Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 8 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I like the consistency, the art, and the fact that is is turn-based. I am an old man (51), been playing mostly RTS games for most of my life. I am not big on fast-paced FPS stuff because I can never manage the controls (neither keyboard NOR controllers), most games do NOT have auto-targeting so I get frustrated and give up after 10 minutes tops. So, a game like Gal Civ (and others like Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander) work for me because I can take my time, make decisions, and let the units do their thing... either in real time or turn-based. Also, in Galactic Civilizations, I can save the game whenever I want (in fact, it autosaves), go away, come back, and continue the muscle-memory, click-click, end turn, analyze, click-click, end turn... basically a zen-like meditation session with minimal worries about speed, aim, and the trajectory of my pointless life. I can be "in the moment", immerse myself in the gameplay, and avoid episodes of depression for HOURS at a time 😅👍🏾 People game for various reasons. This game hits the spot for me.

Unfortunately due to a shocking and very disappointing interaction with Stardock and their team of moderators I now boycott all Stardock products! Stardock you need to do better for your customers who have supported your products for years. The game is ruined by over zealous content creators who are now appointed as moderators and abuse their power to gate-keep content. Our YT channel now boycotts all Stardock products! The fact I think I've never given a negative review on steam before demonstrates just how bad I felt I was treated by this company. I own many of their games including Gal Civ III and have supported them since I was a child. What an absolute stunning display of how not to treat your player base and content creators who support you. All Stardock needed to do was address my concerns in a sensible manner. I was really open to a resolution that they unfortunately never offered. Censoring me from their forum and blocking me on social media. A massive cultural change is required, you cannot in this day and age treat gamers in this manner.
I have tried playing this absolutely worthless game over and over again. The game has a lot of potential, but there is an issue that after combat the destroyed ships are restored to full health and the fleets becomes unusable with a idle fleet message and all fleet actions grayed out. As the game is now, it is unplayable!
Been a long time MOO2 fan girl. I like the very close game play mechanics to MOO2, and the remake. I like the variety and the beauty of the procedural generated galaxy when you begin a new game. Truly an experience that you never seem to have duplicated which is very cool. The diversity of Races both Major and Minor are incredible. If you're a Civ 5 and up fan, then this science fiction option surely will take your empire managing fix to a new exciting level. I began the GAL CIV journey when the second instalment of this franchise was the newest. I appreciated the beauty and wonder and the unexpected outcomes throughout the course of the game. Has many of the Civilization tropes that many fans would enjoy. I find this series has genuinely improved as it progresses not compared to other games that seem to go backwards or let go of features that many fans hope to see carry over to the next game. I am glad I own all of GALACTIC CIV 3. I am excited for 4 and this instalment is no slouch. Definitely fun to play with friends. It's hard to convince players to try a game of such strategy, as it is indeed in depth. A true evolution to RISK on a galactic scale and with much more intricate detail and wonder. I would love to see tournament game play of this series as I find it is a very enjoyable journey as you play. Events also come out of nowhere both good and bad. Keeps things interesting and non-predictable. Research trees are extensive and very interesting. The detail and effort the dev team has offered in GAL CIV 3 is quite an offering, and definitely a nice addition to your 4x library if you're fond of these types of games. I hope you find my review helpful. I plan to play a lot more when life isn't so hectic. Enjoy leading your Galactic Civilization to one of several possible victory conditions. :)
The game really doesn't do anything to explain how anything works. I should need to look up guides to master a game not just to learn the basics.
Oh my gosh! I LOVE this game! Now, I've always been a BIG fan of 4X games; games like this, Civ 1-6, Stellaris, there's so many, but Galactic Civ has been a favorite... right up there with Civ 1-6. There's SO many aspects of this game that are super awesome. Let me see if I can highlight a few. Mods. I'm a BIG believer that games that allow mods are 1000x better. I love mods. I have a ridiculous amount of games that allow mods. Lol. Mods allow you to customize the game in a lot of different ways and this game is no different. Gal Civ 3 mods basically cover custom civs and custom ships/ship styles. There's a boat load of each. You can literally have the Galactic Empire as a custom civ... or the Federation, along with a full load of custom ships that someone uploaded. The choices are virtually endless. A+. Civilization Creator. Gal Civ 3 allows you to create your own custom civ even if you don't have any mods. Every last detail is up to you. Do you want to be an evil civilization? Do you want to modify an existing civ or just start from scratch? You can also mix n match civs if you want. You can have the main profile of civ A, but have the ship style of civ B. They leave EVERYTHING up to you. It's a great feature. Another A+. Ship Creator. In every game, whether you use a pre-built civ or one of your own, you'll get the use of a Ship Creator. This tool lets you either modify an existing model of ship or come up with a whole new design of your own and use it immediately. I don't often use this tool because I'm usually pretty happy with the ships/ship style I'm using for that game, but some people go crazy and design all kinds of unique and wacky ships, then upload them to the workshop for others to enjoy. The Ship Creator allows you the freedom to customize any ship and any ship design. A+. 4X The Galaxy. For those of you that have had fun with traditional 4X games, Gal Civ 3 actually lets you eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate the galaxy. How amazing is that?! Take a fleet of warships, a troop ship, and go out and conquer the galaxy! Be the first one to eliminate a competing civ. Or if you want to be the friendly, peace-loving sort, then go out and make friends with everyone so that they vote for galactic peace. Personally, I like to trade with the neighbors, then when they're no longer useful, slaughter the infidels. Lol. You can conquer or rule the galaxy however you see fit. Lots of fun and another A+. Those are just some of the aspects of the game I love. I can't think of a negative thing to say about this game. It's one of my all-time favorite forever!
My favorite sifi 4x game by leaps and bounds! How you people could prefer stallaris over Galciv 3 is mind boggling to me. Can't stand that game and been trying to play it for 5 years.
PROS: Galactic Civilizations III is one of my favorite games. As a creative person, I enjoy the random map/player generators and exploring each unique galaxy. Creating unique ships from scratch and improving them through research is another feature I love. The game's detailed backgrounds and units is also pleasing. The availability of MODS is a positive because it adds to the variability of each game with new aliens and events. I love the open play format with no linear story line. CONS: I wish there was more. I have only finished the game once, because I get bored after the galaxy is explored and all races found. The game gets mundane and needs expansion. Maybe more diplomacy options. Still one of my favorites!
Stardock added a launcher and they are pretending that they are getting rave reviews for adding a launcher. The launcher doesn't work, and now I can't play. ♥♥♥♥ you, Stardock; ♥♥♥♥, you.
To be honest i still prefer the GalCiv II. It clearly has the better UI. And despite GalCiv III has added gameplay elements,it doesnt amount to a deeper gameplay.
