I love gloomhaven and wanted to try out frosthaven without needing to schedule and manage playing with friends. Perhaps I should stick to the physical copy, which isn't able to crash on me. I have tried to play this game about a dozen times, every single time it eats all my PCs memory and freezes up within minutes. I'm not very knowledgable on how this stuff works but something is very wrong with the optimization of this game. I'd love to give some insight on the port to digital but seeing as I have yet to successfuly play a round, I'm not really in the position to do so. Do not recommend picking this one up until the performance issues are addressed.
An easy recommendation because the -haven games are some of the best tactical adventure games in existence and this is the most accessible implementation of the game you can get. Plus, as an implementation of a board game, it's well balanced for cooperative play with friends. A couple caveats: first, it's imo a more difficult/complex game than Gloomhaven, so that might be better if you're new to the series. Second, the scenarios are *long*. The game is designed such that even in situations where you're very likely to lose there's almost always a path to winning (fun!), but it is very easy to spend a ton of time on a tough scenario only to lose steps from the finish line (disappointing!). Probably not that different from a late-game MOBA in that respect 😇
