Cosmic Invasion plays more like a fighting game than a standard beat-em-up. Button mashers beware! You'll choose a tag-team of two heroes. In traditional beat-em-ups, most characters are similar and shimmer in brief moments or against specific bosses. But Cosmic Invasion features a blend of characters that handle differently - almost as though they have a "sub-type" which you'll want to choose in combination with your second hero. Basic moves are there, but unique moves feel more akin to Marvel vs. Capcom or Street Fighter - air combos, juggles, grapples, lunges, etc. While your favorite hero will use their powers, you might find it's not as you'd expect; their function is more nuanced, and therefore, some heroes naturally shine brighter than others if you just wanted to button mash. This leads to a unique experience. Levels, challenges, and bosses can be difficult depending who you've chosen. So find a good, balanced tag team and do your best. Some levels might require a few playthroughs for a 100% complete clear. As your heroes level up, you'll have more breathing room. The colors are bright! The artwork is fluid and flashy. MAJOR kudos to the voice actors and the script writers who brought voice lines to life - everyone's dialogue is spot-on! The cast features X-Men 97's Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Steve Blum (formerly Logan, now Venom and Beta Ray Bill) and Matt Mercer (Nova). So whenever someone says a one-liner or calls a move out, you feel your favorite hero's DNA! No one gets old or has a boring thing to say. The music is a 7/10 (not TMNT or Streets of Rage, but the trumpets are blaring) and complements the vibe. If you're a superhero fan, you'll enjoy the easter eggs. If you're a fan of 2D beat-em-ups, you'll find this holds your attention. You'll get your money's worth for the time spent here. And Marvel's IP is huge, so it's time we had a quality superhero game in this genre.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game can be completed in a matter of <5 hours, with a price tag of $30. Unless you have decent disposable income and just want a time waster for a weekend I would skip. While a two hour threshold for refunds can be understandable, this feels like an intentional scam to trick fans of Marvel into forking over hard earned money for a sub enjoyable experience
No as good as TMNT Shredder’s Revenge
It's fun for one evening with a buddy, but that's about it. I can't recommend it at this price. This should've been a €10–15 game, not 30€. On top of that, it's way too easy and offers very little challenge.
Like something has affecting my senses.)”, Capitão América na fase de Hala ou Ciclope na fase “Blue Area of the Moon” ou na batalha com a Fênix Negra (We’re not fighting Phoenix. We are helping Jean). DOTEMU and TRIBUTE GAMES are back with another collaboration, bringing us a Marvel beat ’em up titled “Marvel Cosmic Invasion.” Just from this duo alone, the game features: 1) Pixel art graphics and well-crafted levels. 2) Responsive gameplay mechanics 3) Classic characters with their original fighting styles 4) Voice acting 5) Lots of action 6) A game you’ll want to play over and over again Following the success of their partnership on *TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge*, it was a given that this Marvel beat ’em up developed by the same team would be a hit as well. Although I’m not a big fan of Marvel games—with the exception of “Marvel vs. Capcom 2”—the game was quite captivating, with mechanics similar to TMNT and fighting games that involve assist moves. The game features 17 characters in total (including DLC), some of which are unlockable after completing certain levels; my favorites are: Spider-Man, Storm, Captain America, Rocket, and Cyclops. Each character has their own attributes in terms of strength, unique attacks, and super moves. Some can fly, perform double jumps, execute low-level attacks, dodge, or block attacks. Others can land attacks with special effects, such as fire, sonic, electric, or cosmic. In terms of mechanics, the player can choose two heroes and switch between them at any time throughout the game, similar to the system in *Double Dragon Gaiden – Rise of the Dragons*. There’s no set number of lives, but you can revive your ally by collecting life items or red cosmos. You can attack enemies using your ally’s assist move, which is very useful for dealing with certain waves of enemies. Another interesting feature is that the characters interact with each other during the switch or assist move; for example: Tempest and Rocket: When Rocket uses Tempest’s assist move, he says, “Can I borrow some lightning?” or, when Tempest uses Rocket’s assist move, “Surprise from my animal friend.” The characters interact with certain levels and bosses: such as Black Panther in the “Klyntar (I’m feeling strange. Like something has affected my senses.)” level, Captain America in the Hala level, or Cyclops in the “Blue Area of the Moon” level or in the battle against the Dark Phoenix (“We’re not fighting Phoenix. We’re helping Jean”). As for multiplayer, up to 4 players can play simultaneously, resulting in 8 heroes taking turns in the game. I’ll admit I was hoping for 6 players, like in *Shredder’s Revenge*, but it still guarantees chaos with more people. Some of my friends from SR are giving this game a try, like Ryan LSA (one of the top players with Black Panther) and Red_Fire 257 with his no-damage and full-combo challenges. I got to take part in one of the challenges alongside him, MaxOwnsJ00, and Adrian Tepez in 4-player arcade mode with no deaths, no character swaps, and no assists. Other friends are also active, such as Halcyon Ways, Tuiz, and Silent. Although I don’t play TMNT Shredder’s Revenge as much—since I’m not a huge fan of the Marvel universe—that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. After all, one of the strengths of Tribute Games’ titles is the care they put into developing their games, incorporating plenty of references and well-crafted designs, as seen in this game, TMNT, and Scott Pilgrim. Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. For anyone who enjoys taking down waves of enemies and playing co-op with friends, it’s a game worth checking out—especially for Marvel fans.
