Futanari Quest is a game that starts off interesting and quickly goes downhill.
The game has an interesting enough premise for a hentai game, a woman becomes a futanari and has to impregnate 4 women, but outside of that, there's not much else to it, which is disappointing considering the lack of futanari games out there.
- Visuals
This game looks pretty bad overall. It looks like generic RPGMaker assets with ugly character sprites. The actual illustrations for the game are hit or miss in terms of overall quality, but generally aren't bad, just a bit amateurish in places. The battles and 18+ scenes are by far the best looking parts of the game.
- Gameplay
The game itself isn't really anything to write home about. For some reason the developer chose to map movements to the arrow keys instead of the standard WASD, but you can also click to move around, which is several times faster and easier than using the arrow keys. You pretty much follow the standard "go here, do thing, repeat" cycle, but with only really 5 areas of the game: House, Forest, Village, Well, and Dungeon. The battles are once again the most interesting part, which isn't really saying much since it's basically finding out the "weakness" of your enemy until you can craft items, which then makes the entire game a cakewalk.
- Voice Acting
I'm not going to harp on this too much since it seems from the credits alone that a lot of the voice actors for this game didn't even want to do it, but it's an adult RPGMaker game, the voice acting is pretty dang bad. Though of course, that's not what anyone is really here for now, is it?
- Story
The story starts off decently interesting, but after I'd say the fight with the blue-haired woman, the game goes downhill fast. The game sets up the blue-haired woman as being a sort of antagonistic force of sorts who will stop you from getting to the princess, but after "defeating" her, that's entirely dropped and you just get to have your way with the princess no questions asked. There's not even like a "you get caught in the act" type of scene or anything, you just do it and move on entirely.
There's also a cat-girl in the *checks notes* ONE dungeon area of the game, and her name outside of battle shows up as ???, she has an animated and voiced scene, and then the game does nothing with her at all except let's her stand there to for grinding, though I'll get back to that later. As I said, the game REALLY goes downhill near the end, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the ending.
The ending goes as follows: You have sex with an elf, then an orc woman comes and arrests you. You get locked into a dungeon, the fairy from the start of the game basically says "Oh well, tough luck," and then the game ends. Black screen, white text, that's it. That's the ending.
- Difficulty
This game is piss easy. I didn't really expect much honestly since this IS just another adult game after all, but there's absolutely zero balancing it seems. You don't need to grind for items since you can just walk in and out of an area to respawn everything, and even then, once you've made the best weapon and gear, there's no point in getting items anymore outside of the crystals that unlock a whopping two bonus scenes. The enemies don't even really get harder either to justify needing the strongest gear, it's really just there to make grinding enemies quicker, which would be great if there was even any point to grinding enemies. You have an Exp Bar in the menu that never fills, and you have a Gold counter that also never fills, so there's no point in fighting enemies outside of getting their JPG in the Gallery, which even then you don't even get for fighting.
- Writing
The writing in this game is HORRIBLE. It reads like terrible smut you'd write in high school after watching nothing but the worst adult parody films ever. I don't expect Shakespeare or anything from an adult game, but come on man, this writing sounds like a first draft written by a drunk twenty-something who's never talked to a woman before, let alone ever being laid.
- "What the hell?" Moments
Outside of the horrid ending, there were a few things that made me just wonder "what the hell?" As mentioned earlier, there are EXP and Gold counters that never increase. The only way to raise your stats are potions that are stupid easy to craft, and you only need 1 of each, max, and that's only if you want to speed through the encounters to unlock the mediocre monster JPGs.
The cauldron (crafting station of the game) also shows 14/14 recipes as being unlocked, none of which you even need to spend any amount of effort unlocking since they're all there by default, but then in the individual breakdowns you get "Lube: 3/4," despite there being no fourth option as far as I can tell.
Even the battles, the one saving grace of the game, aren't free from weird errors. Your command menu has all manner of various actions you can perform, with each resulting in 0, 1, or 2 points being taken from the enemy, yet seemingly the final two, "suck" and "♥♥♥♥" are both absent entirely despite having HUD icons. At least, I wasn't able to use either of them even after beating the game, and I was at 50 "levels" with all other actions having been unlocked well before then.
This is a bit more minor, but there are some points of the game where the music gets way too loud over the voices when the audio is all set to the same levels, which shouldn't be the case. You can at least adjust the audio levels, but only in increments of 20, and ONLY through cycling, so to set the audio lower, you have to momentarily blast your eardrums out at 100% volume. A simple slider system would have been nice.
Overall Verdict:
As a futanari aficionado, I don't recommend this game. The gameplay is boring, the battles get repetitive after the first few and even more so after getting items, the voice acting is bad, the writing is atrocious, the spicy scenes are terrible even outside of the varying degrees of artistic quality (they're literally just a camera moving twice over a static JPG before showing the entire shot with a bit of VA work over it), and the ending is the worst way you could possibly end this game. The game even hints at you being able to visit more areas, with the player finding a blocked off pathway after exiting the well, but this is never visited again outside of a VERY brief initial encounter with the orc woman.
If you want to experience this game, just look it up on some adult video site and save yourself the trouble. If you just HAVE to play it yourself though, get it on sale. Don't pay full price for this poorly written ugly excuse of a game. Get it on sale, hop into a video call with a few buddies and some alcohol if you're of age, and spend an hour or two just having a laugh at this thing.
