About
"Genesis of a Small God is a god simulation !
Feel the power of being an all mighty god. Play on a generated island where you can do whatever you want. Learn how to be a god. Unlock mighty miracles and care for your faithfuls.
You are free to proceed however you want.
Will you grow food to feed them ?
Will you help them gather resources and build their village ?
Will you protect them from dangers ?
Will you use their remains to feed the remaining villagers ?
Discover a wide variety of miracles. From the fireball that can burn an entire forest to summoning the rain that will grow the flora around, this game offers many different miracles. As you keep playing, you can unlock even more impressive miracles like throwing meteors or resurrecting the dead. You can even share them by ordaining priests.
You play on a procedurally generated voxel island you can modify it to your liking. The island is composed of a wide flora and fauna. The game offers simulated seasons where the plants bloom appropriately. Everything on the island is trying to survive and will react to your actions. Using the physics engine you can throw anything around. You can help, hinder or simply watch the creatures on the island.
Your power comes from the faith of your people. Their belief will vary based on their living conditions. Are they fed ? Do they have shelter ? Are they being mangled by a hungry wolf ? The happier they are the more they will believe in you. Take care of them even when they die, you must reap their soul to prevent them from becoming angry ghosts.
Meanwhile the villagers will try to build and improve their village. You can influence their actions by terraforming the ground. And help them gather the necessary resources and even help them build their little economy. You can’t directly choose the building. But you can destroy any building you don’t agree with.
Protect your people from many dangers, from the horde of undead to abductions by an alien spaceship. There is never a dull moment. The game regularly triggers random events. You must react to those events or suffer the consequences. From invasive plants to strange astrological occurrences, you never know what’s going to happen.
The game is meant as a relaxing experience. You can always restart on a new island. You keep every unlocked power. You control the difficulty of the game to fit your play style. You can choose to play a stress free experience without any random event. Or you can choose a nightmarish experience where you are expected to solve multiple problems happening at once.
Whether you prefer Discord or Steam forum, don’t hesitate to leave me a message. I am always on the lookout for feedback or cool new ideas to implement."

I wish the dev would realize what kind of treasure trove is being sat on here. The market for god games is stale and would honestly be an easy market to corner. This game is on the right track, needs a few more things and a little more love to be that top notch quality. Could easily surpass its predecessors if it did a few key things. Right now your competition is Masters of Albion, a fresh game involving the man from the OG's, Mr. Peter. It is not going well at all. Then you have Fata Deum, which could be good but its missing the few key things too. You are so close here! Make it a DLC thing or hell sell it as remastered, people would buy it.
Don’t buy this game if not on sale. That being said! Still a great game if you can get it for under $20… even buying full price, especially with a VR headset (I don’t have) worth it. Not much content but it’s random and varied enough that you will be entertained. The random events are varied and many and because of the sculpting (island customization) and random seed generator it stays enjoyable. The one thing that I find very annoying in this game is that the villagers don’t automatically upgrade to better houses when they advance. You have to manually destroy them using objects or meteor strike/fireball. The later is very high risk for just destroying your whole town. As well even with the 50% speed upgrade for your villagers you have to hand hold them a lot. Avatar even fully upgraded is pretty weak and some of his abilities don’t seem to work. (Reincarnation never seems to activate) The fire wizard honestly seems the best defence once you get him.
Other than the small amounts of visual lag here and there the game runs smoothly. It reminds me of another game from my past that I enjoyed, though there was a lot more freedom of buildings in that one. Not having the ability to place more structures to construct is a little disappointing but, certainly doesn't diminish from the fun. I was concerned I'd need VR to play this game but was happy to find I don't. Definitely a great game to chill with.
One of the times I wished for a neutral review. I don't think this game was bad per say just... lacking? I get indie devs are on budgets but it uses mostly premade assets which I think hurts the game feeling unique, especially because it just.. lacks content? there was a semi basic tutorial and then you're kinda allowed to go nuts, but nothing has enough feed back or control (maybe because I was in VR? But its an advertised feature). I very rarely understand what the orbs I grab do outside of "bad thing" or "good thing" or how those interact with the world. They physics system is also clunky and does not feel pleasing to use, I got a pirate raid where a pirate ship kept circling my island and I had to crush it, but I couldn't aim any spells or props at it due to the engine and couldn't leave the island to just smash it, meaning it it became a permanent threat. Similar things happened with other random things that popped up like several locust swarms that destroyed everything, and some random vines that just infected the island. I never got to experience the god aspect because I was being overwhelmed by things that had little to no feedback and just kept slowly picking off villagers. Speaking of they also feel awkward. They'll make requests of you but also give no feedback on how to achieve them, and any time you try to expand if you want it to look nice you have to expend a ton of energy and will 9/10 smash a villager's house and piss them off. The whole thing feels like there's a lot to explore but, despite supposedly being a god, I have so little info. No compendium or even menu I can scroll for encountered spells or phenomena and the menu is clunky in VR as is. While I might seem critical overall I think the game is just... okay. Pick it up if its on sale or something and goof around but don't expect anything super revolutionary.
So this is a really fun game that's got the potential to be truly great with a few more updates. there's a lot of cool and fun stuff in there. There's some working things out. Top tip from my side just keep holding that mouse button down when using the flatten ground. Your godly hand just keeps spanking it flatter in a bigger and bigger circle. Took me a little while to figure that out. It annoys me a little that my tool makers seem to not work occasionally. That's a bug - I think. I might be missing something. I like how much there is to learn and find out. It's a great god game that just needs a little more polishing to really shine to a mass audience. I would still strongly recommend it even in current state.
~ this "game" is quite the steaming pile. Very poorly done -interactions are trash.
I literally could not get through the tutorial, as the controls repeatedly bugged out/would not display the required actions.
