Solid game that needs more polish, with the main issue being terrible performance. I could run the first game on high graphic settings at solid 60fps, but not this game. Even at everything on the lowest graphics, I can never reach consistent 60fps. The other main issue is a lack of content with there only being 11 missions, compared to the 26 in the first game. So currently I would only recommend this game if you wish to give feedback to the developers and help the game reach its true potential!
Hopefully the developer gives this one to another proper team like what happened with Project Nimbus. Cause...this is pretty awful all around. A complete downgrade from either version of Project Nimbus; pay no mind to the clowns saying "don't compare this to the previous game" cause that makes zero sense. This is advertised as a direct sequel, and since it's no longer in Early Access there's really no excuses for this mess.
Okay, there are a lot of mixed reviews for Nimbus Infinity and I can see why after playing the game myself. Beat the game in around 2-3 hours, had to step away from the computer to take care of lunch and house cleaning. The game's campaign is very easy to complete in one afternoon, aside from the eye-straining giant boss that put a strain on my PC due to the ridiculous laser light show. Project Nimbus had its ups and downs. It had great gameplay involving responsive mech flight controls and an adequate lock-on system (automatic lock-on for the easy difficulty). The story was so-so, if slightly hampered by campy voice acting and very straightforward and somewhat patronizing sci-fi themes of anti-war and overcoming the boundaries between nations, etc. And since those themes haven't been original since Ace Combat 5... it is what it is. Nimbus Infinity is presented as a sequel to Project Nimbus, but the only main ties to the previous game are the mech design and one major character returning as a highly questionable cameo. The story is extremely bare-bones compared to Project Nimbus's so-so but serviceable story. You start off with an unarmed pink mech piloted by a generic MC 'tofu delivery' guy with black hair and red highlights, and then he jumps into an advanced mech prototype as a new copilot to help a blonde scientist pilot girl save her injured friend from attacking rogues. There's some stuff about the conflict between nations, but the cut-scenes and visual novel-lite sections are extremely simplistic, where the allied characters talk about battlefield strategies and objectives like in Ace Combat and the previous Nimbus game... when you don't even know who the bad guys are (aside from being a nation called ISA) and what exactly they're trying to accomplish through terrorism. There's a hint of a minor subplot where the red-highlight MC and the blonde scientist girl talk about their parents and the expectations they had growing up as kids, but that doesn't go anywhere substantial, same for the main story... because the campaign officially ends (complete with credits and the message thanking the player for playing) right as you're getting used to the general mission flow and format, which is disappointing. If the game is still in an early-access state in regards to the campaign and the campaign's story, it's odd that the Steam page didn't say so. I know that it took a lot of work for Project Nimbus to get off the ground, but at least you can say that Project Nimbus is a complete experience with a robust amount of content. Though, I don't regret buying Nimbus Infinity for eleven dollars on sale, as I do like the mech gameplay and the solid weapon selection.
これが一作目でProject Nimbus(Not Complete Edition)が2作目と言われても違和感ない。
I bought this on Early Access and waited a couple years. The last update was 6 months ago so I decided to finally play it, and it's a straight downgrade from its predecessor. It suffers from poor performance while not looking particularly great, crashes, and I've found some game-breaking bugs. The gameplay doesn't feel quite as good as the previous game either. I hope they polish their next games more, if further work on this one isn't possible. It's okay to have a lower scoped game if the execution is polished. For reference, the game-braking bugs I found were: 1) Skipping the briefing on Mission 8 would take me back to Mission 2 instead of the correct one 2) Mission 9 got stuck without updating the objective after the first was completed, so I was soft-locked. Retried the mission multiple times and the only way I got it to work was by closing and opening the game again.
I loved the first game, Project Nimbus was amazing. This does not live up to it. The story feels disjointed, and there are moments where it plays 3 lines of dialog simultaneously, which must be a bug. My biggest issue is how often it crashes, even on the lowest possible settings. My PC is fine, as I can run other games on medium or high settings with no issues. But I'm on mission 5 and can't progress any further, because it consistently crashes near the end. After reinstalling the game, I was able to progress, but now I'm stuck on mission 7, where it doesn't end. The enemies are defeated, and the dialog ends, but the mission remains stuck. I've restarted it several times.
Simply put, combat doesn't feel good. I recently picked up the original Nimbus, I don't love it, but it is a bit better.
