Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 8 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The game is pretty, and that's about the only God's damn praise I can give it. There's some things to enjoy but man does it feel like the devs just wants to shiv you repeatedly until you are bloody ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pulp. I don't know what I did to make them hate me this much but this game honestly makes me never want to play another GalCiv game ever if all they are going to do is make me pay to have them take a massive ♥♥♥♥ on my head.
Simply one of the best 4x games out there. Great depth and a lot of variety especially if you get the game with all its dlcs. The only drawback is the battles. If only the game had turn base battles in the style of master of orion 2 it would be perfect, but I guess one cannot have everything.

This game has possibly the most warmongering AI I've ever seen in grand strategy. It will focus super hard on military, and as soon as they are SLIGHTLY stronger than anyone else, they get a massive relations penalty with them, which will inevitably lead to war. Oh and about 1/3 of the way through the game, most civilizations get a moderate relations penalty with everyone else explained simply with "We want to conquer the galaxy." So that's fun. In my average games, I am number one in everything except military and some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ declares war on me. I manage to just barely hold them off, and just as I prepare to launch an offensive, another completely unrelated civ declares war on me as well and I ragequit. I guarantee that both of those will have been at war with like 3 other civs at the same time.
The game never really reached its potential. The game is currently near the end of its update life as of 4.2.1 - I suspect only a couple of minor patches will be added in at this point. Currently the game is very micro-intensive later in the game. There were some features implemented to try to resolve it (an example being the Commonwealth system), but they were not well implemented and could have used a lot more work. There are quite a few drawbacks to splitting off your Commonwealth and they were never truly addressed by the developers. Combat as a whole needs a lot of work - there are a lot of features that could have been added. - Weapons sizes - Custom fighters for carriers - More graunlar targetting options (instead of the role system) The developer team has been less open to feedback than I had believed and I do feel disappointed by the way some of the issues have been handled and with the overall outcome. There also seem to be those in the community who feel the devs can do no wrong, which adds to the problems. I think that with a few more expansions, and some things streamlined, implementation improved, I would be willing to recommend, but given that this game will not be getting those much needed features, I can't in good faith recommend this game. Another matter is that you will need a fairly powerful computer with a lot of RAM - this game needs a lot of hardware resources, especially for larger maps. Again, maybe with a few more patches, the performance could have improved, but at time of this review writing (which is likely as noted earlier to reflect the final state of the game), it is a very hardware intensive game. Unlike many other hardware intensive games, the graphics are quite dated, as this game was released in 2015. I don't regret my time playing this game, but I do feel very disappointed by how the game turned out in the end, now that we are nearing Gal Civ 4 on Steam. Overall, between this, and the fact that the Gal Civ 4 appears to be an Epic store only for at least the first year makes me wonder if Gal Civ 4 will be worth buying when it comes onto Steam, especially as I remember back in 2015, GC3 was not in a good shape when it first launched and needed a lot of patches to get into a somewhat ok state. There was one review on YouTube with a person I feel is trustworthy that makes me question if GC4 will be worth it, at least early on. I don't think making the game an Epic store exclusive was a good move and that has weighed in my decision not to recommend this game. Apparently that Youtuber indicated that one reason why GC4 is on Epic only is because the game is "released" but really still in an incomplete state and needs a lot more development time (this would mean risking negative reviews on Steam if that a dual release were to occur). My advice would be to wait on GC4 when it comes on Steam until at least a few reviews come out to see if it is ready. I will say this, when this game (Gal Civ 3) launched, it was not in a good state and not all the problems even today were fixed. As far as would I recommend that someone buys GC3 right now? I would recommend you buy if you like 4X games when this game is on sale. It's one of those games where you will have to try it to see if you like it, but the price is very high with the DLC right now and I don't think given the limitations that it justifies the price. This is one of those games that requires you have at least the base game and a few key DLC (such as the Precursor worlds). I don't mind recommending a product when it is exceptional if the price is high, but there are too many flaws in this game for me to say "Buy this now" - instead "Buy when heavily discounted on Steam" if you are into 4X games is probably the best advice I can give.
I bought the game on sales with all DLC and was disappionted by the gameplay. It is not necessarily a bad game. Actually, I like to play older games and the grafics looked good to me. Also all aspects of a a 4X-Game, I usually enjoy to play, are in place. I actually was looking forward to play it. However, I didn't had any fun playing it. My main issue with the game is, that information on how things work are vague and burry. Usually, I love to dig into strategy games but I was disappionted how sparse and vague the tooltips are. On top, the tutorial felt like wasted time. Usually I don't need any tutorials but I play them anyway to get a better idea on what the developers considered to be important and hook me up to play the game. On this part, the tutorial failed spectaculary. It is just "do this" and "do that" or "abort the tutorial" within a limited sandbox environment. There was little to no information on why I want to do this or that. On top, the tutorial tried to deliver a story, I couldn't care less about. I like good stories but this story felt like told a hundert times before and being totally replacable. To be fair, many games have an issue with their story, but I didn't bought a strategy game for the story but for doing strategy decisions to create my own story. But here the game failed, at least for me, to deliver too. TL;DR: This game wasn't my cup of tea. If you are like me, loving to play strategy games by learning on available options, making meaningful decisions and dealing with the consequences, you maybe will be disappionted like me. If you don't care much on how the game provide information and want just play in sci-fi / MO2-like setting, you maybe want to give it a try.
I sadly can't recommend this installment. I was a huge fan of the second game and have several thousand hours in it across more than 1 platform. But this 3rd installment never got all the features as the second. If i was looking at it alone, it would be good. But it isn't the best part of its own franchise and is also overshadowed by games like Stellaris. You should only get this if you really enjoy the world of GalCiv and want to play the campaigns.
A mix of Master Of Orion and Space Empires. Presentation (UI, etc) is pretty basic, but gameplay is good. However, another 4x space game that does not have any meaningful combat. It's just rock paper scissors with beams, missiles and kinetics. Not much to it. Personally, I think it would have been one of the best 4x space games if the combat aspect would have been more fleshed out. That's the only thing missing from the gameplay feature side. Everything else is there.
It's the Civilization franchise in space. I would recommend this game if you love Civilization and want to play a space version without having to bother with a tutorial or any form of learning curve. Edit: There is a small learning curve on improvement placement; You may want to lookup a quick Youtube video on that, or just figure it out as you go like I did. :)
`The game keeps crashing and hard locking my Steam Deck, so if you're wanting to play on that. despite what appears to be a perfectly playable experience upon loading, it is not "playable" (despite what the badge may claim). YMMV on another platform.
