Went from a sinner on Earth to a saint in Heaven in just 40 minutes. If life were as simple as hitting the "spacebar," I’d be ruling the world by now. 10 levitating rocks out of 10.
the surreal aesthetic in this is absolute eye candy. first person platforming can be a drag sometimes but honestly it flows pretty well here. you're basically just jumping around these trippy environments and doing light puzzles to climb back up to heaven. the philosophical story bits get weirdly deep too. really solid artsy game if you just want to vibe and look at pretty stuff for a bit.
How do I give a “neutral” rating?????
Grabbed this on a whim during a weird insomnia night and didn't expect much from a seven-buck first-person platformer about a guy falling upward into heaven. The whole thing is maybe two hours, narration trying really hard to be philosophical while I'm out here missing the same damn jump for the twelfth time because the edges of some floating rocks have the collision of a wet napkin. And yet - some of these skyboxes straight up made me stop moving. Pinks bleeding into gold, little islands drifting in nothing. On sale it's basically a short walk through someone's dream with platforming bolted on. At full price I'd feel a bit cheated, but at half I mostly just felt… quiet. Weird little thing. Left it installed longer than I should've
From Earth To Heaven is a first-person exploratory platformer developed and published by EpiXR Games UG. Known primarily for atmospheric indie projects, the studio once again leans into surreal presentation and contemplative pacing, crafting an experience that blends traversal, environmental puzzles, and philosophical undertones. Rather than focusing on fast reflexes or combat-heavy mechanics, the game emphasizes mood, vertical progression, and the symbolic journey of ascending from the earthly to the celestial. The premise is intentionally abstract. Players awaken in a world suspended between sky and land, tasked with climbing, leaping, and navigating increasingly elevated landscapes to reach the heavens. There is no dense exposition or lengthy dialogue to frame the objective. Instead, the world itself communicates purpose through design. Towering cliffs, floating platforms, and fragmented pathways guide the player upward, reinforcing the central theme of ascension. The act of climbing becomes metaphorical, evoking ideas of transcendence, perseverance, and self-discovery. Visually, the game stands out through its use of color and environmental scale. Vast open skies stretch endlessly above and below, creating a sense of isolation and wonder. Light plays a central role in defining atmosphere, casting warm hues across rocky formations and surreal floating structures. While the underlying geometry may be relatively simple, careful lighting and color contrasts elevate the presentation. The environments feel dreamlike rather than realistic, prioritizing emotional resonance over technical complexity. Gameplay revolves around first-person platforming, requiring players to judge distances, time jumps, and carefully navigate narrow ledges. The movement system is accessible but not overly refined. Momentum and camera control require adaptation, especially during sequences that demand precise jumps between distant platforms. Puzzles are minimalistic and often integrated naturally into traversal rather than presented as standalone challenges. This design choice reinforces the idea that exploration itself is the primary focus, not complex problem-solving. The pacing of From Earth To Heaven is deliberate and unhurried. There are stretches where players simply move forward, absorbing the atmosphere and reflecting on the climb. This slower tempo contributes to the game’s meditative quality. It feels less like a conventional platforming challenge and more like an interactive journey. However, this approach may divide audiences. Players seeking tightly tuned mechanics and escalating difficulty curves may find the experience too sparse, while those drawn to contemplative exploration may appreciate its simplicity. Narrative elements remain subtle throughout. There are no dramatic cutscenes or overt storytelling arcs. Instead, the symbolism of rising toward the sky carries thematic weight. The absence of explicit guidance invites personal interpretation, allowing players to assign their own meaning to the ascent. This ambiguity can be seen as either a strength or a weakness depending on expectations. The game does not attempt to provide definitive answers; it invites reflection rather than resolution. Community reception has reflected this divide. Many players praise the visual atmosphere and the calming, almost therapeutic quality of the upward journey. Others point to occasional stiffness in controls and moments where level design feels uneven or underdeveloped. The game’s relatively short runtime also factors into perception, as it offers a focused, contained experience rather than a sprawling adventure. Ultimately, From Earth To Heaven is best understood as an artistic exploration of movement and space rather than a traditional action-platformer. Its strength lies in its evocative environments and symbolic ascent, offering players a serene yet occasionally challenging climb through a surreal world. While it may not satisfy those looking for mechanical depth or narrative complexity, it provides a distinctive, atmospheric experience for players open to introspective and visually driven indie journeys.
