About
Prepare to throw down the Double Dragon way in this fresh addition to the iconic beat ‘em up franchise. It’s the year 199X, and nuclear war has devastated New York City leaving its citizens to fight for survival as riots and crime engulf the streets. The city has been overtaken by criminal gangs who terrorize its ruins as they fight for total dominance. Unwilling to endure these conditions any longer, young Billy and Jimmy Lee take it upon themselves to drive the gangs out of their city.
Explore the early beginnings of the young Double Dragon brothers as they take on both new and familiar enemies in this alternate story. In this fresh roguelite take, every playthrough is a brand new chance at new action. Featuring a unique and dynamic level structure, the difficulty of the missions you take on will change depending on the order you have selected them.
Tag in and out as the classic duo Billy and Jimmy, switch it up with Marian and Uncle Matin, or experiment with 20 additional unlockable characters, each with their own special moves and unique playstyles. With 2-player online and local co-op, the action quadruples as you and a friend clean up the mean streets.

A love letter to Double Dragon. The amount of characters to unlock that span practically every classic double dragon game is impressive. Every character feels unique to play with very distinct mechanics as well and are all satisfying to play as. My only negative is that it could use a few more levels. It does have a rogue-like mechanic where depending on what order you play each of the four levels the levels become progressively longer and change up a bit, along with the boss of the level changing up a bit and being a bit harder, but that only goes so far. You've seen all the 4 levels and bosses have to offer within a few hours. That said, I've got over 12hrs logged in here because it's fun as heck to replay as you unlock the something like 20+ characters (maybe more or less, can't remember) and master them as you go. Plenty of deep-cut characters if you've been playing since the NES days too, which as a long time fan I really appreciate. So if they do another updated like they did back in Feb' of this year (2026) but added some new levels and maybe another final level/boss option it would go a long way. As Double Dragon games go, this is one of the greats. Worth the money, and when it's on sale it's a no-brainer instant purchase imho.
I think this would be a completely fantastic game and totally worth it -- if it worked. Co-op mode is completely riddled with errors. Just in the 2 hour span we had - incorrect characters that we selected upon entering a stage, a end-game freeze that made us restart the run, my co-op partner was completely unsynced and unable to see enemies or various other aspects of the level, then finally after restarting our run after restarting from the second point - right towards the end a enemy decided to jump into the terrain and become un-targetable. Which is when we said to hell with it and stopped (since it would be the second restart of the same level). It's been 3 years...where is the quality control on something like this? So sure if you want to play the game solo - you're probably fine, but if you're aiming to play this with friends I'd avoid it like the plague. --edit; I wanted to edit this after I thought about it to point out that it seemed like every issue happened specifically on the Okada stage (Freeze after Stage 2 beating the Sumo bosses, Ninja jumping into the walls during the mountain climb, unable to see the enemies on Stage 1) The incorrect characters could have been a weird selection error and I'll write that one off but I've seen reports of people spawning in doing other chars stuff with a different character... So maybe it's best to do Okada first if you're playing co-op regardless of what route you'd like to do? Maybe we'll try later and I'll update. I know it could be a coincidence but afair we had zero issues outside of the incorrect characters on our first run up until Okada (which we did as our last stage - which is when the first unsync error happened.) We did Anubis > Okada our second run, restarted our games prior - and that's when the freeze and enemy clipping issues happened. The fact we did the other 3 stages with no issues on our first run and started having issues on Okada though is just suspicious so may just be best to knock her out first with a single stage error rate than messing up a late run
Pros: -It's a retro-styled continuation of the Double Dragon franchise. -It feels and plays very similar to the 8-bit Nintendo and old arcade versions, but with slight modern tweaks -Has a good amount of characters to unlock. -Some of the unlockable characters are a blast to use Especially to maximize earning other unlockables. -Controls are fairly tight easy to grasp. -The in-between round upgrades are fun ways to tweak a playthrough. Cons: -Some might like the 8-bit style. Some might not. -Some of the unlockable characters are terrible to play as. -The levels are repetitive. After a few playthroughs you might get bored looking at the same things over and over. You can control in which order you do them, which has unlocked a few new levels. -The in-between round upgrades are randomized. You only have 5 random ones. Some you might only see come around once in a full playthrough. Overall, this old school beat 'em up has held my attention for several days now (I have numerous others I could play). I'm not a super big fan of the pixelated style, but the controls and straightforward fun-factor more than make up for it. 6.5-7/10
funny how the reverse happened: Kunio Kun was super-deformed thanks to River City sub-series being more popular, after the canon "River City Girls", they become standard-proportioned. Double Dragon was always standard-proportioned. Not in this one. Unlike most Double Dragon games, this game is beginner friendly although it will took awhile and playing in harder difficulties gave more rewards and faster unlocks. This game is meant to be played in multiple playthroughs as after the first act, there's multiple choices, and the ones that you don't chose have increasingly longer levels. Overall fun to be enjoyed.
