About
Take control of a powerful starfighter and enter a conflict stretching across the frontier. Tackle story missions, side operations, and high-stakes combat scenarios as you battle enemy forces, support the war effort, and adapt your ship to each mission. With customizable loadouts and fast-paced space battles that change the shape of the conflict, every mission gives you another chance to prove yourself among the stars.

It is the year 2230. After nearly 100 years of expansion and colonization in space, the human species now stands on the brink of war. On one side is the corrupt and aging Sol Confederacy. On the other is the fledgling, Frontier Republic.
Neither one is willing to compromise and the coming war will see entire worlds decimated for it.
But way out on the fringes of colonized space. On a lonely moon called Frontiers Reach. Captain Anya Zuban and First Mate Rhen Malavik are prepping their vessel, the Heliosiren, to lead a group of survivors deep into uncharted space to escape the coming war.
Each fighter in your hangar performs different duties but you are not restricted from choosing any of them. Pick the one you want and customize numerous aspects of it. From the color of the paint to the different types of modules and weapons that can be equipped.

With more than 30 different locations in space and on planets there is a wide diversity of environments to run missions in. Whether you're fighting battles to win over planets, running skirmishes on friendly nodes, or rescuing vessels in distress to add to your fleet.

A military science fiction fantasy based on reality; Frontiers Reach takes heavy inspiration from the Cold War Era of the real world to create a brand new realm in the genres of science fiction and space games. A heavily stylized art direction that focuses on capturing the magic of Atompunk, Cassette Futurism, and Retro-futurist art styles from the mid 20th century.

