Fruitbus

I just finished playing the 'Banamas' map recently and I've been enjoying this game a lot than I initially expected. Bought this game because of the art direction, thinking it would just be something cute and fun! Quite surprised to unpack and got a narrative-driven game to sit with the themes of loss. I love how the story addresses the loss of a loved one openly, and how it does not romanticize the deceased. The metaphorical symbolism and significance of the old Fruit truck being an active process that mirrors Pumpkin's healing and navigating their grief as you travel across island to island, getting to know your beloved Grandma throughout the townsfolk dialogue and memories of her. Exploring the vast island, discovering new fruits and getting to know the characters in the game has been such a treat! The game mechanics isn't perfect and feels a bit clunky with bugs here and there, but it never really gotten to the point of it being frustrating to me. I also found it interesting that the game is designed to be played at your own pace, which also adds another layer to the games narrative. That the process of grief cannot be rushed (but, maybe I'm thinking deeply about this haha) I haven't finished the game yet, but I feel like I'll probably cry at the end. If you're looking into slowing down your day into a cozy game, I would highly recommend playing this game ʕ˶´• ᴥ •`˶ʔ ♡