It’s a very competent beat em up, with some roguelite elements thrown in. Normally I’m not too excited about roguelite stuff, but in this case I could beat the game straight through, with the choice of random power ups between levels. There’s no time wasting here, just an additional twist if you want to play through again with unlocked characters. I appreciate that actually, makes replays more interesting. Combat itself is really satisfying, with weapons to pick up, decent enemy variety, and combos and special powers to use. Stages are fine, nothing too spectacular. It’s fun, it’s solid.
Double Dragon Gaiden is the best thing to happen to this franchise since The Revenge. While there have been solid efforts in the past (Advance) and more recently (Neon), it is Gaiden where everything just clicks. The combo system, the partner-tag system, the specials, the 'crowd-controls,' the rogue-lite mechanics, and the variety of characters all make for an amazing and incredibly fun experience. Additionally, this game is perfect for quick solo pick-up-n-play sessions or a long, co-op run with friends. As you progress through the game, you earn the ability to add more playable characters to your roster. Each of these characters have unique move-sets and play very differently from one another - requiring you to modify your tactics when taking on specific groups of enemies. Speaking of enemies, there are several enemy types that compel you to approach every encounter with specific strategies based on the character(s) you are using. This is even more important when fighting mid- or end-stage bosses... all of whom have a wide array of unique moves. In addition to the characters and enemies is the actual gameplay. One thing that makes Double Dragon Gaiden exciting to play over and over is the simple, albeit fun, rogue-lite mechanics. Indeed, the upgrade system is implemented very well... at the end of each "chapter" you are granted an opportunity to enhance your characters based on a randomized list of upgrades. (These upgrades are lost once you finish the play session in which they were applied.) Some of these upgrades are passive (like more health) and some are active (like stronger combos) and make each session unique. Button input and movement feel great and, with the aforementioned upgrades, even the bulkier characters can become fast and lethal. It is fun to experiment with the tag-system to extend combos or add special moves to the end of a combo using your secondary character. Moreover, the game allows you to choose the order in which you progress through the stages. As you complete one level, the other levels become longer and more difficult. Because there are a unique stage hazards in each level, you will want to choose the order carefully. Graphically, the pixel art is absolutely gorgeous. There are plenty of nods to the original arcade games found throughout each of the levels, and the characters all have that exaggerated stature that became the norm back on the NES. Animations are fluid and look beautiful, while the small details in each of the four "worlds" show just how much care was put into this game. The music is just as good. There are plenty of selections taken from past DD games and, of course, the main theme that will live in your head forever more. There is a lot more to discover in this game that I will not list here, but know that the developers have been actively supporting this game with several free DLC packs and small fixes. If it isn't obvious already, I highly recommend Double Dragon Gaiden. This is a great time for beat 'em up experts and novices - alone or with friends!
颇具爽感的街机闯关,但是没有倒地保护实在太傻逼了,直接被小怪排队轮
不错就是只有关卡太少了
idk its extremely short and can be beaten under 2 hours, and it was way too easy with difficulty sliders on max