Fun....but flawed...greatly. So the game takes about 2 1/2 hours to beat from beginning to end with about 80% of the achievements. At least in my case. Almost 100% all unlocks in those 2 1/2 hours. The game is 1 chapter. About a dozen levels in that chapter, but it's still one chapter. So just as you're finally unlocking everything, it's over. Also, the game does some scummy stuff that's common in low-budget BEU's. Like i-fame moves are interruptable by certain enemies. All jump attacks are "downward" facing attacks so air enemies are extremely difficult as they're often immune to almost all attacks. The final boss, won't spoil but it's obvious, can break all i-frame attacks predictably. Also, the challenges are real challenges in that, they always make you use the worst characters in the game to finish levels and they make you "avoid" unavoidable situations. Like, don't get shot by the things on the wall..but they only shoot when you're knocked down and can't dodge them. So lots of scummy stuff like that and frame-perfect enemy counters at random. If you still NEED to get it, I recommend a sale. It's a $3-5 game at best. Replayability relies entirely on you playiing with friends through the 10-12 levels over and over. Pretty sure the original X-Men arcade and Avengers Arcade had more levels and they were built to eat your quarters. So, it's a good BEU but with the scummy tactics and lasts all of 2.5 hours. Just long enough to not get a refund after beating it...which also comes off as scummy.
60 fps @ 4K on Steam Machine is no problem. This game is fun with 4 people. Lots of replay potential here, plus some cool DLC. All in I give it a 9/10
This game is a pretty solid example of "just enough", I was expecting quite a lot more content or mechanics to it, yet found that this beat em up keeps it fairly simple. The art and animation is nice, but the music does not really keep the feeling of being invested in the games world, or retain the motivation to keep pushing forward, neither does this game add any new moves or mechanics to enjoy, in a genre that needs to mix it up however it can. A very solid example of games that add enough variety, mechanics and have music that keeps you hyped and help to detract from the repetitious gameplay, is Streets of Rage 4, Fight N Rage, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive, TMNT: Shredders Revenge and even Double Dragon Gaiden. The level up system is appreciated, but no one is getting excited about constant health upgrades. Why couldn't there be a new move or special to add to the enjoyment? Besides the story mode and arcade mode, there isn't much else to do besides using the unlocked variables editor to change up how a run works, but it feels somewhat lazy compared to adding in a mode that could genuinely retain interest in playing the game. And the gallery would be nice if it added more besides some color pallettes and notes on the characters. Again, you're unlocking things that most people are not getting excited about or feel pretty miniscule. Would recommend taking a look at Streets of Rage 4, Fight N Rage, TMNT: Shredders Revenge, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive and Double Dragon Gaiden if you want a good time, solo or with friends. I played through this game in both scenarios, but it got stale both times, compared to other beat em ups too quickly.
LOVED this game. If you're nostalgic for 90s Marvel comics and television, and tired of modern MCU, this is for you! Fun, colouful, silly. A+ beat em up.
Overall a great game. Super fun if you enjoy classic, beat em up style games. All of the artwork in this game is really nice, along with the dialogue. The team aspect of this game is a strong point for sure. The characters having specific dialogue options no matter what team you pick, the special hero attacks when swapping heros and attacking simultaneously, as well as the online multiplayer coop are all very well done. Easy pickup for any Marvel fans, or just classic/nostalgic-feel fighting game enjoyers.
