Reviews
I was hesitant to buy this upon its release because of the mixed reviews, but I am glad I eventually did. Many of the things that made GalCiv 3 tedious have been streamlined. The mechanics are not well explained in a lot of cases, but overall it is an improvement and has kept me entertained for hours.
Overall it's an awesome game! Beautiful graphics (seriously, zoom in on a space battle), fantastic races and organizations, multiple ways to progress depending on your gameplay style & decisions. Love it. My big problem is that multiplayer is totally busted 😭 I play multiplayer & team games almost exclusively, so that's a huge problem for me. You can set it up as a multiplayer/team game but if it crashes or you save & come back, teams is turned off and you can't regroup. That alone kills the game for me- if they fix that feature I'll play this game a LOT more!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Excellent game. I've been playing Civilization 4 for 20+ years and now maybe Galactic Civilization 4 will take its place :)
While you could see some fun and enjoyment here, this product itself is shoddily stitched together on every corner. Its own pre-predecessor from 2006 is genuinely better. Supporting a game which has the foundational basis to fulfill its potential several years down the line, is the most risky gamble, when GalCiv III already had a rough reputation.
I like this one better than the previous one. They have improved most everything. I could not finish the game because the victory acheivement never completed. There are other games like this where clearly I won but the game for some reason does not recognize that fact. So, I can continue or I can stop and start a new game. I'll still give it a 75/100.
Very meh overall game experience. The building on planets is neat and all, but everything else is not very nice. It feels like a random assembly of not really well connected mechanics, very poorly balanced. The utter lack of QOL features is inexcusable and makes this game an exhausting experience to say the least. There is next to no automatization at all while requiring more and more micro management with every new station or planet. The map overview is bland, confusing and misleading. You couldn't find enemy fleets on it if they occupied its entirety. This game cannot hold a candle to titles such as Endless Space or Stellaris. Whatever gripes you have with annoying popups or bad automatization in THOSE games, THIS game is SO much worse.
I like the little movies and the leaders and the remastered soundtrack. Other than that GC2 is better as far as the core gameplay loop. GC4 adds a bunch of little math puzzles like moving leaders around so you get the best numbers in various positions for small percentage boosts here and there. Buildings on planets have adjacency bonuses. It adds complexity, but is it fun? Did we need that? My answer is no.