Game's quite hard but has a certain charm to it, particularly a fan of the RCS function that works similar to Ace Combats Post Stalll Manouvers or Project Wingmans AOA. A little unpolished but worth a go.
For a game that is designed, written and made by basically a single person is great. For a first game you can see they are trying and its a real hard try. Obviously the graphics are a little buggy, but new updates are bringing better performance. Cant wait to use my new hotas on it. Gameplay 6/10 Story 8/10 Performance 5/10 Effort 10/10
i was gifted this game from the developers, and in return as promised I am going to give my review, honest review. Firstly, there is nothing like a flight combat game that puts you in the seat of some oddly world aircraft, it is very evident that this game is trying to take a different approach to sci fi gaming, like most Sci Fi games there are just too many similarities, however, Frontier Reach is taking a very different approach with a retro feel and innovative game dynamics. 1. Game play: from the get go I got the vibe of Crimson Skies if it had a sequel where pilots use jet powered craft rather than prop powered, and I was also getting a battle star galactica vibe, and that's down to the spacecraft design. The game play is overwhelming at first with a very busy HUD, however after a few minutes you start to get the hand of it, flight dynamics is good and its fun to do a little free flight away from all the action, cloud surfing been one of my favorite things to do. 2. Graphics: As mentioned already there is a retro vibe to this game and the graphics really match it, it really is a different type of game, you could almost describe it as an alternative universe in alternative time, I like the style because it is different, it has its own unique style to it. 3. Sound: Ok I am a sound freak when it comes to gaming, I think this is where the game lacks, but not by much, the soundtrack is a little too retro for me, it almost sounds like an arcade machine in the background which becomes annoying after a while, I think it needs more umph, its a fast paced flight combat game, maybe it should be reflected with the sound track and give it some Top Gun style adrenaline. Summery: I have to say the game really is unique, its very different and that's what I like to see in the Sci Fi genre, does it need work, yes of course, but it is still fun. My only complaint is I think this game should have a multiplayer mode, I would only love to take down some mates in a dog-fighting battle, is it planned? maybe, maybe not, but I would consider this as a developer.
There was a time. When games created worlds not because they thought they would sell well and tick a lot of data-driven vantage points, but because they had a vision and a story to tell. When atmosphere was understood to be a powerful tool that could do a lot of work even when the rest of the game was basic in form and function. When mission structure was freeform enough to let you find your own playstyle within the framework of the game, and not simply press X to win. When storylines and game levels made coherent sense and the real joy of the game was unfolding a story piece by piece. When the technology of the game world worked in consistent ways, letting you feel like part of that world and not some gifted, miraculous outsider who just wins all the time because of plot advantages and console-difficulty. When a game didn't need to be the pinnacle of its art or the cutting edge of the industry in order to draw and command attention, because it had solid writing and crafted features that made it unique and valuable as a result. Frontiers Reach is such a game. Many will overlook this gem as too simplistic or repetitive, but they are wrong. If you played games during the 90s - games like Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, Wing Commander, TIE Fighter and Hellbender - you will recall that those games were novel and charming because what they did, they did completely and without apology. Nobody said Terra Nova was one of gaming's classic titles, but it returned on Steam because there is no other game like it. The amount of worldbuilding and work that went into Hellbender seems wasted on what is now surely a forgotten chapter of gaming history, but I remember. TIE Fighter was so good it is also here on Steam, and also enjoying a fan-made remastering. Wing Commander essentially inspired Star Citizen, but unlike that project Frontier's Reach is not a long con. Frontier's Reach *can* be repetitive. It can even be boring, because patrol duty is boring. But it is exactly that completeness of experience that is the treasure here. Frontier's Reach is not an aerial combat simulator, nor is it an Arcade Classic. It is a space opera that successfully manages to immerse you in a great story, in a familiar but nevertheless interesting game world, with mechanics that are simple enough to master but involved enough to present choices. It achieves what I believe was what it set out to do, which is to make you feel like the right pilot in the right place and the wrong time; a rebel among thousands; and a big damn hero. And if you were a fan of Firefly and Serenity, you may feel that no one can take the sky from you in this title either. The altitude and missile alarms. The Radar buzz when *something* is out there. The cockpit view that takes up 60% of your POV. Being unable to look behind you. Flares. Simple, robust touches, and some of them serve only to bring simulator-qualities to an arcade style of flight combat. Nothing really takes away from your experience in Frontier's Reach. The customisation options for your bird bring a new level of immersion to what I should call a "rebel pilot simulator". The game has bugs. Some frustratingly bar passage through levels by failing to spawn or complete objectives. The developer has responded to the ones I've reported within 48 hours of doing so. I bought this in a steam sale and I have not yet completed it, but I will. Because for the first time in ages, here is a game that I want to know the ending of. When comes such another?
I gave this game a stinking review at first but then I put some effort into it and I like it. It is rough around the edges but the setting and the retro stuff are amazing. There is nothing wrong with flying, I like the flight and the feel of it but the game does suffer from info overload. It barrages you with stuff that you don't pay attention too because you're too busy flying. The first mission is hard but if you take bombs that can be dropped from high altitude blowing them fuel tanks are no problem. My only gripe is the box with the "loot" at the end of that first mission. I feel it's a bit too early for that and it comes as a surprise. The player needs to have at least practised a lot with indoor flying before such things - sure it feels good when you figure it out how but I also like getting my backside handed to me so I just keep trying. Anyway. Looking forward to Frontier Reach Mercenaries. Thumbs up.

Chnged as the updates addressed the issues 💎 [Day 1 release review] While the promise seemed grand, the game just fails to deliver fun. The tutorial presents an overview of your cockpit, but I can't read anything from my 15,6" 144Hz laptop screen - the UI is too small. The flight/physics model is bizarre for my taste. If you're an arcade pilot who liked Ace Combat, Project Wingman, or H.A.W.X. - try it with caution. An obscure game, "The Tomorrow War (2009)", has spaceflight that is more accessible. Something feels off for me, even after hundreds of hours in similar flight sims from Il-2 and War Thunder to Sky Rogue and The Brew Barons. The biggest issue - I can't seem to hit anything. Bullets and rockets rarely connect and provide no feedback for the player when damage is dealt. The game is not there yet. I expected more from the 1.0 release. Not a refund, though - the art direction is curious, and the premise is intriguing. Let's help more people to learn about the game and support the developer so they can turn this release around.
