I got this on sale and I ignored the negative reviews because I love these types of games. The rubbish ones usualy have redeeming features for genre fans like me. Not this one. This may have been fun in the early 90s but not now. This is soooo basic and not in the awesome sense like the classic Stars! it is basic in that it feels incomplete and or was not thought through. The sound is basic. The mechanics are basic. It is not compelling at all. I left a postive review for Lords of the Black Sun and I even found some joy in Apollo 4x. That should tell you something about how low my standards are. I can't say anything good about the game apart from that it works. I'm sorry Crispon Games, please do better next time.

Your typical 4X space empire building game, but lacking polish or finesse. I have always been drawn to this genre, however have had a hard time finding good ones. This didn't hit the mark for me. Turns take longer since the every ship move is shown, including the computers. The whole map is shown so you already know where everybody and everything is. The one interesting feature I found is the military ship building. You order them via 3 companies. As the companies build your ships they gain experience you can then invest in 3 different tech trees, so their future ships are enhanced. Sound: Lackluster. Graphics: Simple. Gameplay: Exactly what you would expect. Select research, build ships, build facilities on plantes, give orders to fleet, engage in diplomacy, end turn and repeat. Replay Value: I suppose you could replay it. I didn't bothe rfinishing my first play through though. Story: Kill everyone. Its not a bad game, and you get exactly what you would expect out of it. I would however have a problem buying it at its current price of $21.99CAD. Only get on sale.
Started off well and then....fell flat on its face because it was ABANDONED!!!!!
There are so many things I like about Galactic Inheritors. New/revived ideas differentiate this game from the hoardes of other space 4X wannabes. I think the two aspects that stood out the most were the forced used of propaganda to persuade the public before being able to declare war, and outsourcing of warships. The latter needs some work, but the game had enough positives for me to spend almost 18 hours on it. Unfortunately, the devs lazied out on controls, and that's what killed the game for me. 470 turns of left clicking to select, command, confirm, move map, queue, cancel, attack, colonize.... it's totally insane. Did you understand that last sentence? Left click is ALL you have. No right click, no enter, no escape, no shift key to queue duplicates. Well, you can use the mouse wheel to zoom. And that's it. The rest of the game is ALL left click. Halfway through the game, I realized I did't need to put my left hand on my keyboard, because left clicking was ALL I was doing. I'm really not one to complain about controls.. Really, I'm pretty tolerant about a lot of things if the core game is good. But this.... this is too much. It's utterly stupid and outright unforgiveable. I don't know if the devs were planning to make a touchscreen port for phones, but that is no excuse. 10,000 left clicks to beat the map once is not something you force on your player. It's just not fun any more. So yeah, one 470-turn game is more than enough. I'll be deleting this game in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
This is possibly the worst 4x I've ever played. And I've played a LOT of them. Very first game I was beaten back to my home system before realizing that debt only hurt research and had no limit, so proceed to run nine shipyards at full capacity for the remainder of the game and conquer the galaxy. Finished with so much debt the game had trouble displaying my money properly. There are no 'subgames' to keep you occupied outside of the primary loop so there is nothing else to it that might distract you. I would not recommend this to anybody, ever.
The low production values, and simplified play makes this a rather charming game for me. It's too bad it has such negative views, but it makes sense that it would in the end. I don't fully know what it is, but the game managed to captivate me for an entire play through. I only wonder if it can do it again. I shall find out soon enough when I tackle hard mode. I'm curious to know what the penalties are that the game places on the player for that difficulty setting.
Not Recommended. The game is very shallow, and what is available is bugged, As a vivid 4X player I struggled to win at leats one session. I tried for total domination, and was close to wun despite such facts that in half cases the fleet just decided not to fire or not to shoot. However, because of the bug in media mechanism (which is the only remotely innovative feature) I was not allowed to declare war on one of the races, Then I hed for technical victory. This requires to build 4 buildin. One of the planets which built it got destroyed, and the building was never to be offered again to build. Broken, unplayable game with nothing interesting or innovative. Avoid.
https://youtu.be/nikAn0ERfJ0 The lack of animations, full sound, and limited options in most areas leave this feeling like a shell of the 4X foundations the game is drawing inspiration from.
This game is very stable and easy to learn and play. Unfortunately it's also very simple. There just isn't much to do in the game. After nearly 2 hours of playing I think I've seen everything the game has to offer. Turn 54 looks just like turn 5. It's just boring. BUT if you are looking for a very casual board game and it's on sale for 80% off it might be worth giving it a try.
