Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 8 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I sadly can't recommend this installment. I was a huge fan of the second game and have several thousand hours in it across more than 1 platform. But this 3rd installment never got all the features as the second. If i was looking at it alone, it would be good. But it isn't the best part of its own franchise and is also overshadowed by games like Stellaris. You should only get this if you really enjoy the world of GalCiv and want to play the campaigns.
A mix of Master Of Orion and Space Empires. Presentation (UI, etc) is pretty basic, but gameplay is good. However, another 4x space game that does not have any meaningful combat. It's just rock paper scissors with beams, missiles and kinetics. Not much to it. Personally, I think it would have been one of the best 4x space games if the combat aspect would have been more fleshed out. That's the only thing missing from the gameplay feature side. Everything else is there.

Bad AI and several bad design choices, stick with Galatic Civilizations 2
not as good as stellais but not bad
If anyone ever asks for a game as an example for a bad ai that has to cheat to get even a sliver of challenge without cheating, go somewhere else. this game has pissed away every bit of goodwill that ever existed. perfect example of a "dont buy"
Game is good: Real review? STEAM. Steam sucks. Completely tries to control and manipulate the buyers or games and reviews given. I suggest we all start doing this, since STEAM needs to be exposed for the shilling $#%%s they are.
I bought the game on sales with all DLC and was disappionted by the gameplay. It is not necessarily a bad game. Actually, I like to play older games and the grafics looked good to me. Also all aspects of a a 4X-Game, I usually enjoy to play, are in place. I actually was looking forward to play it. However, I didn't had any fun playing it. My main issue with the game is, that information on how things work are vague and burry. Usually, I love to dig into strategy games but I was disappionted how sparse and vague the tooltips are. On top, the tutorial felt like wasted time. Usually I don't need any tutorials but I play them anyway to get a better idea on what the developers considered to be important and hook me up to play the game. On this part, the tutorial failed spectaculary. It is just "do this" and "do that" or "abort the tutorial" within a limited sandbox environment. There was little to no information on why I want to do this or that. On top, the tutorial tried to deliver a story, I couldn't care less about. I like good stories but this story felt like told a hundert times before and being totally replacable. To be fair, many games have an issue with their story, but I didn't bought a strategy game for the story but for doing strategy decisions to create my own story. But here the game failed, at least for me, to deliver too. TL;DR: This game wasn't my cup of tea. If you are like me, loving to play strategy games by learning on available options, making meaningful decisions and dealing with the consequences, you maybe will be disappionted like me. If you don't care much on how the game provide information and want just play in sci-fi / MO2-like setting, you maybe want to give it a try.
It's the Civilization franchise in space. I would recommend this game if you love Civilization and want to play a space version without having to bother with a tutorial or any form of learning curve. Edit: There is a small learning curve on improvement placement; You may want to lookup a quick Youtube video on that, or just figure it out as you go like I did. :)
I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.
