beyond the Trees

My best game experience since a while! A very Biocentric game, showing how the growing humanity is destroying the world biodiversity :/ The gameplay itself is very fun, using the principles of Flow, by making the player soaring in the canopy. The game is under evaluated, it should got more review and prices! That's definitely the more ecological game I have played! Thanks to the developers for this amazing emotional experience. I hope it will open some minds...

This game is so fun!! Yes its sad but my gosh like it's the most fun game I have ever played! I love Swinging games. The controls are so easy after the first chapter and each chapter isn't even 10 minutes long. It's quick but there are so many adventures! I haven't even finished the game! I can tell I'm not even close to being finished because I see some people have played 14 hours when I just played 1 hour lol. If I could pick 1 game to play for my whole life it would be this game! Please get the game, it is so worth it! You might not believe me but you wont regret it!

I LOVED this game! A game with a simple mechanic to play, but a great environmental message. Throw in nice scenery and sound effects, as well as achievements that you can get with time and practice (rather than luck or incredible skill), and you have a fun game that you won't tire of too quickly.

This game really takes you beyond the fun and smoothly-engineered activity of swinging in the trees. It is a visual art piece explaining the reality of what gibbons have been going through as deforestation and poaching spread throughout the world. The art is this game was fantastic, especially when paired with the music. There wasn't a single zoom-out scene I could go without taking a screenshot. The colors and the layering of the various objects really made for some great eye candy. The gameplay took a bit to get used to, even out of the tutorial, but it was well worth it for the story that followed. Most games try to make you feel something related to their fictional and fantastic worlds, but this game keeps you tied to the reality of our own world. There was one chapter where I caught myself thinking. "When is this going to end? Jumping on rooves is no fun." And I realized then that this was exactly what the developers wanted you to feel. You think gibbons have fun with their habitats taken away from them? Their children, their trees, their food? Absolutely not. This game reminds you of that through the gameplay, the art, the music, as well as through direct messages indicating how you can contribute to gibbon habitat conservation. I was also surprised at the end of the first adventure to learn that there is much more gameplay than the first gibbon you play as: Pink. I haven't yet gotten to it, and there may be even more messages that I haven't learned yet, but the first playthrough alone was enough to make me sympathize greatly with what humans are doing to these animals' habitats. I can also greatly appreciate that the developers worked with real conservationists to develop such an impactful experience :) Definitely recommend! Only took me an hour to get through the first adventure.

Came for the message, stayed for the fun. It's surprising how unknown this game is, it has beautiful artwork and sound design, and the mechanics are uniquely enjoyable. The gameplay initially consists of a short story mode about a Gibbon pair and their infant, followed by an endless "Liberation Mode" run where you rescue captured animals along the way as the said infant. The latter is where the meat of the game is I'd say In short, if you want a simple, semi-cozy platformer, it's more than perfect

——记录：2026/03/20入。 ——明明是呼吁保护野生动物、反对盗猎破坏栖息地的环保游戏，结果里面的长臂猿一只比一只五彩斑斓，红的蓝的紫的饱和度拉满，活脱脱花鸟市场里被商家用有毒颜料染出来的小鸡、小乌龟。 一边控诉人类破坏雨林、把动物当猎奇商品虐待，一边又把野生动物强行加入不自然朝鲜眼的人工色彩并做成可供解锁收集的彩色皮肤，嘴上说着保护，美术设计却完美复刻了现实里最残忍的那种 “人类审美改造动物”，割裂感简直离谱。 玩法手感还极其玄学，摆荡判定迷之严苛，玩着既不治愈也不流畅，只剩一身别扭。主题立意很好，但这份不自觉的讽刺，比游戏本身想表达的环保内核还要扎心。26/04/17

One of the prettiest games I've ever played! The art style is so eye catching and how the colors relate to each chapter is so cinematic. A lovely sweet story and showing the devastation of the forest through mechanics and the loss of platforms to swing on is so sad and effective. I recommend anyone with an hour or two to spare to play this game and try the platforming that feels like im playing a spiderman game. Save the gibbons!! Stop deforestation!!
