Nice idea game, but implementation a bit rough. maybe make characters ability to slow time or make jump drop down a bit slower could make better experience. also touching spike resets everything it just annoys player. just remove from number u have multiple option to do map (hard way or sneaky way mostly). music is repetitive. I love character design and small animation on jump. if you change platform colors or background could be great. My eyes could differentiate most times.
Gelu is a simple puzzle platformer. It resembles a game where you have to die to make the level possible. However, this time, instead of that, pressing space will spawn a static clone which you can use as a platform to help you reach certain areas. The game is really simple though, it could use maybe a few tweaks for better performance but other than that, give it a go, grab that crowbar and escape!

Gelu, developed and published by NedoStudio, is a compact yet cleverly designed 2D puzzle-platformer that builds its identity around a single, elegant mechanic. At first glance, it presents itself as a retro-inspired pixel art platformer with simple controls and charming visuals. However, beneath its modest presentation lies a surprisingly thoughtful puzzle structure that steadily challenges spatial awareness, planning, and timing. Rather than relying on narrative depth or sprawling worlds, Gelu focuses on mechanical precision and puzzle ingenuity. Players control a small, endearing protagonist whose defining ability is the power to create and destroy ice clones of himself. This mechanic transforms standard platforming into a layered puzzle experience. Each level limits the number of ice copies available, forcing players to think carefully about placement and timing. These clones function as temporary platforms, ladders, or stepping stones, enabling Gelu to scale vertical spaces, cross dangerous gaps, or trigger pressure switches. The act of creating and removing clones becomes an ongoing exercise in spatial reasoning, as players must visualize how each placement affects the overall layout of the stage. The level design gradually introduces complexity. Early stages serve as tutorials, allowing players to experiment with clone placement in relatively forgiving environments. As progression continues, puzzles demand more intricate solutions. Some levels require stacking clones precisely to reach high ledges, while others introduce hazards that limit safe positioning. The balance between reflex-based platforming and deliberate planning becomes increasingly refined, ensuring that success feels earned rather than accidental. The simplicity of the control scheme—movement, jumping, clone creation, and clone removal—contrasts with the mental effort required to solve later puzzles. Visually, Gelu embraces a minimalist pixel art style that reinforces its retro inspiration. Character sprites are small but expressive, and environments are colorful without overwhelming the screen. Backgrounds remain unobtrusive, keeping the focus on puzzle readability. The clarity of the art design ensures that players can easily distinguish platforms, hazards, and clone placements, which is crucial in a game that hinges on precision. While it does not aim for high-fidelity graphics, its visual consistency supports the gameplay effectively. Sound design complements the experience with light, unobtrusive background music and simple sound effects that signal actions and hazards. The audio presentation is understated, avoiding distraction while reinforcing the playful tone. The absence of heavy narrative elements keeps the experience streamlined; there are no elaborate story sequences or dialogue interruptions, allowing players to concentrate fully on puzzle-solving. Difficulty progression is measured but noticeable. Later levels introduce tighter margins for error and more complex spatial arrangements, which can result in occasional frustration. However, the game provides quick restarts, minimizing downtime after failure. This design choice encourages experimentation and iterative learning. Each failed attempt becomes part of the puzzle-solving process, prompting players to reconsider clone placement or movement timing. Although the overall playtime is relatively short compared to expansive platformers, Gelu maximizes its duration by maintaining focused level design. Its compact scope ensures that puzzles remain fresh without overstaying their welcome. Replay value comes from refining solutions and pursuing achievements rather than exploring branching narratives. Ultimately, Gelu stands as a testament to how a single well-executed mechanic can define an entire experience. By building progressively challenging puzzles around the ice clone system, it elevates a familiar platforming framework into something distinct and intellectually engaging. For players who appreciate tight, thoughtful puzzle-platformers with retro aesthetics and mechanical clarity, Gelu offers a concise yet satisfying journey that rewards patience, planning, and creative problem-solving.
