This was a very great game as short as it was. The puzzles are great and the world exploration was a ton of fun. If your looking for a quick puzzle game to challenge your brain this is it!
fun lil puzzle metroidvania ish game if u dont mind walking around a lot
A short, but well thought-out puzzle game with a really nice atmosphere! Fugaz felt a bit like a pocket-sized metroidbrainia, which was far from unwelcome to me. Count ~5 hours to finish it. Strongest element are the riddles, most of which I found really fun to solve! Certain puzzles can be figured out intuitively and have you find their hints way after being solved, but it's a common occurrence with riddle-based games of this nature, so I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Narrative elements are not the center point compared to the puzzle aspect, but its integration within the map and npcs felt organic, and I really digged the ambience and music of the game. I discovered Fugaz through its demo, and I really appreciated the effort made so that the demo doesn't spoil any of the riddles from the finished game. If you're curious but not convinced yet, go check it out! It will give you a good impression of what the final game will be like, and maybe convince you to play it too? Overall: if you enjoy metroidbrainias but are looking for a shorter, simpler experience, this game fits the bill nicely. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely phenomenal!! This is a must-play for all puzzle game fans. The polish of this game is incomparable. I've never seen a map so well-tailored to its genre; the way everything is annotated and marked with "there is more to know..." in case you're missing something is just brilliant. I love note taking, but I love this even more. The option to skip the melodies is not something I've used, but it's also a QoL I appreciate. The art is incredible. The visuals are simple but effective (the MC is so cute!), and the music is soooo good. The melodies I've used the most are stuck in my head, and gonna be stuck there for a while (Prelude to Rebirth my beloved). Even with melodies aside, the area music is great, and I've spent quite a bit of time in the main menu listening to its OST. I will definitely be listening to the full thing on YouTube. The puzzles are pretty damn good. There were a rare few where the hints made no sense or did not land a connection for me, but overall, they scratched my brain quite nicely. The game never stops innovating on its simple control scheme, and it's a joy every time a new side is introduced to an old mechanic. I really liked the story as well. The gameplay-limiting darkness was, at first, something that annoyed me, as I didn't understand what triggered it, but after some time, I've come to appreciate it, and now that I've beaten the game, I love its thematic significance as well. The regular ending with all easter eggs was so bittersweet that I was HORRIFIED when I started a new save an got the speedrun ending. Omg. Now I need to replay the game all over again, I don't want THAT for my sweet main character... (maybe some time in the future though, when I forget most solutions) Overall, FUGAZ is a gem of a puzzle game, and I'm incredibly excited for the developer's future projects. Much love <333
Pretty good puzzle game. A bit of a metroidvania but without combat. Most importantly, puzzles are diverse and often interesting. However. There is a timer. After 7 minutes you're back at the entrance, all puzzle reset. Your map stays, and it's a good map that has all hints you found and all solutions to puzzles you solved. But if you want to go back to a place, and you do go back to places a lot, you need to solve all puzzles on the way again and again, and again. This timer is used in a couple of puzzles, but I'd just remove those puzzles along with the unnecessary time limit. For this price I'd rather play a 3.5 hour long (to 100%) game that stays fresh for the whole duration than a 5 hour long game with 1.5 hours of tedious re-solving puzzles and going back to places you didn't manage to explore completely because the time ended. The game itself is good anyway, but frankly, I wouldn't even play it if I knew about this beforehand. Also, the story is some deep stuff about depression or something, but there's not much of it, so you can enjoy the game even if you don't care. And from my experience it's harder to understand than any puzzle the game has. Also #2, some proofreading by a native English speaker wouldn't hurt.
Objectively:
7.7/10 (+1 if you don't mind the timer)
