fun game but achievements don't work for me
Threw in the towel at level 9-C. The game introduces a pogo stick as a completely new mechanic at this point. But the game also expects you to master a series of difficult jumps on moving platforms + swinging pendulums over a pit of lava while on the pogo stick. Yeah, nah. F that.
A challenging platformer that's a little weird, but I like the humor and the soundtrack's pretty decent. I wasn't a fan of the level design though, and the zones felt a bit drawn out. Thankfully, even with the crazy amount of deaths I had, there were a good amount of checkpoints so it wasn't too frustrating. I also really enjoyed the arcade mini games and thought they were fun. I mean being able to play a version of the Battletoads hover bike level was pretty cool. 😁 A small thing to note is that achievements don't seem to work in the default version of the game, you need to use the beta branch. Amazing platformer, 10/10, great movement, fantastic music, cool artstyle. Saw someone comparing this to Celeste C-side difficulty, I strongly disagree with that this game is significantly easier and much less punishing, it's still challenging just not nearly on that level.
Every time you launch this game you're hit with a tutorial that shows you some enhanced dash state you get after you dash into a wall, floor, or ceiling and you can chain that to bound from surface to surface. It's a cool movement option in spaces where it won't just get you killed... I don't recall any section ever requiring it, though. And when I thought about why that is, I started seeing that the majority of levels in this game don't really ask you to use your movement in precise ways. It just kinda throws obstacles at you at increasing intensity with no real rhyme or reason, leading to stretches of the game just blurring together until you hit one of the mini-games that break up the usual platforming. It's cool, feels good to control, kinda funny, but if you asked me what my favorite world was... uhh I dunno I kinda just held forward while dashing up-forward a lot and when a boss came up they also folded to that without too much of a fuss. It's a'ight.
Super underrated, must play if you love challenging platformers
Pretty fun and straightforward tribute to good old platformers. I was in need of a rather short platformer challenge and this game accomplished this role. Be careful though: You may be frustrated by some issues of the gameplay (especially in the very end of the game), such as the fact you cannot always jump from descending platforms (because the character "falls behind it"). Also, Steam successes do not work. Still recommend if you want to try hard on something.
incredibly addictive frustration/precision platformer. You will see a lot of people mentioned that the achievements are bugged but this has since been resolved via playing a Beta branch. The meme focused humor and movement were all really great for me personally. I can highly recommend it!
